I heard they were a very good meat market, but I was even more excited when I learned that they also have restaurant inside the store. I am such a food whore. At any rate, for breakfast, I ordered the "Huevos a la Mexicana" with a side a corn tortillas. The Mexican scramble came with chopped serrano peppers, onions, and tomatoes, not to mention a side of beans and rice for $13.49 plus tax. The scramble also comes topped with a couple of slices of Mexican Panels Cheese. I did like that! The eggs were well scrambled with all the ingredients and well seasoned. They definitely did not hold back on any of the ingredients, especially the fresh hot peppers. As a results, the scrambled a good heat, just the way my father would of liked it. I liked it, too. Both the rice and beans were very good. The beans were fantastic and the rice was well prepared and cooked to the right texture, but they could of used a little more seasoning. I used the locally made corn tortillas to make breakfast tacos with the scramble and the tasty hot sauce they offered. Every body was super friendly at this hybrid meat market and eatery. Did I mention they have a meat counter here, too? It's a cool little hidden gem in El Cajon.

After another 25 minutes (45 total), we just threw in the towel and asked for a refund. The guy behind the counter turned around and grabbed our food that had been sitting there for 40 (!) minutes (saw it placed there right after we paid) and goes, "oh, my bad! Here you go, it might be a little cold though" with a straight face. Like, are you kidding me? We got our refund and just left after wasting 45 minutes of our lives here. I hate giving negative reviews, but this place is trash and likely only surviving on boomer nostalgia (we were the only customers under 40 here). Prices aren't competitive either. There's so many other spots to go to in north county, it won't be surprising when we hear about the revival attempt not working out (original owner passed and family is trying to resurrect it). So all in all, skip this spot and go somewhere that won't waste your time and try to serve you old/cold food with a straight face (c'mon bro).

It sounded good but we also weren't really feeling like going "out" and something that could be delivered or that we could pick up seemed like the better play. All the typical poke places showed up when we searched but none of them really sold us. Well, good thing I remembered that Valley Farm's poke game is strong... really strong. Believe me, I know that those of you who don't know Valley Farm will likely say "really?" when I detail that this sleepy little Spring Valley market kicks out poke as good as anywhere else in SD, but it's true. It's a sleeper of a choice but the quality and price will make you a fan, trust me.

Valley Farms Market is one of San Diego's hidden gems. From the moment you walk in, you can feel…read morethe difference. The store is clean, beautifully organized, and filled with high-quality products you don't always find at larger chain grocery stores. What I love most is their fresh selection, especially the produce, specialty items, and unique gourmet finds. Everything looks vibrant and carefully displayed. You can tell they take pride in what they offer. They also have a full butcher shop with everything you could desire. The selection is impressive, and it's wonderful knowing you can get high-quality cuts prepared fresh right there in the store. It adds such a personalized, old-fashioned market feel that you just don't see everywhere anymore. Another favorite of mine is their fresh-pressed cold juice blends, which I absolutely love. They taste incredibly fresh, and you can truly tell the difference in quality. It's such a treat to grab one while shopping. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, and welcoming. It truly feels like a neighborhood market where customer service still matters. Whether I am picking up everyday essentials or something special for a gathering, I know I will find something wonderful here. If you appreciate quality, variety, and a pleasant shopping experience, Valley Farms Market is definitely worth a visit. I always leave happy!
