There are 4 reasons to come here :- 1. Prices are competitive 2. Selection of bikes is good (we went for Trek leisure bikes) 3. They are super knowledgable & not bike snobs (didn't talk down to us) 4. Owners are great and Netty is totally barking mad and should be on the Carmel tour attractions. Joking aside, I would recommend this shop wholeheartedly it was a great experience buying from here...

My new Trek FX Sport 4

We've been getting our bikes serviced here at Carmel Bicycle for a long time and I finally pulled the trigger on a new one. Just purchased a new 2022 Trek FX Sport 4 Carbon! They took great care of me on the sizing and selection of which bike was right for my needs and this thing is so much fun to ride!! I recommend Carmel Bicycle for both service and new bike purchases to all my friends.

Easy to give five stars. I was down in Carmel for the weekend riding and badly buckled my rear wheel - an old Campagnolo set. Replaced the wheel in ten minutes for a very reasonable price and I was on my way. Thank you!!

I'll be back to post a full review later - but for now let just say these folks are outstanding in service, attitude and selection! Luci N & I were trying to find just the right commuter gloves for our son who's riding 1.5 hours/day thru the mean streets of SF traffic. Rob carefully explained his selection and guided us to the ones we needed. They had at least 20 different types! Netty and Rob took great care of us, give em a try!

Any place that charges you $15 to borrow an Allen Wrench should not be trusted.

Perhaps the bigger places prey on tourists but Rooster Wheels Bike Shop is a true hole-in-a-wall in the best sense possible. On a random weekday afternoon, we got there as a dad and his two daughters were happily loading bikes into their car. One guy was finishing up his transaction and three more potentials customers came by...all while we had only been there the short time we were there. All this to say that William was juggling many things at once from repairs to sales to rentals and yet he never rushed anyone (including us). He seemed so kind and honest and very down to earth. He checked every single bike, filled tires with air as needed, and even let me have a wrench to adjust one of the bikes. Who does that?!??? So awesome. On the COVID front, he had the front roped off so customers aren't touching all the bikes, he wore a mask, & used sanitizer on every bike to disinfect and constantly sanitized his hands. Last random bit to share....William was great with my kids. Very gentle and encouraging to my younger kid by telling her she could learn to ride a bike and gave examples of his own kids learning at the ages they did! And his dog Pedal was such a well-behaved and sweet dog. If you're the kind of person that uses kids and dogs to gauge a person, let that be a nugget of info for you! What a lucky gem of a find for me and my family! We will be repeat customers. Thanks William!!!!

They have a few different…read moretours so make sure you know which one you booked as all start from the same place and (from what I could tell...) same time. Cathy actually texted me the night before to introduce herself and provide a few instructions and tips. A key tip is bring water and a small back pack or fanny pack to put the bottle in. The bikes don't all have baskets and the baskets don't hold things very well. So you might also bring a small bungee cord to keep things "in the basket" should you get a bike with a basket. Check in was a breeze. The most "difficult" part of the whole tour was finding helmets that fit and sizing the bike seats There were 6 in our tour. We left right on time at 10 and got back at 12:45. We stopped multiple times for photo ops and to look at different properties. We even got to walk through the La Playa hotel which is a beautiful property! I loved seeing and learning about the Comstock homes and the fact that the homes in Carmel by the Sea do not have street addresses. (They will soon as a new reg has passed that every property now needs a proper address... Not just a name.) All in all, I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the tour very much. I don't ride bikes often anymore as an adult and this was the first time riding an E-Bike. The learning curve is easy once you know the difference between Eco, Sport and Turbo. I enjoyed it and it made the tour almost effortless. Highly recommend Mad Dogs! Note....the coffee shop is just up around the corner. You cannot access it directly from the bike shop.

So many hours and days on bikes. And then, after moving to a place where biking wasn't all that anymore and Oakland streetscapes turned into a screen from a super Mario game I gave the last bike away and didn't look back. But a few weekends ago we were all what shall we do why not head to Monterey and rent a bike and ride on that cool trail from downtown along the dunes to who knows where. And thanks to the friendly red asterisk searching tool we picked Workhorse as the provider of our two wheeled adventure and it was an excellent choice. Besides the bicycles themselves, which were tuned with good tires and brakes and perfect for the task, the entire experience was top shelf. Clean shop, many new and used bikes that I now long for again and need to move out of super Mario land so I can ride again. Professional helpful friendly staff. Their workbench in service shop area was so clean! Good mechanics take care of their tools. I stopped by on 9 August 2025 to check out the new Specialized Turbo Levo 4s and Craig took the time to go over the features of the models I was interested in, reviewing the pros and cons for each bike. Craig was down-to-earth and trustworthy, sharing insights into how he decides what products he carries in the shop. His store manager, Robin, then took me on a guided test ride around the Salinas neighborhood. He took the time to let me explore some of the capabilities of the bike and answered all my questions. I spent the next two days doing more research, and after email exchanges with Bridgette after business hours, pulled the trigger on an orange 2026 Specialized Turbo Levo Comp on 12 August 2025. I believe in the principle that you buy the seller first, which is why I decided to buy from Craig and Bridgette. I felt they were good, high character people, and the awesome purchasing experience and post-sale customer service reinforced that feeling and conclusion. I cannot recommend Bobcat Bicycles enough...they are my go-to shop for servicing my Levo. I have also returned to the shop on several occasions, picking up new pedals, grips, and a couple of Specialized shirts and a pair of Specialized shorts at a great price. Craig was there each time greeting me like a welcomed, long time customer.
