Stopped by for dinner on Friday night, they had a specials menu that sounded delicious, but we were in the mood for something abit more straight forward so Spinach strawberry salad, Hamburger and the club sandwich. The salad was delicious, we ordered the homemade potato chips with the burger they accidently brought fries but corrected it immediately. Both the burger and the chips were great. The club sandwich was decent but needed a bit more mayo. All in all a great meal even without the wonder service, we sat in the bar and servers never fail to deliver. read more

We ate here for the first time with our family from out of state and we had a good experience. There were four adults, three kids, and a baby and besides being early Sunday, we did not have to wait for too long to be seated (20 minutes). Kids got pancakes with strawberries and eggs, my husband got Eggs Benedict, and I got fried chicken steak and fried eggs. I don't remember what my brother and sister in laws had though LOL But they also like the place Everything was good, however the breakfast potatoes were little bit dry. Coffee was decent as well. Not the best, not the worst. Waitress was really nice and the ambience was clean and cozy. Parking lot is big, which is always a plus for us. I would definitely come back here sometime to enjoy having breakfast and maybe try lunch or dinner menu for a change. read more

Stopped in for lunch. I had been here once before a few years ago. At that time the service was good, menu was ok, but the food tasted terrible. Thought I would give it a second chance, especially considering my date hadn't been here. Service still remains good, menu is even shirter, but they remain consistently bad in food. I really don't know how you can mess up frozen chicken strips that are deep fried, but it was. Fries were under cooked and soggy while the ranch dressing I had planned to used tasted like it had fine bad. It's really unfortunate there are not many cafe options in Carnation, WA. I recommend skipping this place and head down the block to Ixtapa instead. read more

I have been here a few times over the years for both breakfast and lunch. They have a great dinner menu plus cocktails, wine and beer. I wanted to support our local restaurants during this Covid and so ordered some takeout today. My reuben sandwich was amazing. We all order different things, and we've never had anything we didn't like. Last time I tried a hamburger. It was huge, the meat was delicious, and was cooked to perfection. This place has gone really down; in the past we enjoyed it for lunch/brunch. We went on Father's Day and ordered scrambled eggs with biscuits and a breakfast burrito. Wait more than 1/2 hour for the food, which was dumped on our table with no butter/jam for the biscuits. The honey packets were extremely difficult to open, both hubby and I were trying hard, but no one noticed or came to our aid. Saw the waitress serving other tables and refilling coffee. When we were nearly done with food, I realize I wanted a refill of my decaf. Waitress never checked back with us. My husband had to agressively flag down the front desk person who walked by 3 times without looking at us. Finally, she noticed and I got a refill. I told the waitress the service was awful, and she seemed surprised! I left 0 tip, and I never ever do this. Usually I leave 20% but I just couldn't tip for this service. Will not return. We've had good experiences there in the past, unfortunately, last Thursday was not the case. I try to be sensitive to the fact that a lot of businesses are struggling to find help, but that wasn't the case here. Our server was just interested in doing other things like socializing with other staff members in lieu of taking care of us. Additionally, we believe our daughter may have gotten food poisoning. I tried to attach her sudden onset symptoms with other causes, even contacting her friends parents to see if they were sick ,potentially attributing it to a flu or stomach bug. Given the sudden onset (within an hour of eating there) and her symptoms of violent vomiting and also things coming out the other end all night, food poisoning fits the bill. We've even went back to look at everything she ate in the last few days. She wasn't sick before this because she just ran a track meet and hour before we ate there, and PR'd in her events. You don't do that when you are sick. So, we're not happy. We have a sick kid who is pretty upset, as now she is going to miss a big meet this weekend. This was once a place we recommended to friends. Sadly, we will not return and will make sure we tell friends about this experience. read more

I went to this restaurant once before with clients and I'm sure in hindsight it was my mistake that I didn't order my salad the way I wanted it. I've been back cents and had amazing food and oh my gosh the desert it is spectacular. Today I ordered some catering items for my open house. Both of the owners gave me careful instruction on how to best serve the food. I could tell they really wanted me and my guests to enjoy the food. They even loaned me some trays that the food came on to serve it and sent me with some other trays. I love this place. I was very wrong not to get them a five star to start out with. Well, I have to apologize to all of my future sandwiches because I can't imagine them being as stellar as the one I had today. I chose the Wagyu Meatloaf Sandwich and was rewarded with tender meatloaf that had amazing depth of flavor, great sauce, some cheese, and crispy onions. The slices of meatloaf had spent a little time on the flat top as had the bread. So filling, so good, I need more. My son ordered the Tolt Burger, which is gigantic, and was declared the best burger he'd ever had. The accompanying chips are quite tasty too. A rare find this cafe with great food, and appropriately attentive service. Throw in that it's a local, family-owned and run business, and you're in for a real treat. read more

The last time I dined at Carnation Cafe was years ago ... pre-Covid. Today we enjoyed breakfast at the Carnation Cafe ---- a most pleasant surprise. I was expecting sort of Denny's fast food breakfast fare. I was MISTAKEN big time. When entering the restaurant (on a Saturday morning) I see a smoker at the end of the restaurant, clearly working on something delicious (from the wonderful aroma). Inside the front door, you first approach a display case with an incredible selection of dessert items (I later find out that they make their own desserts)!! Next I see a menu that is way beyond what I expected. My partner orders eggs benedict .... again surprise that they make their own hollandaise sauce!!! As for the smoker at the end of the restaurant, they serve BBQ from noon to 3 pm every Saturday and Sunday ... although they sometimes end earlier as they consistently sell out. This is definitely on my to-do list. I could go on and on ... but you get the drift. I am sad to say I have lived here a couple of years and not taken advantage of this restaurant. I'm going to change my eating habits to eat here more often! I recommend this restaurant without reservation (yes, pun intended)!!! Thanks for reading. Found this place after a hike. The staff was super friendly. We got burgers and a strawberry rhubarb pie. Let me tell you that the burger was probably one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The portion size was generous and the food was very tasty. If you're in Carnation you have to try this place. I'll be back to try more items on their menu and some more of their tasty desserts! read more

Everything I've tried has been super fresh and delicious. Breakfast potatoes are incredible, chicken fried steak was perfectly seasoned/breaded, turkey sandwich was incredible& well stacked, and please try their potato chips (they're magical). The food was absolutely delicious and the customer service was incredible. We had 3 families- 6 adults and 6 kids in our group. The Cafe accommodated our large group outside, and provided crayons, color sheets, and even chalk for our kids to play outside! The food was good as well- I had the corn beef hash with poached eggs and hit the spot with a little bit of ketchup. I saw the Swedish Pancakes, and got a little bit of food envy because it looked amazing. The dish was piled with fresh fruit, and the Swedish Pancakes was topped with whipped cream. But let's just talk about the Turkey Cranberry sandwich (insert drooling sound here) WOWZA GOOD! This is my favorite restaurant to go to. It is a 45 minute drive for my hubby and me so go every other week. The staff, the owners, the cooks, everyone is so gracious and friendly. Great atmosphere, lovely waitstaff, but...the BBQ Ribs were very undercooked, pink inside (pork). These were NOT fall off the bone ribs like you might expect. The sauce was delicious, just worried about getting a stomach ache after eating undercooked pork. Coleslaw, very bland, no flavor at all. I can make much better at home. Put some spices in there or something. It was like cabbage in thick milky/Mayo, that's it. I'll still go back because everyone was so cool there, and I like the place.
