This place is pretty cool. Had the brisket dinner and it was awesome. Very good drink menu with a lot of selections. The place was really busy for a Wednesday night and they could've probably had another waitress on staff but these are the times we live in now. I will say that our waitress kicked ass! I don't think she ever stopped moving the whole time we were there. The service wasn't slow, but I felt bad for her and that's why I say they could've had one more. 10/10 would recommend!!! Came to Big J's last night for dinner with my family and was excited got some BBQ. Ordered the Diablo Sandwich and was not disappointed, the pork was well seasoned, the bread was soft, and the bacon was crispy. I enjoyed to remoulade sauce as well. Baked beans were fantastic. I want to go every where I can to let everyone know how amazing Big J's Roadhouse in Harrisburg is. My niece recently got married. The caterer never showed up. Neeedless to say, there were some stressful moments trying to figure out what to do as there were just over 100 people waiting to be fed. One call from a friend of the wedding party. ONE CALL. The owner says "What do you need? How many people?" and then says "We'll be there in 45 minutes." That is just freaking amazing! I could not believe how amazing the two ladies were to bring 2 different BBQ meats and buns, baked beans, coleslaw, and some of THE BEST cornbread muffins I have ever had. There were so many happy bellies at the reception hall. Literally saving the day! As for the BBQ, I am a HUGE pulled pork fan and theirs was ridiculously delicious. The coleslaw was perfect. And again, I cannot say enough good things about those cornbread muffins. If there was a Big J's Roadhouse in Nashville, I'd buy those muffins by the dozen and the pulled pork by the pound. They would definitely give some of our Southern BBQ places a run for their money! So not only is the food really good BBQ, but their customer service goes so above and beyond. A restaurant is only as good as their people. And let me tell you, they have THE BEST people. I cannot wait to come visit your establishment on my next visit and get to try more of the menu. The steak was done perfectly & one of the best I've ever had. The ribs are not fall off the bone ribs, but dry. The tv had heavy metal playing so loud we had to basically yell at each other to hear & couldn't hear the touch tunes we tried playing. read more

There was only one other table taken when we arrived. There are several tables but only 2 booths. We chose to sit next to the occupied booth. Unfortunately this was a big mistake. The other patrons were using profanity every other word throughout their and our meal. Moving onto the restaurant itself, let's just call it rustic. The waitress brought us menus and tableware. When she returned we asked about the beers on tap. There is no beverage menu, our waitress named all the beers on tap. Mind you they have 16 beers on tap! I've tried this place multiple times only to be disappointed. Tonight we ordered wings and apps to go so we could watch the football game in the comfort of our home. The quality of the wings were not good. As seen in the photos we had a wing that still had feathers attached to it and another one that was extremely pink and discolored inside. On top of that the apps were extremely soggy and soaked in grease. Would love to support a local restaurant like this but I just can't with food like this. read more

I've had multiple great experiences at this restaurant but today it was close to horrible. It took over 20 minutes to be waited on from the time we walked in the door. Also whilst waiting my family and I were being attacked by flys. I order the rib combo,with smoked wings, beans, and waffle fries. The ribs were slightly undercooked and extremely fatty with very little meat. The wings are usually the best thing on the menu but we're also very dry. The sides of baked beans and waffle fries were very good. There seemed to only be one waitress that was scrambling around. read more

First off this is probably the best place to get wings which are amazing. There is no doubting these wings are probably the best I've had and will ever have. The 4 stars is due to pricing. While I love Big J's it's hard to justify spending $40+ dollars when there are three people to feed. If prices were just a little lower I would probably eat there weekly...it's that good. Everyone is always friendly and the food is quick when you order to go. I'll happily take my family and friends here to eat anytime and I and proud that such a great establishment has opened in Harrisburg. We've had the mini tacos, and cheese balls which are amazing as well. I haven't had any other food outside of what's listed but I have a feeling that anything I would have would be great. I've had others also rave about the food, but pricing is also a factor for them. Them topped with jalapeno infused thick cut bacon and covered n Real pepper jack cheese !! Great little place to eat in the Harrisburg area. Sometimes it's a bit packed but the staff does a great job of keeping your drinks full! Personally I love spicy foods...the Fireman and Diablo aren't too shabby. The inside is clean and plenty of tvs for folks to watch sports during their perspective season. read more

We came in on a Friday night after reading good reviews! My bf ordered the 2 meat platter ( smoked chicken wings and brisket) which came with a corn muffin,toast,waffle fries, AND mashed potatoes. He said it was all fantastic. I ordered the brisket sandwich with fries. The sandwich was ENORMOUS and the brisket was tender and juicy. The restaurant and bathrooms were spotless, service was attentive and friendly. 3 tall beers and 2 huge meals (with a box of leftovers) was $40. We will absolutely be back! read more
