I remember when I was a teen/young adult, Carls Jr. was one of my favorite drive thru places. As an adult, it's just gone downhill so much. The good thing about this location is it's right off the freeway, so if you need to make a quick pit stop it's convenient. But beyond that, it's just not good. First of all the food is so overpriced, even their "deals" aren't good, and they usually include the lowest quality version of their offerings. Second the freshness of the food is very hit or miss. As with most fast food, if it's not fresh it's hard and almost inedible. The only thing that is consistently good (when fresh) is their hand battered chicken strips. I got a coupon in the mail a 5 pieces chicken strips combo that includes a drink and regular French fries for $6.99. I handed the lady my coupon and paid ASAP. I visited this Carl's Jr. on 09/20/2025 with my kids and had a coupon for a free kids meal that came directly from their school. When I tried to use it, the cashier flat-out refused to accept it, saying it was "expired" because it had a trademark date of 2021 at the bottom. That is NOT an expiration date, and anyone should know the difference. What made it worse was how rude the employee was. Instead of politely explaining or checking with a manager, she dismissed me with an attitude and made me feel like I was trying to get away with something. This coupon was given to kids through the school as a reward -- denying it not only confused my child but completely ruined the experience. It's one thing to make a mistake, but it's another to treat customers rudely. A kids meal isn't going to hurt the company, but the poor customer service will definitely keep me from coming back to this location. read more

A location immediately off the 5. The restaurant is large and spacious and also has a patio with seats. The women's bathroom was obviously well used with full bins and one stall out of order, but it smelled okay and things functioned. As for the food, we ordered fast and had food in 5 minutes. Everything was hot, fresh, tasty, and correct. My charbroiled chicken club had a perfectly cooked chicken breast and the fried zucchini were a rare treat for me. Horrible. The female working the drive-through on 11/12/15 at 5:30pm should be moved to cleanup. Horrible. I gave my order at the drive-through and I had to repeat it several times. She did not repeat the order and when I asked where she went, she rudely said, "just drive up". The place was practically empty. She made our shakes and then spent all her time talking up the line cook, clearly that was more important than customers. When she gave me order, I learned she did not take down my complete order (remember she disappeared at the drive-through and cut me off while ordering). She asked if I wanted to wait and I said no because I was so put out. She slammed the slider door and left. How rude. Horrible customer service. Updating my 1 star review to a 4 star because this location has fixed the problem! Earlier this year the Castaic location switched from a human to an AI to take your order at the drive thru. This was frankly infuriating. For one thing, it didn't always work right. Also, I just do not want to talk to a f-ing robot. Well I'm guessing they saw a drop in business because they have discontinued the AI and are back to employing humans. Yay! Also, they are back to offering more than one dipping sauce for the fried zucchini. In the past they actually denied me when I asked for a second ranch dressing. Like wtf?!? The place is standard like most Carl Juniors and the menu is mixed. I was excited to find out if it looks like the picture. But the patty was about a tiny 1/4" thick. He is THE RUDEST PERSON I have ever dealt with! I ordered 2 California Classic Combos which are $5.99 each. I told him when I placed the order that I want regular size when he asked me what size. He said that regular is unavailable with the combo and I said fine whatever size comes with the combo. He said Medium. I got to the window and he said the total was $19 and some change. I asked him for the California Classic Combo? He said that is not what I ordered, I told him that is EXACTLY WHAT I ordered! He gave me attitude as he walked away. He came back and told me the total of $13 something. He then handed me the drinks. When he handed me the food I asked for Ranch, he said they don't have ranch. I asked for house dressing. He said "We don't have that here." I asked him, "You don't?" He said no as he closed the window on me! What the hell kind of way is that to treat a customer? I have usually liked Carl's Jr. over the other fast food places, so I was very disappointed with the order. The sandwiches were sloppily put together, way over-mayonaised, and shriveled down the size of a McDonald's cheesburger. The Western Bacon and Chicken Club used to be premium decent sized sandwiches.
