They took the time to thoroughly clean the condenser and ran multiple tests on the attic unit to make sure everything was operating as it should. What really stood out was how they walked me through the entire process at the end, showing photos and explaining each step. It gave me a lot of confidence in their work and attention to detail. I'm very happy with this company and would highly recommend them.

My AC condensation pipe was completely backed up and needed to be flushed. Their tech arrived on time and seemed very professional, spending about an hour and a half working on the unit and inspecting everything inside and out. However, he couldn't find where the evaporator line exited the house. His solution? Install an external pump and run a whole new drain line. The rough estimate for that was, well, a hell of a lot more than the $15 fee they charged me just to come out and take a look. When he left, I still had the exact same broken AC, was stressing over an exorbitant bill to fix it, and somehow found out I'd been signed up for a $15-a-month service plan that entitled me to another check-up in six months just in time for winter. Hoping to just get it resolved, I reached out to Service Wizard via Yelp later that evening to see if they could come back today to do the work the tech recommended. I never got a response. Frustrated, I called a different AC company. They actually answered the phone, sent technicians out right on time today, and those guys spent **five minutes** at my house before finding the external line, repairing it, and flushing my system. Problem completely solved in under five minutes, and the fee was incredibly cheap compared to the massive quote I got from Service Wizard. I will definitely be canceling my $15-a-month contract with Service Wizard and won't be recommending them going forward. Save yourself the headache and call someone else!

We opted for a new system. They had it installed and house cooled down when we returned on Saturday! We were also wanting to move our thermostat but wanted to talk through that. Several years ago, Airco installed a 3-ton variable-speed system in a house that had previously had a 2-ton unit (and a history of trouble keeping cool). After about a year of operation, our tenants reported mold in the ducts, high humidity, and a short-cycling unit. Our investigation found that the installer, Stuart, had never pulled a permit for the work. I want to be candid: it took a negative Yelp review to get Airco's attention. Jeremy reached out, recommended we upsize the ductwork, offered a very fair price, and agreed to close out the permits. I'm slow to trust, so I got second and third opinions from other HVAC companies -- they confirmed the system size was correct for the house, and that the ductwork should have been upsized at the original install. My own Manual J calculations agreed with Jeremy's. Notably, Jeremy was the only installer I could find who was actually willing to run a Manual J. He also followed through on pulling permits and getting the city inspection scheduled. Airco worked to schedule the new duct installation during the one week we'd be in town -- during peak season, no less -- and their crew moved fast and stayed professional, which I appreciated given how brutal a Texas attic is this time of year. A few days in, the system is no longer short-cycling, and indoor humidity has dropped to about 63%. Still a touch higher than ideal, but we think we can chase the rest of it down -- possibly window seals, possibly fan settings or duct leakage. I was impressed enough that I also used Airco for a plumbing call this week.

I had to have warranty work and the cost of labor and freon was almost $2,000. I asked for a itemized statement several times to see what I was being charged for as the job took less than 2 hours, but they have refused to respond after initially saying they would provide it. They are very quick to respond and get you on the schedule, but I believe the way overcharge you when providing warranty work to cover the parts that are covered under the warranty. I'd also like to say that I don't believe it is right to charge me for freon when the reason I needed freon was because of a part that was covered under warranty. If system leaks freon due to a defective part it seems that should also be covered under warranty. As far as I am concerned, their warranty is not worth the paper it is written on unless you feel like paying 40% of the original cost of your unit to cover a part that is under warranty.

I knew with the super hot temperatures that finding an A/C repair company was going to be tough. I put out a Yelp call to find an available company, and within minutes, I had Jolly Brothers Services texting me (along with several others). They had an opening for 8:00 am the next day (luckily). Their quick response drew me in, their Dad jokes made me pick them! This company is owned and operated by the same two guys. They showed up promptly, were nice, funny, and very professional. They know their stuff! They have a very vested interest in getting it right. They don't send out a technician who doesn't have a vested interested in the company brand. They come out themselves. The whole time they were here, they were very transparent every step of the way, explaining each step of what they were doing, explaining the numbers their test equipment was getting, what they did to clear the clog, how to prevent it going forward, and even gave me tips to unclog it in the future should/when required. Before leaving, they cleaned everything up and we thanked them profusely. We signed up for their maintenance program. All very affordable and professional. I highly recommend going straight to this company for your A/C concerns and don't bother calling anyone else.

I basically knew what the issue was, (a bad capacitor), but they did their due diligence and checked both the indoor and outdoor unit anyway to make sure nothing else was going on. They were able to swap out the capacitor and were in and out of the visit in less than an hour. The only negative I'd cite is the price. Every business needs to make money which is great, but I found their pricing to be higher than most, so keep that in mind as you are looking at options. The capacitor I had changed was ~80$ part and they charged $500 to swap it, so essentially 400/hour for labor. I also had them quote me replacement for a $200 fan and they quoted $950, so you get the idea. If you are looking for someone competent who can do the job right I think Alamo is solid. If you are more cost conscious and don't mind shopping around you can get things done a lot more reasonably IMO.

I do find them, unsurprisingly, rapidly responsive after they submit a quote. Then, there are the coupons, with the fine-print disclaimers. In my case, a $150 "special" promotional discount vanished when we removed a short run of basic flex duct from the scope of work. No explanation was given about the discount's removal. It just vanished from the quote. Awesome HVAC company, if you can tote the note, and navigate the, sometimes disappearing, morass of their special promotions, discounts, and coupons.

It has been a while since Carl helped us and I did not really want to write a review but I keep getting emails requesting a review, so here it is. Let me start out by saying that Carl is a very likable guy. We were introduced to him through a mutual friend and the first two times we needed help he was great and very reasonable. That second time he told me that it would be the last time he can put coolant in the unit because it is such an old unit with a leak and if he did it again, he could lose his license. Later I learned from another contractor that there is no such thing. Since I liked Carl, I gave him the benefit of the doubt on this figuring that the two people probably just interprets the laws differently. Because of what Carl said though, I decided to have the unit replaced the following year when it was giving problems again. He talked me into replacing both the condenser unit and furnace which ended up a lot more than what we budgeted for, but I decided to go ahead nonetheless. When I got home the afternoon of the replacement activity, he asked me where the filter is for the unit. I was stunned and told him that he took the unit out and would have seen it as part of it under the furnace. He told me he did but assumed there would be another place. This was an issue since the new unit did not have a space for a filter. When I asked what should be done now, he told me it was not his fault or problem. Told my wife the same thing before I got home. I kept pushing back and then he said he would resolve the issue by getting a wall return air filter grille. I was thankful for that and though that it would be a good solution. When he got back though, he complained about the placing of the current grille, being too small and that resulted in him having to cut out a larger hole in the wall. The cut-out was not done very neatly and once the grille was installed, the wall next to it had about a 3x4 inch gaping hole next to it. He told me to just get some filler, and fix and repaint it. When I suggested that it was his responsibility, he got antsy and again told me that he had gone above and beyond and that is the least I could do. In the end that is where it was left and I had to go buy the stuff to fix the hole. That left quite a bitter taste in our mouth. Before we go to the filter issue, when he showed me the new unit and how things worked, we both heard a knocking sound in the furnace and he said that part was done by his partner and he will get him to come back and fix it. That never happened but because of our ordeal, I decided to not call them back for anything. We have been using someone else since. Again, as a person, Carl is great and likable, but attention to detail counts a lot in my book so that was a fail for us. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Carl and his daughter. I met them both yesterday after our landlord contacted him for his services for our AC unit. We were experiencing a leak that had made it's way through the ceiling. Within SECONDS of looking at the inside unit, Carl had diagnosed the problem - blocked drainage pipes. He could have left it at that and collected his fee, however he and his daughter were incredibly thorough and extremely, extremely informative. I learned a lot about how the system functions and proper maintenance care that can be done in less than a minute once a month. He showed me and then my landlord, who arrived a few minutes later, how the system works inside and outside the house. Callie showed us maintenance care on the outside portion of the unit as well. My husband came home to me practically being an AC expert ;) Haha! Carl is extremely knowledgeable in this field - and this isn't even his primary career. He does this as an extra because he enjoys it and you can tell! He isn't going to come to your house simply to collect a payment; he's going to come because he honestly wants to fix the issue and wants to help you understand the root of the issue. He will be straight with you and doesn't jump for a price mark up - he's quality service for sure! read more

My A/C went out late on Friday night. I began searching the internet for an alternative to the normal folks I used and came across Carl's. Based on the reviews I decided that it was worth it to wait and call him on Monday despite the fact that it was 90 plus degrees in my house, instead of dealing with my normal not so satisfactory A/C folks. I got in touch with Carl and he worked me in on Monday. Carl found the issue quickly, identified the broken parts and not only brought them in to show me, but explained what they were, what was malfunctioning with the parts, tested the parts to help me understand what was malfunctioning but he tested the new parts in front of me so that I was sure the new parts were functioning as they should. He also explained what I needed to do to maintain the A/C inside and outside. Additionally, he showed me what I needed to look for on the outside unit the next day and if I didn't see that to call him so that he could come back out. And finally, he called the next day to ensure everything was working correctly. I can't say enough about the friendly, professional, knowledgeable service I received from Carl! I've been using Carl's Heating & Air ever since we bought our home about 8 years ago, and they've done a great job keeping both of our HVAC systems running reliably. This past Saturday we realized our downstairs AC wasn't cooling. I sent them an email, fully expecting to wait until Monday for a response, but they got back to me within about an hour and worked us into their Monday morning schedule. That level of communication alone was impressive. The repair ended up being a failed capacitor, but what sets Carl's apart is that they don't just swap the part and leave. They perform a thorough inspection of the entire system, make sure everything else looks good, and even clean out the drain lines while they're there. They're honest, knowledgeable, and have always taken the time to explain what they're seeing without trying to sell unnecessary repairs. 5 stars just isn't enough for this 10 star professional. Wouldn't you know it, our A/C broke on one of the hottest days so far this year. After being told by the large company who installed and had service my A/C in the past that I'd have to wait an entire week for a service appointment, I no longer felt like a valued customer. My friend referred me to Carl. First of all, let me say that he arrived 1.5 hrs ahead of the promised time. He got our A/C up and running, cleaned our unit, went into the attic to service the condensation drain, took the time to explained the proper care & maintenance of the equipment and was out of here before his scheduled appointment time! The repair bill was very reasonable too, plus he follows up the next day to make sure everything is working well. When was the last time you got that kind of service? Carl is amazing! We just purchased our home a few months ago and wanted a check of the HVAC system as we had no idea what the previous owners did for maintenance. Carl took up through all the details of the outdoor vents and drains, the vents and pipes on the outdoor AC unit, how to diagnose problems with the system, why our upstairs was so much hotter (lack of sufficient ceiling air returns despite the house only being 2 years old), tips on how to run our split thermostats with just a single AC unit by season, where the emergency shut offs are, where the fresh air filter was (didn't know we had one or that it was shut off), where the pipe was that needs draino once a month to keep it clean and even tips on how to run a hose from the attic to the upstairs toilet to drain our water heater once a year. I had to look for service for my A/C and was not looking forward to it. I searched Yelp and found Carl. The reviews that he had were all 5 stars. I was skeptical of course, but decided to give him a try. Well, let me tell you, he is deserving of every one of those stars. He came out the same day I called. Went through the whole system, upstairs and outside before diagnosing the issue. SHOWED me the data he was seeing and explained what it all meant. He was very informative of what the repairs he would have to make and allowed me to ask questions along the way. He fixed the system up efficiently and beyond satisfactory. He was very personable and understood my budget and did only what HAD to be done. Carl is the only A/C guy that I will use going forward. My Air Conditioner decided waiting to 1am to stop working. Now I was concerned because it was just installed last year. I called the company that installed the HVAC last April but they were backed up so I searched on Yelp and found Carl. I phoned him and left a text msg at 8am and by 10 am he and his daughter has repaired the unit (ants, ugh!). Not only did they repair the unit but explained everything they were doing along the way. I appreciated the friendly, professional manner they exhibited and I've never had technician explain while working. All I can say is I will be calling them again (not so soon, though :-D hopefully) it is a new unit after all. WOW! WOW! WoW. So let me say I am a complete stranger to this business and found this company on Yelp- out of sheer panic ! My tenant called on one of the coldest days of the year (temp in the teens!) and the heater had gone out. I had a very large, prominent HVAC company tell me at 4 p.m. that there was no way to fix, and they needed $2900 to replace it. Not having that amount, I searched yelp and found Carl. He said he could be there in 20 minutes. By this time it was after 5:30 p.m. He fixed it for $98.50. My HERO. He did say that the machine was older than dirt and would eventually need to be replaced, but that we could still get some use out of it. I am SOOO Impressed!!!!! Carl's heating and air came out 8/25/2022 to see if they could get my old 18yr AC unit working again. They said the system may have leak but we can try and add Freon and see if it works. Well on the morning of 8/26/2022 a Friday the AC was not working again so I knew I need to replace the old unit. Call Carl and they said they would see if they could locate a new unit soon. Later that day they had found everything needed and said they would be here early Monday morning 8/29/2022 to install the new Carrier heating and air unit. Well sure enough they were here at 8 a.m. and my noon they were done and gone. By 6pm that day the house was cool again. Very very happy with them and there service. Top notch customer service. Received a personal call from Carl to discuss replacement of both home air conditioners. He explained all the details and emailed pricing with no hidden fees so my husband and I could look over what was entailed. The team showed up promptly at 8:00 with all the equipment needed to replace both 2.5 ton and 5 ton A/C units. I have hired Carl a number of times over the years and he's never failed to give me top notch service. This time, the AC unit at my rental property started to fail and even in the early bit of Austin summer, that's unacceptable. I got in touch with him early on Saturday afternoon and he managed to fit me into his busy schedule. He diagnosed the problem, replaced the burnt out fan (it's a 24 year old unit) and it's running better than ever. Carl has always given me great service at a fair price and I love that he explains what he is doing as he goes along as it allows me to do minor work as needed on whatever he has just repaired. Initially I left a great review Carl came out very fast and looked at the air handler and said our motor was out after $850 he showed us maintenance tips but did not check the unit itself. Fast forward a few days after constant contact telling him it wasn't cooling the house for days he came back to say it's the condenser and now I have to replace the whole unit for almost $3000. I find it hard to believe that both were bad and now I'm shelling out thousands. He was very friendly and fast to come out but I'm still upset about loosing almost a grand for a part that didn't need to be replaced possibly. read more

Friday night on 4th of July weekend our AC goes out. Bam! Carl is on the scene within 30 minutes. He got us back up and running in less than an hour, saved our whole weekend. I live in WA but needed to have someone out to my house in TX as I am trying to get it ready for sale. I contacted Carl and he was out to my house in about an hour and had it fixed quick and at a very reasonable rate. He didn't just stop there. I also needed the invoice on the work to have more details added to satisfy the inspection report on the AC from potential buyers and he went back and updated the detail to add all of the specific work that he performed. What can I say...We were down...Carl came and worked on the problem until it was fixed! It appeared our unit had not been electronically programmed correctly from the installation, which had caused our unit to fail. The technician even indulged a few questions I had about maintaining the system. Through his discovery of the issue, he realized we needed a part, so he reached out to a coworker to bring it to him so he could continue working. We appreciated this. We are very glad our A/C failed in the spring and not in the depths of the summer. We now have faith that it will survive the Texas heat!

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! They came to our house and broke our upstairs A/C unit and now my 2 year son…read moreis left with a hot room. I called Trusted heating & cooling to sign up for the maintenance package. They came out and asked if I had any concerns with our system and told them down stairs unit was just replaced last year and the other been working fine. The technician then went and removed all of our air filters and told us we should replace them cuz they're dirty and left them on the side of the wall. He then went upstairs to look at the upstairs unit and turn on the AC to test it and went in our attic to look at the system. At this time our system was blowing cold air and everything was fine. He then and called me and said there was a problem and had me come up to the attic. He was trying to explain to me what was wrong but was having a hard time explaining it. Something about the board not working which I was confused and kept asking. Well it's been working completely fine today so I don't understand. He then told me I should just call our home warranty and they can fix it. Still confused as to if it was broken or not but said okay. Maintenance the other one. I thought this was very strange but figured out. I'll just have someone take a look at it. He then calls me outside about our brand new unit and tells me this one is broken as well. Once again not making sense and how it was broken that just it wasn't working and I should call the people that installed it and he doesn't want to touch it. It seems since I told him we had home owners warranty, he didn't want to work on any of our equipment because he couldn't upsell us. Also, I think he knew he broke the upstairs and wanted to leave as fast as possible. Once he left and I went upstairs I noticed it was tremendously hot and something wasn't right. I called the office and told them I believe it's broken. When I was looking at the thermostat nothing was working. When I spoke to the series manager he just said that his technician took videos and documented that it was already broken once he arrived. This is obviously not true because if it wasn't working we would have called our homeowners insurance not them to get are semi-annual maintenance before summer. The service manager didn't even try to help us get this resolved and back up and working basically said it was already broken and we are trying to pull fast one. I have never received this type of customer service before. I would never recommend this place to anyone. By far the worst experience I've ever had.

We reached out to Trusted Heating and Cooling for an annual maintenance service request. Our unit…read morewas working fine, although admittedly old, but we thought annual maintenance can help prolong the life of the unit. The Yelp page states that Trusted heating and cooling is based on respect and integrity, we did not experience that. We were told the scheduled maintenance to last 2 hours. The technician came in without offering to wear booties. Took down the filters and never put them back in. The technician then looked at the thermostat, turned the A/C on. We felt the COLD air come out. The technician then went to the unit, spent 15 minutes looking at the unit and said it was broken. We said that isn't the case because we could feel cold air at that exact time. He said we should contact our home warranty insurance and walked away. He then looked at our second a/c unit and said it was also broken (it is a brand new unit installed in May 2025) and to go through the company that installed it. He didn't seem like he wanted to work on anything since we told the technician we had home warranty insurance, which would limit his ability to upsell. Once he left, we noticed the first a/c unit stopped working and the thermostat signal light stopped blinking. The heat, fan and A/C stopped working. The other unit is working (thankfully). We immediately called the company back and were told the unit was broken and they will charge us $900 to fix it. And a technician couldn't come back until the next day. We told them our side of the story, how everything was working fine, but they shrugged it off. Stated they have video evidence it doesn't work. The technician was able to use the thermostat, the thermostat light was blinking and the unit was working properly. And now it is reported that it's broken upon seeing the unit. Trusted Heating and Cooling isn't taking accountability for the problem they caused, no ownership and no customer service to even offer to look at the unit to review what the technician reported and to try to fix it. They are following a report with notes that wasn't discussed with us and completely disregarding our point of the view. Do not use this company, as documented with other the reviews. We now need to find another solution to their problem, as we are now left with a A/C system that no longer works.
