Really nice staff. Good restaurant with a good menu. Kind of a hike if you don't live nearby amd I was out of town. Greens fees were in line with the course conditions. A bit rough on the tee boxes amd greens but overall a pleasant day of golf and an attentive Cart Girl

Wow... I've played a lot of cheap courses in my day, but I've never experienced anything as ugly and poorly maintained as this excuse of a course. Please look at the pictures and the dirt patches described by the pro shop as "fairways", further saying they looked a little rough. "Rough" doesn't describe 85% dirt and 15% uncut weeds (not even grass). Cart genuinely felt like it was going to fall apart, and the roof wasn't bolted in. Entire experience was terrible, and we even stopped on hole 13 because we lost our balls in literal dirt piles. We couldn't tell the difference between the fairways and bunkers, and that's not even a joke. Save your money, please please please PLAY ELSEWHERE. I've seen Cottonwood & Mission Trails in very bad shape, and this course doesn't even translate to that. Maybe they're shutting down, I wouldn't be surprised. Would pay the $40 to never play here again honestly. 0/5 stars LOOK AT PICTURES!

We wanted to sit and enjoy the beautiful golf course over breakfast and we're so glad we did! We had the pancakes with crispy chicken and it was delicious with coffee. The staff was so friendly and we enjoyed watching the golfers too. Lovely golf course, beautiful trees, and landscaping. We explored the patio, and it would be a nice place to invite friends for a lovely time.

Gopher Oaks, I grew up in east county and remembered when this course was prestigious, sad to see the decline. Not sure how they justify the green fees, even in the summer time grass is scarce. The way I view this course is an everyday greens keeper revenge, if you're looking to test what it's like to score well on a shitty course, Carlton Oaks holds the cards

I couldn't even wait until I was done playing to leave a terrible review, this is the absolute worst course I've ever played. It looks like they haven't watered the course in a year. This place looks like Baghdad Iraq. Feels like you're playing in a construction zone. Took us 3.5 hours to play 9 holes. Course was also $80. Do not come here unless it's for free.

This course is just down the street from me so I visit often. I am new to golf and I feel that this course is challenging yet still playable. The course is maintained well enough that I only lose balls because of my awful swing, and not because I lost it in the fairway. The greens roll well and they have a good pin rotation so divots have adequate time to recover. The ground keepers are always hard at work and I thank them for giving me the best chance to bring my score down. There is a driving range to get some practice shots in. I haven't visited it in a while, but it wasn't the prettiest range I've seen. However if you just need to hit some balls in an empty field, there are some mats, plastic tees , and a ball vending machine that accepts NFC payments waiting for you! The only time I've had a problem with a person was another golfer throwing a tantrum on hole 10. The staff, from the pro shop, course Marshall, groundskeepers, and snack cart attendant, have always been kind and welcoming. I always look forward to playing golf here! P.S. I guess one downside is that tee times are only 9 min apart. So if it gets busy, it really backs up. I'd call or check online ahead of time!

I love this course. I'm out here weekly. Great staff always friendly with the nicest cart girls. Condition is always pretty top notch. Only complaint I have is the drainage isn't the best after heavy rain. But we live in San Diego so I mean not many places do any better. Great course I'll be there this week. I'll drop below some course photos. The greens are always in prime condition. The Bunkers do need some love it's never soft. But there will be a redesign in the future with the housing and course redesign sometime in the future. I may try to snag up one of the places.

I've heard its not always like that though so we planned accordingly. Even on a hot summer day in August, we were extremely comfortable lounging here for 6+ hours. We soaked in the Solstice pool on and off throughout the day, laid around on the large and very comfy lounge chairs, ordered delicious drinks at the bar which was just a few steps away (partner loved the cocktails, I loooved the mocktails), and munched on the yummy food they will deliver to you at the pool. They do some cute things like periodically bringing around chilled towels, or frozen grapes, which we may or may not have become obsessed with and making our own ever since...oh and some great musicians were playing that they said was an impromptu performance. Really lent nicely to the atmosphere. Overall, a great way to spend a birthday! Resting, recharging, luxuriating, and unplugging. This protects the fidelity of the mineral water pools. When you first walk up, there is a check-in camper. When you go in, they'll give you the information that you need for your room and stay. We opted to rent one of the private homes because of our group being larger. It was about a 2 block walk away from the resort which wasn't bad at all. The town is very small and you can literally count how many businesses are here. It's pretty cool. It was a very nice visit and I highly recommend coming to this resort and hotel. The 2 mineral hot springs pools are nice. I recommend that you upgrade with a stay so that you have access to the secluded pool, which is really private and a level up. People get day passes, but that only works at the main pool. The main pool gets very, very crowded with day pass attendees. Again, I highly recommend upgrading with a stay so that you have access to the very very nice amenities. There is a restaurant, called Long Shadow, and I'll have a separate review for that. Overall, this was a wonderful and great trip.

Beautiful Resort, Disappointing Front Desk Experience…read more The resort itself is beautiful, with well-maintained grounds, comfortable villas, and a great restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience at check-in completely overshadowed what should have been a wonderful stay. After we had already checked in and paid the required incidental deposit, we were unexpectedly told to pay an additional deposit. When I questioned this, the Front Desk Supervisor, Michael, told us that if we did not pay immediately, our reservation would be canceled, despite the fact that our stay had already been paid for. What was even more disappointing was the way we were treated. Instead of trying to resolve the situation professionally, we were met with a rude and dismissive attitude, with repeated references to "hotel policy" rather than any genuine effort to help. This happened on my husband's birthday, and it completely ruined the beginning of our celebration. The property deserves five stars, but the customer service we received at the front desk was unacceptable. I sincerely hope management addresses this issue, because no guest should be treated this way.

Depending on my energy level, I will sometimes take a yoga class prior to my massage. If this review were solely for the Spa, it would be hands down a 5 star! However, it is also for the restaurant by the pool where most of us go post-treatment for lunch. Yesterday I had Lila, & as soon as I put in my order, she had asked if I were staying there & since I was not a hotel guest, she asked me upfront for my card on file. Typically when I have gone there for lunch, they wait until the end to charge you out and/or assist you with the bill. It felt a bit off, considering that after I sat down, another Caucasian lady and her daughter found a spot to sit near me. Alex was their server, & as he took the order, he didn't ask if they were hotel guests &/or if he could put their card on file. Later I happened to walk by the bar area where the servers hang out, & I asked to speak with Lila. I let her know I have been coming here for years & no one has ever asked for me to give them my card on file upfront. I asked her if they have had a few Dine n' Dash situations? She let me know she has been there under a year but she has been asking for cards b/c some people think their food is taken care of when they leave the pool & then check out for their treatments. As a result, they are out of tips and can't go after the customers. I told her it is disappointing to hear that at such a nice place at Rancho Valencia that people would do such a thing. Even if people are coming for the first time, most humans would ask what is the best way to charge out and work it out with the waiter and/or when I have been there, the waiter or waitress will ask if I need anything else, and if not, then they will bring me the check (or I tell them hey I am ready to cash out). I had just had a fabulous massage with Noel (who is my new favorite therapist there) so to have this awkward experience when I am ready to eat and relax by the pool was really not great. To be fair, there are regulars who go there, but it was clear that she didn't recognize me & so decided to ask me upfront for my card. Whereas Alex another server, helping customers next to me, didn't ask the Caucasian lady for her card upfront. And what is so funny is that when the Caucasian lady got her food, the order was all wrong - they put dressing in her salad, put tofu on the side, and put bacon in her salad when she asked for bacon to be taken out etc. Alex was super apologetic for the mix-up in the kitchen, and the whole time I kept thinking, I wished he were my server because he was so nice and treated the lady next to me the way I have always been treated -when I have come here. Lila was more defensive and kept saying "Oh we ask for cards here and you can speak to my manager etc." I didn't come out and ask why there was a disparity from how she asked for my card upfront versus how other servers just took orders like a normal restaurant and then let guests relax and pay at the end. I still love this SPA and will come to get a treatment, but the inequality I felt from being asked for my card upfront was a subtle jab that made my overall experience not as pleasant.

My husband had just finished working six consecutive shifts at the fire department, and we were simply looking forward to a nice evening together. As we entered the parking lot, two men in a golf cart crossed in front of our vehicle. My husband honked, and there was later a brief verbal exchange about what had happened. There were no threats or physical confrontation from us, and we believed the matter was over. Later, while we were still seated at our dinner table, a woman we had never met approached us and began questioning us about the parking-lot interaction. She told us that she and her husband were club members, repeatedly referenced their membership, said she had never seen us there before, and told us she "didn't want any problems in the future." I cannot speak to what she intended, but the encounter made both of us feel intimidated, unwelcome, and extremely uncomfortable. We later learned that an Aviara Country Club member event was being held at the restaurant that evening. After dinner, we discovered that our vehicle had been extensively damaged while parked on the property. Carlsbad Police investigated, and surveillance footage from the property documented what occurred. An individual associated with the earlier parking-lot encounter became the alleged suspect during the investigation. Our vehicle ultimately sustained nearly $15,000 in repair costs. I am intentionally not identifying anyone or making any statement about guilt. I am simply describing what my husband and I experienced that evening. What has disappointed us most is Park Hyatt Aviara's response afterward. I personally contacted hotel management and was told that Hyatt was cooperating with police, which we appreciated. We were also told that someone from Aviara Golf Club management would contact us to discuss what happened. That call never came. I understand that a hotel cannot control the actions of every person on its property, and I am not assigning legal responsibility to Hyatt. My concern is how we were treated as guests after such a serious and disturbing experience. We experienced an uncomfortable confrontation during dinner, left to discover nearly $15,000 in damage to our vehicle, and had to involve law enforcement. Yet we never felt the level of concern, communication, or follow-through we expected from a five-star property. That is what has been most disappointing. We chose Park Hyatt Aviara because we expected exceptional hospitality and guest care consistent with the Park Hyatt name. Instead, we left feeling uncomfortable, unsupported, and profoundly disappointed. I sincerely hope Park Hyatt Aviara considers how guests are cared for when something goes seriously wrong during their visit.

The hotel provides beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas, which is a wonderful perk. The pool is a great size with a stunning ocean view, and the hotel also offers amenities such as a library, spa, and club room with board games and a pool table. Our room was spacious and had a beautiful view of the beach. Unfortunately, our experience was significantly impacted by the hotel's corporate events. Several guest amenities, including the library, club room, pool service, and the Beach Rambler, were closed for private functions during our entire stay. When guests are paying for a hotel partly because of these amenities, it is frustrating to find that access to them is not available. The most upsetting experience occurred on our second day. I wanted to sit in the library and read, but there was a sign indicating a private event. Since the door was open and only one person remained inside, I checked with the front desk. I was specifically told that the event had ended several hours earlier and that I was welcome to use the library. When I entered, the woman in the room told me she was using it for a call. I explained that the front desk had just confirmed the private event was over and that I could use the space. She then made several unpleasant comments about me to the people on her call before storming out. A short time later, security arrived and questioned me in a manner I found unnecessarily confrontational, including asking whether I was even a hotel guest. I remained firm and asked that we go to the front desk to clarify the situation. Mistakes and miscommunication happen. What is not acceptable is making a paying guest feel as though she has done something wrong simply for using an amenity the front desk explicitly told her was available. A supervisor initially reached out and apologized, and the hotel manager later followed up with me personally. He offered a sincere apology, acknowledged that the way the situation was handled did not reflect the Seabird's standards, and took meaningful steps to make things right. I greatly appreciated the way he handled my concerns. While it does not erase how upsetting and humiliating the experience was in the moment, his response restored much of my confidence in the hotel and demonstrated the level of accountability and service I would expect from a property of this caliber. We choose higher-end hotels because we value not only the accommodations, but also the level of service. I appreciate that the Seabird ultimately listened, took responsibility, and made a genuine effort to correct the situation.

Lastly, we booked an oceanfront front suite - only to get a completely outdated dampy room that wasn't worth the twelve hundred a night we had to pay. No ocean view as we were completely obstructed by weddings and baby showers they book on the grass in between the hotel and water. Also, these very loud parties go into the evenings. Oceana restaurant extremely slow service for mediocre food. Will not return. Stay elsewhere.

We stayed in a casita with a private jacuzzi which I still used despite it being so hot out. The rooms AC worked great! First, the biggest issue: roaches and spiders. Yes, you read that correctly. There were both roaches and spiders in my room. When I reported it to the front desk, I was shocked by the response. The employee simply said, "That's common here," as if it were completely normal. Instead of offering a meaningful solution, they handed me a new toothbrush because a roach had crawled all over mine. And that was it! Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed. I've contacted the corporate office and hope they'll offer a refund or some other form of resolution. The food was decent, but it was overpriced. You won't find much on the menu for under $13. On a positive note, the spa was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed my treatments, and the staff there were warm, professional, and genuinely caring. Along with the kitchen staff, servers, and bartenders, they provided excellent customer service. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the front desk, whose response to a serious cleanliness issue fell far short of what I expected. The furniture is falling apart and the floor is stained. The cleanliness of this place is unfortunately subpar. There were random rags just laying around for some reason, and no one picked them up (so I did). Very disappointing for the amount of money I spent...
