The New Mom Mobile
Courtney B.

Okay, Yelp Fam.... for those of you who have asked what my new mom mobile for the Things are, here it is.... The day prior to Mothers Day this year, I went to CarMax to get a new vehicle as my current one is now too small to accommodate The Things. I have purchased a vehicle from this location before, so I was familiar with the location layout and process. I was in the market for a specific car. Therefore, when I arrived, I advised the check-in attendant that I would only be interested in one vehicle. I was assigned to the sales agent Quen. While I waited for Quen to finish up with his customers, I went out to the lot to look at the vehicle. Once Quen was able to find me outside, we had a quick conversation about what I was looking for and got 'right to it'. Test Drive Quen made a copy of my license and reviewed my insurance, and provided me with the keys to the vehicle I requested. Did ya'll know that CarMax no longer requires the Sales Agent or anyone to be in the car with you when you go for a test drive? I took the vehicle for about 20 minutes, making a stop at Burger King Drive through for Thing Two and taking a quick drive on I-35. Purchase When I came back in, I started the paperwork for the new vehicle and although I was pre-approved by my selected leneder, CarMax gave me 1/2 a percent lower interest rate that what my financial institution approved me for. I ended up going with the CarMax finance option at a whopping 5.48% (these interest rates these days, even with excellent credit, make me ill). I wanted to make a down-payment with my AMEX to get some points, but CarMax only allows cash, check, or Zelle as downpayment options (where they do that). A CarMax limited warranty is included in a purchase and covers you in case of a mechanical breakdown. Additional options, such as the CarMax MaxCare warranty, may also be purchased as an add-on. This extended car warranty option offers more comprehensive coverage than its included limited warranty, which only covers you up to 30 days or 1,500 miles. Overall CarMax offers a good experience to buy a car and decent pricing compared to other major competitors. Customer service is also good, with many support systems in place. However, with CarMax, you can not negotiate the price that it quotes you for your vehicle. This means that the price you're quoted for your vehicle from CarMax is the most the dealership will pay for your vehicle. I didn't sell my car here as they 'low balled' me and instead kept my car to sell to a friend in a private sale for a higher price. It's now been 2 months that I've had the new vehicle, and other than a recall by the manufacturer, I've had no issues.

They told me nothing was wrong. Here is my car sitting in their parking lot on its axels.

I purchased my car from Carmax and after just six months, the suspension failed. I brought it in for repairs, but they kept my car for another six months and still couldn't resolve the issue. Eventually, they forced me to sell it back to them at a $10,000 loss. To make matters worse, they didn't even provide me with a loaner vehicle until four months later, long after I had already bought a new car. I swear, I will never set foot in a Carmax store again, and I strongly advise you to do the same. They sell over priced junk auction cars. See photo as it sits in the Carmax parking after they told me nothing was wrong with it. SMH

I'm not sure about the rest of Carmax, but Terry M. is awesome! He's sold our friend group many vehicles, and some are repeat buyers. He is a straight shooter and has helped many of our troops from Ft Hood (Cavazos) get into a new vehicle. I appreciate what he does for our community and for the pride he takes in his job. I will definitely look here first for Terry on my next purchase.

Fast & Friendly staff! No haggle and they're fast in processing their finance, and paperwork's which makes it easier to purchase the car. They open till 10 pm. Plenty of parking, free coffee and water in the lobby. Very clean facility.

I hate this so much that I've bought my last two cars from Carvana simply because I wouldn't have to speak to anyone. I find the stereotypical car-buying experience (new and, especially, used) to be unnecessarily stressful and taxing. Today, this has changed. When I found a slightly better deal locally than I did on Carvana, I took the plunge. From the beginning, Angela was super helpful and responsive. She didn't insist on talking on the phone and was happy to text details, which is infinitely more manageable during the workweek. When it came time to make the trek to Austin e Autos, Angela let me know that she would be off that day and handed off the deal to Isaac. Isaac is the best. Isaac put us through the paces of letting us test drive, then talking numbers. At no point did the numbers they advertised ever change. I came in with pre-approval through USAA, and they did not push me toward in-house financing. This has never happened to me before. They usually push that really hard. Once the numbers were agreed upon, we were handed over to Stephanie for the paper signing. This was equally painless, and there was no push to buy extended warranties, wheel insurance, GAP, etc, etc, etc. The numbers we discussed with Isaac were the exact numbers we signed off on with Stephanie. Incredibly painless, transparent, and honest process. My wife loves her car, and I am very impressed by the buying experience. If you're in the market for a used EV, look here first. All the stars. Thank you, Isaac, Angela, and Stephanie!

Warning - Lemons Sold Here!…read more This is a repost. Somehow my post was taken down. This is what happend to me at this dealer. I purchased a car from this dealership for my son, who was heading off to college. The Cars4uTX sticker is still on the back of what is now a broken car. At the time, it seemed like a great deal--low mileage (61,000), no accidents, everything looked clean. But after just 6,000 easy highway miles, the transmission completely failed. In my opinion, the chances that the dealer didn't know the car was on the verge of a major failure are XZERO. Just Google "Nissan transmission problems" or ask any AI platform for an overview. AI Summary on Nissan CVT Transmission: Nissan's CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) has a well-documented history of issues: premature failure, overheating, whining or shuddering noises, and more. These problems often result in delayed acceleration, power loss, or total failure--sometimes even leading to accidents. Selling the car as-is is an option, but I'd be lucky to get a few thousand dollars for it. Fixing it and then selling it is another possibility--but honestly, unlike a dealer like Cars4UTX, I'd feel guilty passing a car with known transmission issues on to another person or family just looking for reliable transportation. All I can say is this: buyer beware with this dealership. Ask every question. Do your research. Don't expect the dealer to be upfront--they just want to move inventory. This has been a very expensive lesson for us. There are plenty of other dealerships out there. Choose wisely.

WARNING Lemons Sold Here, Undisclosed Safety and Emissions…read moreDefects, Dealer Misconduct, Emissions Tampering, Contract Pressure, & No Accountability We were referred to Cars 4 UTX/Alex & Sons for cheap used cars, but warned "be careful--they sell lemons." Our 2014 Mazda CX-5 seemed fine on the outside but hid serious issues. Dealer's own shop "passed" it for emissions, but an independent inspection found an illegal O2 sensor spacer (emissions tampering) and nearly $7,000 in needed repairs. Contracts were only in English--my girlfriend (limited English, first-time buyer) was pressured to sign alone. She put $2,000 down, and is now stuck paying $430/month for 5 years ($26,000 total) for a car that is not legal to drive. Dealer refused to provide inspection or repair records, removed the car from their website after our complaints, and never addressed any issues. We filed a DMV complaint; the dealer got to see/respond to everything, offered a vague "unwind" (buyback) but never put anything in writing. Once faced with real repair costs, he stopped communicating and tried to go through the lienholder instead. Bottom line: This place has a pattern of selling unsafe, misrepresented cars, ghosting buyers, and using procedural games to avoid responsibility. Documentation available to any agency or buyer. ADDITIONAL UPDATE: Title: Emissions Tampering, Odometer Issues, and Deceptive Inspections - Avoid Alex & Sons Affordable Review: Alex & Sons Affordable Auto Sales performed the emissions inspection for a used car we purchased from a dealer on the same lot. After purchase, we discovered a 12-mile odometer gap between their emissions test and the sale, raising serious suspicion of odometer manipulation and OBD2 resets. An independent shop found an illegal O2 sensor spacer (emissions tampering), multiple pre-existing safety and emissions defects, and over $7,000 in immediate repairs--none of which were disclosed by Alex & Sons. The follow-up emissions test failed within two weeks, proving the car should never have passed their inspection or been sold as roadworthy. Their inspection allowed a dangerous, tampered vehicle to be sold to a first-time, limited-English buyer who was pressured to sign contracts alone and with no advocate. Alex & Sons has not addressed these failures or provided documentation when requested. Other buyers report similar patterns: failed inspections, odometer gaps, review removal, and major financial harm. Avoid this shop at all costs and insist on a true independent inspection before buying from any dealer that uses their services. Documentation available to regulators on request.
