There were 12 posts supporting a wrought iron fence on a wall at the entrance of our HOA Community. Seven were in various stages of corrosion at the base of the fence, where they met the wall. Only one of eight wrought iron fence companies contacted would entertain looking at our problem to replace the posts, while the other seven only repair fences that they installed. This fence contractor withdrew due to the fence sitting on a brick wall topped with blue stone slate. Carmel Welding was contacted and they took on the job of removing one post and planning replacements, which were highly successful and at reasonable cost. Avoid this place if at all possible. I had a heat shield that the 2 brackets detached from the backside and needed to be welded back in place. I called Kevin and told him that I had the 2 brackets and the heat shield he said he could do the weld no problem. When I go t there Kevin came out said it would be 100.00 which seemed a bit pricy but I needed to be able to put the shield on my motorcycle that I was selling and bit the bullet. Kevin, said it would be completed the following week. I called back the Friday, the next week and Kevin said he didn't get to it and it would probably be another week. Terrible customer service in my opinion. I called another welder who listed his service as mobile. Ye came to the house completed the job in less the. An hour and charged only 50.00. read more

Rented U haul truck. Was busy time, yet Matt explained clearly how the process worked. Unfortunately. U haul cancelled our reservation ( corporate issue advising there were no trucks available). Matt went above and beyond to ensure we had a truck to rent. Have had my zero turn mower repaired here in years past, they always called me and went over what needed to be done. I have bought several Stihl OPE products from Carmel Welding. Was OK experience, but they certainly lack a retail mindset. I have also bought repair parts from them in the past. True Stihl parts are expensive everywhere, and no different here. I don't fault them for this. I recently bought a new ignition coil for my Stihl M270C chainsaw. installed it and saw ran for maybe 30 minutes. Replaced spark plug (twice). Isolated the coil and could get no spark. Removed and re-installed the coil, still no spark. While there could be other issues, this certainly appeared like a coil issue. Returning electrical parts for any powered tool or auto is often problematic. No different with this interaction. Biggest problem is the assumption that I do not know what I am doing and therefore the PART is not the problem, but I am the problem. I told them I bought a $15 part from China (versus their $75 part), and that my saw works. Still the part was not the problem and they indicated that Stihl would not take the part back. The verbatim quote from Carmel Welding was "sorry!". CW having an issue with Stihl does not surprise me. Against all odds and the statistics of manufacturing, I am sure Stihl believes they make no defective parts. So, there may be an issue with the manufacturer and Carmel Welding; my business with Carmel Welding and with Stihl is over. All businesses must make tough decisions. This one could have been handled much differently and both Stihl and Carmel Welding might still have my business. The loss of my small amount of business with both companies will not cause them to lose sleep. read more

Done with this place once and for all! Have had several service visits with my mower, trimmer and snowblower there over the years, and each time I swore would be the last because of delays, incorrect repairs, and indifference to the customer. Because I live so close, I thought I would give them one last chance when my Lawn Boy mower needed service. The service area is a disorganized dump, and the employees are the most unhelpful (and at times confrontational) I have encountered anywhere. No offer to help unload the mower from the car, just a handful of employees drinking coffee and watching me through the window. They told us one price on the phone and it was more than double when we picked it up. We're not even certain they did everything they were supposed to. Ron was obnoxious and tried to pick a fight. Worst experience here. I reserved a uhaul 3 weeks in advance from when I needed it and a friend suggested I call to make sure it was still reserved for me a few days before my scheduled pick up. And just like my friend suspected, they had lost my reservation and all uhauls in Carmel, Noblesville, and northern Indy were completely gone for the day I needed it. Terrible service time and time again. Called to get information on a uhaul rental and got no call back. Called two days later and the phone rang over and over with no pick up. Called the next day and left a message with no return call. Had to drive there and they had nothing. Every time we get the lawn mower serviced it takes a month and they don't call you. Unauthorized repairs, non-communicated repairs, mis-repairs. 1 simple Fall tune-up has turned into a disaster. Now, given the dispute with these unauthorized repairs (which resulted after their mis-repair) they are not returning my mower. The 1st measurable snow of the season today and I can't plow my drive. I called Carmel Welding in advance to get an estimate for a standard tune-up service on my snowblower and was quoted $89.99 plus any parts if needed. When I went to pick up my snowblower after it had been serviced I was told my bill totaled $243.27. As a reasonable person, I expected some small part expenses for spark plugs and did not expect an over-priced blade replacement without some type of prior notification and approval. I was even charged an additional $40 for labor to replace paddles I didn't request nor approve. When I questioned the higher than expected bill and said it was unacceptable, I was simply told "the $89.99 didn't cover parts, and it was all done...sorry". There was absolutely no customer service involved, and when I told them they had just lost a customer they did not seemed surprised nor concerned at all. I would not recommend this establishment for any service nor product....Do not waste your time nor money and go somewhere else. I stopped in not knowing they were closed, realized after I noticed the lights were off, but was still greeted by one of the owners, Bill Jr. I said sorry and was going to leave but he said it's ok and wanted to know what I needed. I told him I needed a lawn tractor battery, my mower wouldn't start and I needed to mow pretty bad. He went in the back and found what I needed and sold me the battery even though they had already settled their money for the day. In this day and age it was nice to have someone take the time to help someone when they didn't really have to. COMPLETE IDIOTS!!! Went in there to have an exhaust flange kit installed and they welded it in. Welded the flanges together welded the nuts to the flanges and just made a big welded Mess screwed up my exhaust headers my heater boxes and the flange kit cost me well over $500 !!! read more

I will never go this place again. My new mower didn't work. The dealer said I need clean the carb. I brought my mower to Carmel Welding. They charge me $101 for clean and change the carb engine. I don't think y carb engine need change and my mower is in warranty. They let me contact to the manufacturerfor the warranty. last time they said they will contact the manufacturerif it is in warranty when my moser out of oil. My friend had a mower that same the model and same the problem I had. He brought it to the dealer and without any charge when dealer changed a part. I will never go this place !!!!! read more

Just reviewing their repair service, not the rental offerings. Do not take something in here for a repair. Took in a power washer to get repaired, and it took over a month with no updates offered. When we picked it up, the bill was over $150 for a $22 part. Labor was $115. Worst part was no warning that what was thought to be a simple and inexpensive repair would be so much. After we got it home it didn't work. Would start OK (this was the issue), but then stop after less than a minute. After about 30 minutes of trying to get this to work we brought it back. They claimed to have tested it, but that doesn't really make sense. Instead of offering to fix it for free, they said they'd call me and tell me how much it would be (at my request). When I said that I've already paid 60% of my purchase price to get the first repair done, the guy at the desk said he would have no idea of how much I paid to buy it. Again, this doesn't make sense because they are in the business and would know the general value of a pretty basic power washer. Overall this was a terrible experience and I would not recommend taking anything in here for repair. Find a reputable company with good and friendly customer service and customer-centric policies. read more
