Hello fellow meat eaters! Y'all know I don't hand out 5 star compliments and am pretty critical when it comes to reviewing restaurants. We visited Carnival last evening and it was as good as it gets from check in, seating, service to food and desert!!!!! They were on point! The staff were sincere, polite and attentive to our experience and made sure we enjoyed the full experience and food. The new owners did a great job with the new layout and decor, I loved the lighted trees it really set the mood with indirect palm lighting around the ceiling. Now to the good stuff... the salad bar and sides were presented nicely, fresh and just the right variety of dishes. Let's face it though, I was there for the meat and wasn't disappointed in the least! The Gaucho's were on a mission man, like they had green token radar! We didn't wait long for a variety of skewered juicy flavors of meat to make it around. The trick here is to not be afraid to kindly request the kind of cut and quantity you would like. Meat eater tip: start slow, take a little, enjoy and go green again so it's always hot, fresh and delicious! We always try to express appreciation for the staff, that includes everyone who plays a role in our experience, especially when we were made to feel so welcome, appreciated as people and customers!!! Shout out to the staff, Thank you! We did meet the new owner, what a nice and personable fellow! He talked with us for several minutes not only to make sure we were taken care of but he also shared his background, family and new restaurants open in the Midwest. I know, I know, I'm on a different level here but I can't say enough nice comments about Carnival and our experience last night. And, it was Friday the 13th after all! Ha! read more

Nine adults in our party, celebrating birthdays: Wednesday evening 6:00 reservation. Seating was immediate. Service was attentive throughout our two hour stay at the restaurant. The salad bar had an extraordinary variety of items. Everything I sampled was delicious. The salad bar included a separate section with interesting gluten free choices. The tomato soup was delicious. The ambience of this restaurant is unique and attractive, parking is ample. If there is a negative to this place it would be the price of the food and the limited choice of what you will spend. You can choose the "salad bar only" option for $29, or the full meal option for $49 ( which includes the salad bar and unlimited meat offerings). Overall our dinner this evening was an excellent experience and I'm looking forward to the next time I can return. read more

I don't know why there are so many low ratings!!! This was my first time and it was delicious! Overwhelming with all the food no lie but everything was delicious and the service was great. She was very busy with a lot of tables! Made a reservation and got seated immediately in a great booth. The decor is so cute with the stars on the ceiling and cute trees. First time there and I'll tell you, I'm already salivating thinking about going back. I'm 65 and certainly no stranger to fine restaurants but this place rates the best I've ever had. I got the salad bar and walked out after nearly an hour later with my top button on my pants undone. Sat by the kitchen and watched an endless parade of fine meats and breads and desserts. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable about your every need or desire. Don't miss out folks. I know I won't ever again. read more

You could not tell me there is a better place than this. The food was fresh, well seasoned, prepared to protection with ever cut of meat we tried. The salad bar is a high end charcuterie board with extra flair that you can't find anywhere else. The restaurant atmosphere was just as tasteful as the food. This was great before the new owners took over in late 2025. Disorganized, understaffed, food quality has plummeted. We came in a month before our anniversary, and immediately (after 20 years of doing our anniversary there) made new anniversary plans. The reviews prior to August of 2025 are for the old owner and staff. Look around at several sites for current reviews. We will not be back anytime soon. read more

We used to LOVE Carnival and would always bring people who visited Sioux Falls to their restaraunt. However, the new ownership ruined this place. They barely serve steak and instead push bread and chicken. The little steak we had was overcooked and cold. They charge the same price as the old owners with cheap, poorly cooked food. read more

We've been customers at Carnaval for years and it was always a reliable special occasion restaurant, so my son requested it for his 16th birthday. The experience this time was so disappointing. We had a group of six, ordered 4 salad bars and 2 rodizio services + drinks. I guess there is no longer a menu to order from - it's either salad bar or rodizio, but even then, the waitress seemed inexplicably confused by our order. The salad bar was fine - thus the two stars - but the meat service was slow and disappointing. My poor son waited the whole meal for a second serving of pineapple that never came, despite asking the waitress twice if she could assist. We ordered some mediocre desserts and then the check came, and this is where it gets weird. The check she delivered was the food we ordered, plus seven additional rodizio services at $50 each. We flagged the waitress down and pointed out the error and her response was, "And? Is there a problem here?" Uhhhhh. What? We eventually got the bill refunded and recharged but the whole experience left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. Literally. Our service was poor and there was no way to reflect that in the tip because of the auto-gratuity. No manager stopped by to check in despite the fact that I'm sure one had to assist with the $350 overcharge. It ended up being a very expensive meal for not much food and frustrating service. Never have been here un til last night. We made a reservation. Showed up and were seated. Given the tray of fried bananas and bisquets and explained how it worked. Got meat every once in a while. Pinnapple once. No one came to give us water and had NO Server. Food was okay. Evidently they have deserts. Weren't asked and halfway through our meal someone collected the drink menu. Had dinner here with my youngest son. Salad bar has good variety and was fresh. The Brazilian Bread is yummy and best of all it's Gluten Free, a plus for Celiacs. Good variety of grilled meats, and timing is excellent. The chicken was a bit dry but otherwise everything was good. Grilled pineapple is a nice addition. Tai was our server and she was great! Tonight was the rare boys night out, so myself and 3 buddies went to Carnaval. We made 6 pm reservations which apparently was smart because without them the wait was about 1.5 hours. So make a reservation. When we were seated, our waitress was very prompt. She recommended a delicious drink. Served in a pineapple. We all got the table side service deal for $41.99. Comes with a salad bar. I started off going to the salad bar first. Complete with all the salad fixings, fresh mozzarella, marinated mushrooms, pickled onions, tons of toppings to choose from. Besides toppings they had 2 soups, Mac N Cheese and other goodies. Quite the amazing salad bar. Then came the unending service of meat skewers. From chicken and steak to shrimp and roasted cinnamon pineapple. Even after I was beyond stuffed, I kept getting the pineapple. It was so delish. I had previously eaten at a Brazilian steakhouse in Vegas and that wasn't close to this place. Every meat skewer was like a bite of heaven. Not one thing I ate was anything but delicious. I ordered a slice of pineapple carrot cake and paid the bill. For all the food you get, salad bar and quality of food, the price of $41.99 is almost a steal. I would have paid $55 and not complained. Decor of the restaurant was also very nice. Overall, this place is one of the best restaurants in Sioux Falls. A must try, just make sure to make a reservation! read more

I went on a Saturday night. My husband and I made a reservation. When we arrived it was chaos. We waited 15 minutes for a table and we were brought to a small table in front of the kitchen. I asked for a different table and they gave us one by the salad bar. I asked why we couldn't have the larger table that was set in a quieter area and they shrugged it off. The waitress asked us if we had been there before and we said we had. She showed us the salad bar and I never saw her again until we were ready for an our bill. When staff brought us the various meats it was like they were running a marathon. I asked one of the servers for a glass of wine. A busboy almost took my plate from me and I told him that I wasn't finished. He said that the plate was on the side of the table so he that I was finished. The table that they gave us was so small that I had a difficult time eating. I never received my glass of wine and I tried to get our check. A staff member brought me my wine. I told them that I didn't want it because I had finished my meal and wanted my check. They brought it again and I didn't want it because I finished my meal. I waited for my check again and again they brought my wine and I told them that I didnt want it. I then complained about the service and was brought the check. They charged me for the wine. I told the waitress to credit it. She was not able to credit it and gave me $20 of her tip money and said that she would probably not get it back but handed it to me anyway. We gave her a tip but it was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The owner wanted me to pay for the wine that I refused 3 times. Also the food was not that great. The meat was dry and fatty. I went there 2 years ago and it was great but I am never going there again. I just hope that the waitress got her $20 back. The owners are disgusting. read more

The food was everything I could ever wish for in tasty meats. Everyone was so nice and accommodating to our needs. The inside of the place was lovely and tasteful . This my go-to restaurant when traveling with customers in Sioux Falls. Service is always been 5-star, and if you have vegetarians in your group, Carnival has the best salad bar in town that I'm aware of. Every member of the staff Ive encountered has been friendly and patient. After experiencing several mediocre meals at the steak house "around the corner" Carnival is my new favorite restaurant. read more

The truth is it's expensive, yes, but it's worth it to do the festival of meats for a special occasion. Definitely make a reservation on a weekend, it's just easier. The website/app makes it easy to make your appointment without having to call and actually talk to a person. We go maybe 1-2 a year. The staff is always great. The only small constructive criticism I would give is that there have been multiple times with certain cuts of meats that are pretty undercooked. That might just be our personal preference, but I really can't stand it when my plate gets bloody. I bet you could tell the server that you liked it cooked longer and I bet they would bring it to you like that. I highly recommend trying this place. You will love it! I've never ordered anything else off the menu, we always do the festival of meats. For non meat lovers, the salad bar is excellent. It's a bit dark in there but it's ok because they have lights along the ceiling that change color and it really makes the ambience really nice and lights the room nicely. I love the colors of the plants along side the big wall murals they have painted throughout the restaurant. You could go there with a large group and they have plenty of seating with long tables available or you could bring a date and ask for a corner booth for some romance. Go on your birthday and you will receive a free brownie sundae. They will sing to you if you want but we always say please don't. ;) A great gift idea would be a gift card here! The meats were seasoned well and the sides were buffet style so you could eat as much as you want. It was an enjoyable experience, our waitress was fantastic but some of the guys walking around with skewers of meat seemed like they didn't want to be there. The dessert cart had plenty of choices but because we were in Sioux Falls for a business conference we really couldn't take the dessert to go, which is a shame. Plan on returning next year when we return to Sioux Falls SD for our annual conference. read more

One thing that really stood out to me right when I entered the restaurant was their impeccable customer service. Not to mention the food was an amazing 10/10! Krystal my server made sure to ask if everything was going well often which I really appreciated, when I said I preferred to have my meat well done she immediately took action into seeing it get done! Entire staff are very welcoming. Enjoyed the delicious food. All the variety of meats brought to our table was mouthwatering & juicy tender cuts. The salad bar was delish (only the ribs need more sauce, may need to cook a little longer for tenderness) .. we had sweet pineapple ice tea served in a pineapple and it was so good! The desserts were beyond amazing! Our fave was the tres leches cake, crème brûlée & the cheesecakes! Appreciate the manager Eduardo came up to our table to check on us, very sincere to make sure we were taken cared of. Emily was the best waitress ever, she had the entire crew come and sing happy bday to us & there was a bday card on our table when we arrived. I can't say enough good things about our dining experiences at the bar with Katie. We came in just the two of us (husband and I) and had such a memorable time that we now choose the bar every time! Even brought in another couple and our whole group chose to sit at the bar.... We can forgo the ease of conversation with each other to have Katie taking care of us. Our party is from CA and GA in areas where we have access to Michelin star restaurants. The food quality here, especially the meats, exceeded our expectations. We have been to a food experience like this before but if you haven't it is a cool thing to do. Flip the card over green to keep the meat coming and flip it read for a break. They serve it table side. The salad bar is also good and has a nice variety of items. Service was on point and they were able to accommodate us at 4pm with no reservations, although I would imagine you would be better off with reservations. A nice little surprise in Sioux Falls! One last thing- let's talk about the price. Super reasonable for the cuts of meat that you get AND if you are 60 or over it is only $30!! It is hard to find a moderately decent meal for that price anymore. read more

Hooooo buddy. If you ever feel like you need a serious meat infusion, splurge a bit and visit Carnaval. It's not cheap, but you DEFINITELY get what you pay for. All 4 of us got the Rodizio service, which means the gouchos will continue to bring you various meats as long as you want it. You also get unlimited trips to the salad/hot bar which has a few very tasty sides like mashed potatoes, rice pilaf etc. but we all know it's about the meat. The meats include Parmesan beef, top sirloin, bacon wrapped loin tips and so forth. I would actually highly recommend the extra 5 bucks for the Rodizio 1. The spicy shrimp, lamb, and flank steak were arguably my 3 favorite meats. Incredibly tender and absolutely scrumptiously seasoned. So yes, please believe that the quality of the food matched the quantity. The grilled pineapple was a tasty little sweet treat to balance out the endless animal flesh. In addition to the amazing food, it should be noted that the service and ambiance were top notch as well. Within 5 minutes of placing our orders, my plate was piled with meat. I was left staring at my salad plate, wondering why I was wasting time with these worthless vegetables. Our server was very helpful and attentive; she even asked toward the end if there was a particular meat we'd like sent back around. Oh and unbeknownst to us, after I had mentioned it was my wife's parents' anniversary, they sent a dessert chef around to flambé some fruit in liquor to put atop some vanilla ice cream for a FREE anniversary dessert for them.
