I like this little India center, wish it was bigger. There is a grocery store, restaurant and a place to buy snacks/sweets.

What makes this place unique is that it's…read moreactually made up of three separate stores--two grocery markets and one dedicated to merchandise featuring everything from adorable Japanese plushies and cookware to cosmetics, electronics, and so much more. And yes...I had to explore all three! Both markets were bright, clean, and incredibly well organized. One of my favorite sections was the tea aisle. As someone who absolutely loves tea, I was in heaven. Their selection is huge, with everything from loose-leaf teas to powdered varieties that you don't typically find in traditional American grocery stores. I'll definitely be back to stock up on a few new favorites. I originally stopped in to purchase a matcha whisk set, but it was a little more than I wanted to spend. That didn't stop me from finding a few treasures, though! I ended up browsing the cookware section and picked up a beautifully designed set of reusable chopsticks along with beginner-friendly M-shaped training chopsticks. One unexpected highlight was getting to try a hand massage machine. It applies pressure to acupuncture points throughout your hand, and wow--it felt amazing! I'm seriously considering going back just to buy one. The produce section also looked fresh and inviting, so I can definitely see myself returning to shop for groceries. Plus, since my sons love anime, I already know they'll enjoy checking out the merchandise store with all the fun Japanese collectibles and character items. Whether you're looking for authentic Japanese groceries, unique kitchenware, specialty teas, or fun gifts, Tokyo Central & Main is absolutely worth visiting. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by--you'll probably leave with more than you planned, just like I did! And you already know you can always thank me later

Customer service and operating hours are unacceptable…read more I have visited multiple times, and the storefront has remained closed. The business continues to claim the closure is temporary, but it has been well over a year. At this point, it should be communicated honestly as permanent. The only sign posted is sun-faded, and the website directs customers to Spicy Lao Kitchen, which also provides poor customer service and lists inaccurate operating hours. For weeks, they have displayed a notice stating they are closed due to kitchen issues and to return the following day. I have done so repeatedly, only to find the same sign still posted. Picking up online orders is equally frustrating. Customers receive a text notification that the order is ready, but when arriving, staff often have no idea where the order is. On my most recent visit, I waited in the parking lot for over an hour before the issue was resolved. Their jerky is excellent, but the effort required to obtain it makes it not worth the trouble. Running a business comes with challenges, but when the same issues continue for months and years, it is time to restructure. Excuses involving staffing, shipments, or transitions do not explain away the pattern that customers are repeatedly experiencing. I sincerely hope the business resolves these problems. Until then, I have advised the many people I introduced to JL Jerky's to purchase only online and to expect a 3-4 week delay before receiving their order.

When I arrived, the employee told me the jerky was actually stored at another location and she didn't have a key to access it. I then called the number listed on their website, and the lady who answered told me they would just ship the order instead. Fast forward 14 days later no package, no updates, and no communication at all. I had to call them again, and the same lady told me to call the pickup location myself to see if my order was there. I explained that this should have been handled on their end and asked her to contact the store and let me know whether my order was available for pickup. She agreed, asked me to text her my name and number, and said she would call me back. It's now been another day with no response. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I've had poor communication, disorganization, and zero follow-up. Very disappointing.

We picked up a meatball sandwich, the chicken cutlet and the Americano sandwich for take-away. It's a walk-up and pay kind of spot where you can either sit and eat it there in a casual environment, or get it to-go. We would have eaten there but had plans with a friend and bring some food over already...So we picked up a couple of things from the well-curated market as well. --About the food --- It's so hard to choose a favorite because each sandwich was worthy of getting on-repeat. But, if I had to choose I'd say the meatball was my perfect bite- the sauce was phenomenal, the basil and fresh mozzarella on their choice of bread gave it a unique edge on other meatball sandwiches around town. The bread is amazing I can't stress that enough! It's airy with chew and the perfect crunch. I really can't wait to go in and try some pizza- might try it tomorrow? I've added some close-up photos of the sandwiches so your stomach and mouth can see what I'm talking about. Go in and check them out. Great food and warm service. You will be so glad you did!

I should have purchased the Beurre d'Isigny butter here rather than going to Paris, buying Bordier butter vacuum sealed butter, having the hotel freeze it, then paying extra for check in luggage since it's a colder storage area. Cuisenery didn't have Bordier butter but when I was doing my online research, I found that both of the brands I mentioned are pretty good. I actually liked my Beurre d'Isigny butter better, but that's more likely due to it being unsalted versus the salted version I bought in Paris (apparently, you MUST use salted on your bread per the Parisians). They also had a bunch of other frozen foods and condiments, including frozen escargot in puff pastry, frozen baguettes, mustards, and jams.

My first stop after moving back to San Diego: my beloved local Nijiya Market Oh how I missed you!…read moreThis is my favorite of the 3 JP markets in SD. My home!!! First of all, thanks so much for being open on July 4th!! So appreciated. Happy to celebrate my United States of Nijiya today! When I lived in SD 3 years ago, Nijiya always had such an amazing selection of produce, shelf items, sushi, korokke, miso (I didn't see こだわってます today tho)... and today was no different even though it's a holiday. Super well stocked and clean, bright, welcoming. They always have like 5 different varieties of negitoro which is my fav. I can't even tell you how comforting it is to come back after 3 years in Ohio lol I love that they have herbs and plants outside. Can't wait to buy some and inevitably kill them by accident later :) Staff is always sooo sweet here. The line always moves really quickly. Fish quality is always so fresh and delicious. Maybe the bento boxes etc aren't as flashy as Mitsuwa (from what I remember) but they are tasty and not super expensive. I also love that they have so many types of korokke and yakitori. I am so glad to be back and soooo glad to get my comfort food & feeling from Nijiya today. いつもありがとうございます!!!

We wandered through every aisle and had the best time discovering products you just don't see at your average grocery store. From authentic pastas and sauces to chocolates, cookies, and specialty ingredients, there was something new around every corner. The deli case is equally impressive, filled with meats and cheeses that would take any charcuterie board from "nice" to "where did you get all of this?" The store isn't large, but every inch is packed with something worth looking at. It's the kind of place where you go in for one item and somehow leave with a bag full of things you never knew you needed. If you're spending time in Little Italy, don't just visit the deli--take a few extra minutes to explore the market. Just be prepared for the toughest decision of the day: figuring out what not to buy.
