Within a month the vehicle vibrated and so bad we decided it was dangerous to drive. Seems the inspection station failed to see the holes rusted through the frame of the car and never should have passed inspection according to the legitimate and honest mechanic who found the problems. The tailpipe rusted through where it connected to the engine and feel off while driving. The final straw was when the right front axle rusted so bad that the axle disconnected from the front right wheel and the car became a three wheel drive instead of AWD. The dealer refused to offer any corrective actions quoting "You signed the Purchased as is document" and the "30 day warranty had expired. Should you find a car there you like and take it to a real mechanic and have them inspect the vehicle and assure you that it is mechanically safe to drive. Pine Manor is not to be trusted. I had been taking my car to a Mazda dealership in CO to get serviced for years so I figured I would do the same here. Being new to the state I also just got an emissions inspection done a few months ago (this will make sense as you read further). Dropped my car off to get serviced and they asked when I would need it by. I told them at least by the end of day which they said would be no problem since I dropped it off at 9:30am. During the service I get a text about the status of my car. I click on a link and watch the video from the mechanic. The mechanic says I have a slew of issues. His recommendations included my brakes needing to be replaced, spark plugs to be replaced, and most concerning was "front suspension control arm busing was completely torn, and rear frame mount is completely torn." I contacted the service department to go over pricing and it was astronomical how much all of this cost, over $3,700! The lady also mentioned to me that the arm busing and frame mount alone "would not pass emissions inspection in PA". Which was funny because my car passed a few months back which I told her. She seemed very concerned about this. I had also just gotten new spark plugs and told her this as well and she said it was only a recommendation. I was not comfortable getting all these repairs done so I told her I wanted just the oil change and filters done. She told me she would contact me once my car was ready. A few hours later and I still did not hear from her. I tried calling the number and received a voicemail saying she was not available. I left a text and got an auto response saying the same thing. I waited another hour and ended up getting a message that they were closed for the day. Never received any communication from the service department, no text (and we had been texting back and forth about my car all afternoon), no call, no voicemail. As a paying customer expecting to get their car done that day, without any communication about my car needing to stay longer, I was very frustrated. Next morning I called as soon as they opened. The same lady that helped me answered. I asked her why they did not contact me about my car. She seem dumbfounded by this and said she tried and thought she left me a message. I told her I got nothing and that I would be happy to show her my call history and text history with them. She didn't acknowledge that this was any fault of hers or whoever else was working on my car. I asked if my car was ready and she said yes. I went there a few hours later when my husband was able to step away from work to take me. When I walked in she finally apologized to me. She said she looked at their system to see why I didn't get anything and it apparently went down that afternoon. Yet they can't call their customers if their system is down. Seems like a lack of customer service. I didn't want to argue, seemed pointless, so I paid and left. Few weeks later I take my car to Hampden Auto to get a second opinion. One a few minutes of glancing at my car they said there was nothing wrong with the front suspension control arm bushing and nothing wrong with the rear frame mount. My brakes were worn but didn't need to be replaced right away. Over $3,700 dollars quoted by Mazda over absolutely NOTHING!!! This inspection made more sense considering the auto shop I got my emissions inspection done at said none of these issues existed either. I always expected a dealership to have higher service prices but to completely make up recommendations and not thoroughly inspect a car before sharing information with the customer is careless. Anyone who's ever tried shopping for an affordable, lower priced quality used car at tax time will…read moretell you - it's a difficult process. Especially when you're on a time crunch with only small windows of time to see them in person. Enter the internet. Good for narrowing down what you actually want to see, but also time consuming weeding out all the ever present scams and private folks that think they're sitting on a gold mine. I confess that I have a little more experience in the buying/selling dept than the average Jane because of many years working in this industry. But even for someone as experienced as myself it's a challenging process. So when I was shopping for my son recently after his car was totaled I explored every option. I-Deal Cars made the process a little easier, even if I didn't ultimately buy from them. While I did find them on either Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace (can't remember) when I explored them further discovered they are the real deal. They have a website and a brick and mortar building unlike many of the self proclaimed "I'm a dealer working from home" dudes I encountered on my journey. They're also very available. Every time I called (even at odd hours when I expected an answering machine) I got someone live, Barry, the manager to be exact. When he said they opened at 10 am, they indeed were open at 10 am. Good thing too since we drove from Lancaster to Camp Hill just to visit them. Barry was also very accommodating. When I wanted the VIN to run a Carfax he supplied one. When I inquired about putting it on a lift he called his mechanic to schedule for us to do so. He even said we could take it home in the morning, have our own mechanic check it (that would be the husband) and bring it back the same day. Because of the distance, he even said if we wanted to keep it overnight we could - with our own dealer tag. He offered a 30 day/1, 000 mile warranty and was upfront and honest in what work was done and what needed done. He encouraged us to take it on the highway for the test drive to drive it at highway speeds. While the experience wasn't full of bells and whistles like you'd get at a higher end new car dealership it was also no pressure. Barry was casual and didn't have that dreaded used car salesman vibe going on. The inventory was plentiful and varied, and when I compared the "asking price" with Carfax and with more experienced colleagues in this industry he was a few hundred dollars under-priced. SIDENOTE: Dealers are required to post their fees, one being the doc fee which at present time is $120 for manual transactions and $144 for online processing. Unless you work in this industry one would assume you HAVE to pay this...however it is a negotiable fee. It is however ILLEGAL for you to be charged a doc fee higher than what I listed above (current as of today: 2/11/19). It is also illegal to charge more than what's posted - in their case their poster doesn't reflect the current fees and instead has the doc fee listed at $112 which is outdated. Now you know. Knowledge is power especially when it comes to negotiations!
