A lot of folks slapping down five stars here and the few that didn't have nothing to do with Carl's workmanship. I was looking to replace my entire AC system which is why it's important to find the best in the business and rated the best. It's also important to find more than one 5* business so you can get a better picture and quotes for such an expensive endeavor which I found helpful. If you're going to go all the way with such an expense, it's best to educate yourself as much as possible, and there's lots of YouTube videos on AC repair and replacement which you should watch prior to making that decision. You really need to be an informed and educated customer or you might find yourself with an inferior or wrong system. I found that certain AC companies want the steer you to certain brands they represent, so you may wish to decide on a brand first. I found that the Carrier Infiniti system with its very high seer rating and variable speed was the perfect choice. More details on this system in the photos below. If you live in a two-story house like mine, you can expect the price to be much greater due to the fact that you have dampeners which will need to be fixed or replaced which greatly adds to the bill. As for my AC, it was over 20 years old, but still chugging along. However, I knew there was going to be new mandates in 2025 which would greatly add to the expense of AC replacement such as a new refrigerant which is slightly flammable called Puranovance. I replaced my old R22 compressor with the new R-410a which is still readily available, but will eventually be phased out many years from now. I also mistakenly thought you'd get a good deal by replacing it during the cool months, but apparently a lot of people were doing what I was doing so no break in the price. As a matter fact, the date of manufacture of my new Infiniti compressor was only just a couple weeks old before it was installed. After some back-and-forth on pricing, we finally decided on a date of installation. Carl and his crew showed up and had everything installed within six hours and hauled off the old units. We still needed some troubleshooting in order to dial-in the thermostats functioning properly, but everything works perfectly now and the temperature remains exactly as you set it throughout the house. Both the compressor and the blower motor are incredibly quiet. Since I knew I needed this replacement at some point, I had enough money in the bank to cut a check for the job. Update: After 2 weeks the plenum did separate, but I was able to use foil tape to close up the 8" gap. Personally, I think a 30 day check up would be a good idea not just for Carl, but anyone who gets this kind of installation from whatever company you choose. read more

This review is long overdue. During this years cold spell/big freeze. Our heater went out. We had one company spend 8 hours in our attic trying to fix it. They came down at the end of the day (Friday, when it was suppose to be freezing or below the rest of the weekend) and said they couldn't fix it and we needed to call the gas company. They also made the comment that they didn't want to keep trying because it might blow the house up (!!!). It was too late in the day for the gas company to do anything, so we started searching for second opinions. We reached Carl's and though he was not able to come out that day, we walked us through how to troubleshoot the issue over the phone, which I consider going above and beyond in extreme circumstances. He was very reassuring and provided expertise that made us feel confident that our house wasn't going to explode, lol. Carl and his team came out the next week and fixed the issue in just an hour or so. They were efficient, professional, and their prices were very competitive. I called them because I had been having extremely loud noise coming from my outdoor a/c condenser for several YEARS. I'd had it assessed by another HVAC company who said it was fine there was nothing wrong. I called Carl's Heating and Air really to get pricing for a new condenser (mind you, for a 4 year old home!) The young woman who came over listened to the problem, then said her grandfather had a similar problem. She did something quickly that immediately decreased the extremely loud noise to normal, and that was to tighten one screw on the top of the unit. I was delighted, and told her so! After seeing Carl's good reviews on yelp I decided to ask for a quote to replace my 2 AC units. Carl responded and said it would be $98 to look at the unit. Contacted Carl one evening due to crazy squealing noises coming from the furnace. Him and his daughter where able to come out the next day and fixed the blower. While he was there looked at the rest of the system and was very transparent about what was needed now, and what can wait. Late afternoon I felt some warm air coming out of the vent and when I put my hand up to feel the air it felt cool. I just assumed that it was hot outside so it was cooling off. Fast forward to 7pm. I lowered my a/c to 75 and went outside to work on the yard. I saw the little a/c pipe drip. I remember somebody saying if that small pipe drips there's trouble. When I came in at 9pm I saw it was 80degrees on the thermostat. Oh no!!!! I pulled up Yelp to search for somebody who could help me out. The first one to come up was Carl's A/C. I was pretty amazed to see so many positive reviews so I knew this guy would be good. I called at 9:27 pm on a Sunday to see if I can schedule an appointment and he was walking me through how to disconnect the unit since he had a feeling I could be doing more damage by leaving it on. He was very courteous and helpful. He took his time to explain what it could be doing and here is the surprise....He came out to service my a/c!!! Luckily, he had my parts on hand and was able to get it done. Whatever I say for Carl and Callie isn't enough. They are amazing. They have helping me during the winter storm and this last weekend. They are prompt and super responsive. They keep in touch with you to give you and ETA when they are coming. Initially my AC unit stopped working for a clogged drain. They immediately came out and fixed it. But the very next day it stopped working due to it being an old unit. I texted Carl late in the evening and he was there first thing the next morning to diagnose it again. I needed the unit to be changed. They kept in touch with me through the day about inventory, got one and scheduled the replacement for the very next day. They were so professional. Came in before time and cleaned up after as well. I am so glad my neighbors recommended them. They are my go to AC/heating company. You cannot go wrong. Carl is amazing. He came out and diagnosed and corrected a strange problem with my heat pump system. When we turned on the heat, cold air would come out at first and after a few minutes, the air would be warmish. Carl figured out that when I had an airflow dampener system installed by a much bigger AC company, the downstairs thermostat was wired incorrectly such that the AC came on when we turned on the heat and the heat strips are what was warming the air. Carl also gave me great advice on fixing other small problems I could do myself. He taught me how to read the air flow dampener control panel. And yet he only charged me for 1 hour although he was here for 2. I would absolutely recommend Carl! read more

After our twin puppies ripped the wires out of our outside A/C unit, I had visions of having to write a massive check for repairs. Carl answered the phone immediately, was at our house 15 min after that, and had completed the repairs 30 min after that. He took the time to hand solder and wrap each wire splice. He went into our attic to check our inside unit, located a tripped fuse that we would've never known to look for, and did it all cheerfully. A lesser quality person could have likely taken advantage of the desperation we were feeling with a very uncomfortable house and no native talent of my own. We're so glad Carl is NOT that small. He charged us only for a service call plus supplies. I will proudly recommend Carl to whoever listens. 8/07/19. Almost three years after needing Carl (see above) I came home from work to find my home at 90 degrees inside. Dogs taking the heat hard. Only person I thought to call was Carl. He showed up 20 min later with his very competent daughter Callie. They diagnosed and repaired my failed capacitor and then took the time to check my zone dampers in the Attic.
