We found a car and we were in the financing process. The dealer Mike was a nice guy but kept leaving to help other customers. It was extremely frustrating as other employees were sitting around just talking to each other. When we went over the loan options, the only company that would loan to us was CarMax, our credit rating is 750! I found this not believable. The interest rates were high and he said you can refinance it after a year. We decided to look for our own financing. We found another car which was a much better deal and a newer car at AutoMax in Framingham. When going for financing we had a lot of options. I do not trust CarMax! read more

Everybody here is great. Very eager to help and I really like the lack of pressure. I'd give them 5 stars if they were even remotely organized. Nobody talks to each other, and something that was supposed to take 2 hours ended up taking five hours over two days. The car also didn't come with a piece of essential equipment that is included with the car, and this wasn't disclosed on the website. When I pointed out it was missing, their position was "if you didn't see it in the picture you shouldn't expect it." Well, I can't see brake pads in the picture but they come with the car. I expect them there. So, be warned that the flip side of "no haggling" is they will hide behind their inability to adjust price if anything isn't right. read more

Horrible experience with this carmax location bought a car from them last year in Aug little over 2 months of having the car showed signs of transmission trouble which I was still in my warranty .. Took the car back into to them once I was able to get off the side of the highway from my car stuffing off with dashboard warning transmission over heating. So they say they scanned my car couldn't find anything wrong etc .. Now I'm a lil over a year having the car still having the same transmission issues I take it to the shop now I need a new transmission which will cost me $4700 on a car I got last year still paying $500 payments on .. Call them nothing they can do to help me at all now I'm stuck without. A car don't know how I'm getting to work now when I got a new car trading in my old one because I had car trouble to be right back in the same situation but worse paying payments on a car I can't drive when only had for year 0 stars read more

This place is an understaffed mess. I feel bad for the people there trying to keep it afloat but it took me 4 visits each taking 1-2 hours to sell. The prob was I needed a Power of Attorney for a coowner who was out of state. I went back the second time with a notarized POA and they said the DMV won't accept online notaries (would've been nice to know when they gave me the POA form to fill out). Then I came back second time and there was a small correction that the notary made and initialed but they said again DMV won't accept (Again, a simple POA instruction sheet given out with the blank POA form seems like an easy way to prevent this). Not only that but the person who signed me in this time had reviewed the paperwork but "didn't see" the initialed mistake by notary so then I waited an hour while they were supposedly cutting the check. They gave me back my plates and said we were done and I ordered an Uber. Then the manager came out and said again POA wasn't ok. I cancelled the Uber and had daughter do another POA, pay to overnight it because offer expired next day. Fourth visit I called manager and asked if I could make an appt to avoid wait since they made me wait unnecessarily the day before and she said no first come first serve even though it was their mistake that had led me to wait day before. Fourth visit waited another 1.5 hours. If you have time to kill and patience to spare--have at it. In meantime, this location should provide specific instructions for sellers needing a POA as far as what will and won't be accepted. As well as training some of the MANY extra "sales" guy sitting around taking with one another to work in the business office that is so terribly understaffed and actually is responsible for the lions share of the work. read more

Started the transaction over 8.21.21 and paid to have the car transferred to Norwood. Car needed repairs and reconditioning and it took weeks to fix. Car was finally shipped to Norwood and due to title issues which I had to call them to find out this information was waiting for my to come test drive. I go into the dealer to test drive it and a few days later come back to run a paint meter on the car. Decide to buy the car and leave my debit card with the sales associate to finalize the purchase. I sent the sales associate an email detailing all the documents needed to get the loan with my bank and insurance from my insurance. No movement after a week and after hours of phone calls between the call center and getting hung up on and after 15-20 minute rings to get to someone live at the Norwood site I finally get a copy of the purchase agreement... then same hours of calls to get a copy of the title to my bank. Then again they need a copy of the RTA and again hours of bouncing around and dealing with the call center and then getting transferred to their business office and then to a sales guy They will need an RTA form which is filled out incorrectly. You win CarMax you have defeated me by death of a thousand cuts. Paid them 800 to transfer the car and they said in a text that it would be refunded. Haven't seen that either. Be well aware of this consumer entity (CarMax). If you OUTRIGHT own your car, and you are looking to sell your vehicle without a trade or buy a car from their inventory. CarMax is reported to give vehicle owners more cash value than a dealer trade-in for your used / owned vehicle (not-so). In my dealings with their appraisal system they gave me a cash value of 3 thousand dollars less for my premium pristine car. This cash value was less than the Kelley Blue Book & CarGurus trade-in value which was absurd--they may have had stole the car in the deal & gotten the vehicle for free. Complete waste of time. If you are looking to trade-in a vehicle & purchase from CarMax sure take a chance, but if you own the vehicle outright and look to simply sell the car do not bother. Also, even after you scheduled an appointment, and advised the check-in attendant, that you have scheduled appraisal appointment, the attendant begins to ask you redundant questions/info that was already provided from my previously scheduled appointment with them. Attendant replied, he did not see the specified appointment in his computer system. The same CarMax scheduling system I received confirmation for via email prior--not professional & complete disappointment with the process. Left without securing a deal. Arrived for my 8:30 pm scheduled time slot on a Thursday evening. My wife came in a second car since we planned to sell the car for which the estimated offer had already been provided. Inspection of my vehicle didn't start until 9:15 pm, and once it was completed at 9:30, I was told that I would not be able to receive a formal offer because it was too late in the day. I would have to come back another time. This was incredibly inconvenient and disappointing. This was never presented as a possible outcome. So I scheduled another appointment (two days later on a Saturday at 10:00 am) and returned again. Despite my explanation of how I had been treated the previous time, I was given no priority. I waited 2 hours to be able to meet with the sales associate. It took another 30 minutes to complete the sale. So I didn't get out of there until about 12:45 pm. Overall, a very poor experience because of the amount of time wasted, and inappropriate scheduling of appointments so late in the day that the department that provides the formal offers is closed. read more

Not this car max but this company, In 2015 I was driving my car to CarMax to look at an offer they made me nothing to do with them but I lost my old cars transmission on the way thier, I got thier and was allowed to look at a $5000. 2008 Kia spectra and I was very confused and I got excepted and when I was signing the paperwork they said because of my credit score I had to sign an agreement that the car could cost $20,000 and it was explained to me it probably would not if I paid it off quickly, I paid for that car almost four years struggling and recently I could no longer pay what all together cost me $560 a month and I only earned $1400 a month I had to volunteer to give it back and than it was sold and they still want $8000. So my credit will never get better and I am 61 years old so the chances of even getting a tin can with wheels is lost and with it my independence Please be very careful what you sign and no matter how nice car max is not your friend Sincerely Bernard Flaherty read more

This is the worst dealership! This is our second time in 6 months we have purchased a car here. Both experiences were awful. The first time it was 12 days before we actually drove off with our car. The first time they messed up the paperwork twice and didn't seem to know how to handle outside financing. But the car was worth the wait so we dealt with it. When someone else in our family needed a car and we found one we liked at another carmax we thought we would try again. So we had the car transferred to Norwood. Again the paperwork was messed up three times. They had to run our credit three times because they screwed up the paperwork. We had to get to managers to get anything done and even then we had mistakes, and when we asked to speak to the General Manager they refused to let us speak to her. When we finally went in to pick up our vehicle after being very angry and aggravated with some more efficient staff, we were able to get our vehicle. (By the way the General Manager was their watching us and never came to speak with us) Then when we had to have service on a few things we noticed right away we were again treated rudely. I truly believe that the staff are poorly trained here. read more

She brought it in for service a few times, got the run around . At 160 k the tranny blew. Carmax would take no responsibility and their answer was to sell her a new car. They could have had it replaced by Ford due to a lawsuit if they had done it before 150 k, to lazy and greedy trying to make more money off of a college student , no help from carmax management . I recently bought a Ford F250 truck from CarMax in North Attleboro, MA. The process was a disaster & they have no clue about customer service. I made an online appointment on a Saturday & called to confirm it before making the almost hour drive from my home only to arrive and be told my appointment was for 4 hours later. They 'squeezed' me in but had 0 knowledge on the vehicle. They told me nothing about features or abilities. I had to google it myself. Even some of the features listed on their website were wrong! And the sales guy couldn't even get my name correct! It was a used truck so some minor repairs needed to be made, which they did. However I forgot to mention that the third brake light over the rear window needed to be replaced. I called two days later after setting an appointment to pick up and purchase the vehicle. I had a 5pm appointment and called about the light around noon to which I was told "we'll see if we can get to it." Well, of course they never got to it even though they had several employees standing around. We were told they had only 1 technician and he had many vehicles to service. Spending over $40,000 I did not feel valued as a customer at all. When arriving at the dealership, even though I had an appointment that I called & confirmed, I still had to wait. I painfully sat there while they printed out paperwork and when the manager came over and I told him about our experience he said I could mail the receipt for the replacement brake light to be reimbursed. Honestly, if the truck was not exactly what I was looking for and needed, I would have walked away. If you are looking to buy a less specific vehicle take your business and money elsewhere. CarMax will never get my money or referral again but they will get my negative review and word of mouth. Literally the only highlight from the entire experience was that they did give me a full tank of gas. read more

Don't sell your car here. I went in to sell my car, which was in perfect mechanical condition when I arrived. They "looked" at it, and then they knocked off $1,600 off the price because they said the check engine light was on. It was not on when I drove it there. I am sure of it. They said they don't "touch anything" when they look under the hood, but they definitely did something to it in order to set off the check engine light. Also we waited for four hours even though we had an appointment. Everyone was nice, but I think that's the point. They get paid by the hour to be nice to your face while Car Max rips you off behind your back. read more

2011 BMW 335i with 33,649 miles, Black on Black( Fully Loaded) I bought this car for business purposes, if I was smart I should have followed my business partner's advice & get a new car from BMW directly which is the normal process we usually do, as both I & my family members drive BMW'S mostly & other European brands,( Leases) but I wanted this specific car, because in 2011 I originally drove the 328i with the turbo & absolutely loved that car. But turned it in after the lease & was not able to at the time take the car for the purchase price after the lease.I searched for this specific color features style miles everything I put a lot of hard work in to finding this car. as I plotted my business plan of making the car a rally car for my youtube channel ,Found the car at a Florida Carmax had It shipped to mass for over 700 bucks plus & 3 weeks wait, gave them 20% of my purchase price to own the vehicle. There is no trouble in getting your money but you will have trouble with your purchase. I HAVE LOST MONEY PATIENCE TIME & the list goes on, as my not even first payment owned CARMAX BMW sits in the shop a week plus, as we haggle over not the (price),but what will & will not be fixed. I will be honest at first I called racism. in my mind I was being pleasant, quiet ,nice ,cordial, respectful taking blow after blow just being calm not blow up not raise my voice just relax & follow the proper channels. I refuse to blow up, I refuse to curse,I refuse to act like an animal in the store of carmax Norwood ,I absolutely refuse to act like an animal in your store in front of your customers, however I am going to use the power I have on my youtube channel to document & let other potential buyers of these high end sports cars know not to purchase these vehicles from CARMAX. CARMAX does not care once you have purchased the automobile & your 5 days of ability to return it has passed. you will be allocated 30 to 90 days to fix any issues that arise & it will be done at time when they feel like & most likely if taken by word of mouth & not written will not be addressed. I REFUSE to stoop to the level of how carmax treats its customers so I will take my loss I made a bad decision of buying this auto from carmax but I did find THE car I've spent 2 plus years looking for with under the 50 thousand mile mark, as in my head I said less miles less to fix. but I guess I was wrong. I know what I've gotten myself into purchasing this vehicle they break but I'm not suppose to pay over 30,000 dollars for a car with 8 grand worth of issues & treated like a monkey for asking to have it fixed. I am not able to refinance the car as my credit union doesn't want to make a move to pay them all that money & end up with the problems. CARMAX doesn't care about you as the customer & that's an honest review, I've lost 6000 bucks last week because I have no sportscar but a Nissan rogue to drive, really doubt ill be doing any flybys on youtube in a Nissan Rogue in a rally. we have decided to bite the bullet as we were already stupid enough to not return the car the first 5 days. Head light out, No BMW book for instructions if needed.Navigation deck does not connect phones by usb or bluetooth & because of this issue I'm guessing the previous owner punch the outlet into the car it was sold the same they didn't even fish it out my mechanic did only to figure out it wasn't working anyway.car was leaking for the first two weeks before my windshield was replaced windshield was full of scratches from a defective wiper then started to leak. Transmission needs service as it jerks a typical 335i problem. no wheel alignment they simple changed two bad tires & rotated them. Plus they noted damage that wasn't present to drive the offer down even more. When I mentioned what the Kelly blue book value was the associate said "what's that like trade in value". The only good thing I can say about my experience here is that we didn't have to wait an unreasonable amount of time to have an appraisal on my 4 year old car which I am considering trading or selling to buy an SUV. But the offer on my car, which truly is in excellent condition with low mileage, was ridiculously low, far below even the nada book "rough condition" number. The reason given was a bent rocker arm below one of the rear doors. Estimates to repair this have been in the $1,000 range, yet their offer was several thousand shy of even the lowest book trade in values. Even the new car dealer's first offer was much higher. This was the best car buying experience I have ever had. As a woman, I am often "mansplained" to, and this did not happen at all. My sales associate, Mitch, decked out in white Doc Martins, looked me in the eye (to be fair, we were both in face masks) and addressed me while mostly ignoring my husband. He was respectful, informed, and was clearly excited about the Kia Sorento I was Interested in. I won't be going back here. I went in ready to buy a $35k used car off their lot, and had financing already arranged. I was told there would be a 30-45 minute wait for someone to appraise my trade-in. A bit over two hours later, I walked out. Just as I was about to drive off they called me and said they were ready. Fine. I went to test drive the car I wanted to buy. The test drive consisted of driving about 1 mile up route 1, and then back to the dealership, with zero highway time. Since I waited so long, they were about to close. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, figuring I'd come back later in the week to finalize the purchase, and have a longer test drive before I did so. Except, the purchase didn't happen, and here's why. We got back and waited a few more minutes for the appraisal results. CarMax makes their purchase offers based on an algorithm, and has a large database of transactions to draw from, I get it. The problem is their appraiser outright lied about the condition of my vehicle, and failed to account for ANY its option packages, some of which added considerable value. The most egregious claim was that two body panels had been repainted. This is a vehicle purchased new 18 months ago, of which I am the only owner. I'd know if body work had been done. Bottom line: they plugged false data into their algorithm to ensure it came up with a lowball price, and so it did. I was offered well below KBB/Edmunds "poor condition" value for my nearly pristine vehicle. The offer was $1000 less than their selling price for another example of the same vehicle on their lot, which was one year older, had 67k miles vs 17k, a lower trim level, and none of the option packages. I understand they need to make a profit, but the offer was $7.5k less than their asking price for a similarly optioned vehicle on their web site. At the prices we're talking, that's a 44% markup. No thanks. I can't imagine the CarMax algorithms are optimized for that profit margin, and have to think the lies with regard to the vehicle condition had everything to do with the lowball offer. read more

He joked with us and made us feel at ease. The results were great as well: they gave us $200 above what Kelly Blue Book had quoted us, cut us a check on the spot and took off our old plates. Everything about the company is organized and professional, but easy-going and fun. My husband bought his car here first after his tires were stolen and the thieves totaled his car. It was so easy and pleasant, I called the same guy when I needed a new vehicle. I located a Honda I wanted at one of their Memphis locations and had it transferred. Only 6,500 miles on it, and still had the protective film over the touch screen and buttons- and I was able to save a couple grand. After dealing with 2 other dealerships and their obnoxious reps, this was amazing. read more

Can you hire at least one mechanic who knows what their doing? Just One? I call and tell Amanda it's not fixed or it's a "bad part" she books me an apt, but doesn't tell anyone, or note the bad part?!? If I didn't buy your warranty, I'd fix it myself.
