If I could rate this place 10 stars out of 5 I would. Lunch rush on a Sunday in August, arguably the busiest time of the year. We were sat, had chips and salsa, our appetizer, and our entrees, ate (too much, it was delicious), and paid for our meal all within 20 minutes. Twenty minutes during a rush. No mistakes with our food, service was phenomenal. I literally couldn't be more impressed. I was too busy stuffing my face to take pictures of our food before we ate but everything was presented so well and we had the awesome experience of the flaming cheese appetizer (we are tourists, you gotta get the fun stuff yk). My wife decided to order the Combo #2 (pork tamale, ground beef enchilada & ground beef hard shell taco - see picture) while I went with the street tacos - Carnitas (pulled pork), Pollo (chicken) & Al Pastor (spit-roasted pork). We both enjoyed the Combo, with my favorite part being the pork tamale. I'm a big fan of corn tortilla street tacos and found them all to be very good - but my favorite was the Al Pastor. A quick Google search indicated that Al Pastor is a spit-roasted pork influenced by Lebanese shawarma - marinated and then cooked on a vertical rotisserie. This place is always a hit for my family but a little off on the taste this time for us. I was served a water but a bunch of black chunks floating in it. I was actually concerned. I looked around like, "Did they already know I was coming? Is this premeditated? Am I being monitored?" Because there is simply no reasonable explanation for that level of efficiency. The fajitas were still sizzling like they had just come off a volcano, so I know it wasn't just sitting back there waiting for me like a reserved parking spot. The food? Incredible. The kind of meal where you tell yourself you'll stop eating after one more bite... and then 14 bites later you're still negotiating with yourself. I've eaten here before, and I thought it was great. So I wanted to try them again. I called in an order for a taco salad to go. It was ready when I got there in 10 minutes, but when I got home and saw what I got I was so disappointed. The ground beef was mushy if you want to call it that. Very little lettuce in it with mostly ground beef. It came with ranch dressing. Barely any shredded cheese on it and the shell was not fresh. I asked for a side of sour cream,which was $2.49 and I couldn't believe it, but there was mold in the bottom of it and they gave me a side of tortilla chips and salsa. Ive heard of this place and I had to try it. The service was great. The food was really good and was served hot. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The bar looked cool with plenty of bottles on the shelf. I tried their mango chilerita and it was very tasty, that I ordered a second one. The glass size was a decent size. I was happy with the amount of refreshment I received. Definitely give this drink a try. I love trying new meals I havnt seen before and along came the jarocho on the menu!! Shrimp. Yes! Scallops. Yes! Chicken. Sure. A pineapple?? Ok im game. All this goodness in a creamy ,maybe some cheese in this sauce?, sauce cooked with onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, pineapple, and tomatoes. This was a very tasty dish! And for the pineapple, don't worry, i didnt really taste it in the dish except when I bit into it. So dont think the meal will be sweet. Im glad i tried this dish, it was really good as I said. The menu is pretty large with lots of choices on it. First time for us here today. The ambience is wonderful. Building is beautiful and inviting. Service was very good. Ivan was our waiter. The food however lacks flavor/seasoning. I had the Combo#1 with a beef burrito, Chicken burrito, and a crispy beef toco. It came with a side of refried beans snd Spanish rice. All of the plate looked appetizing and delicious but it was like a canvas pairing in that looks were good but there was no flavor to be had. Meat was browned but it hardly had any seasonings or flavors. Chicken was shredded and cooked correctly WITHOUT seasonings. My wife had the Chile Relleno plate which was satisfactory for my wife but she kept complaining of it missing the flavors. We've lived in South Texas and have experienced some wonderful flavorings and they were missing in our food today. We ordered the 4 piece churros and ice cream dessert which comes in a cute little wagon. Churros lacked the crispiness and light flavor of a churro. They were too thick. Had appearance of a filling in middle but actually was pressed too thick. It was hard to eat them out of the little wagon they came in. The flan was very tasty and was very good. Not the best I e had but it held its own. The fried ice cream dish was very good. It will be hard to return to this place since all or most of the foods lacked a good seasoning and flavors that come with Mexican food. The jalapeño margarita WAS very good but the chips and salsa lacked quite a bit since they were just bland corn triangles. Went on a Sunday after church. Place was quite busy, but we were seated immediately. It was a bit noisy, but with it that busy it would be expected. Decor was typical Hispanic owned restaurant, nice. They brought waters and chips and salsa quickly. The chips were crisp and the red salsa that you typically get at a Mexican place was good, but I did add habanero sauce because I like a little more heat. They also have a creamy white sauce that is quite good. There used to be a La Fiesta in Soo Foo at 41st and Western that had a similar sauce, but this one was a little sweeter and not quite as good as I remember the old sauce being. Don't get me wrong, this stuff is good, the old stuff was the BOMB. My wife ordered Shrimp Street Tacos for $12.99 and I got the Burrito Vallarta for 15.99. She enjoyed the tacos, shrimp was a bit overcooked, and I had most of the side of Spanish Rice and Part of the Re-fried Beans that came with her meal. I enjoyed the rice, but neither of us really cared for the beans. We left those because there was plenty of other food to eat. My Burrito Vallarta, a Burrito with Chicken, Steak, Chorizo and onion inside with Pineapple, Shrimp and Cheese Sauce on top. They must have been out of Chorizo, because I couldn't find any. Cheese sauce was OK, shrimp overcooked - all in all I would order something else if I ever return. Portion sizes were large, prices reasonable and had good service. I was going to give a 2 because of the shrimp and lack of Chorizo, but opted for a 3 because of the creamy salsa. Probably won't return unless we go with others. This place has become my go-to place for Mexican in town. It's consistently great food every time we have been there. I've tried multiple things on the menu and am never disappointed. We have been to La Plaza Fiesta twice now and both times were terrific! Servers are bright and pleasant, both recommended some terrific drinks! My favorite was a spicy jalapeño margarita! I have a harder time finding something on a menu due to some allergies, but this menu is expensive and accommodating! The staff was quick to adjust after I had forgotten to note one allergy after placing my order--it came out both timely and exactly as requested! Kids menu is fun and has plenty of options for picky eaters as well as those looking to enjoy something more unique! Food was phenomenal for us adults as well! On our latest experience we both loved our orders. I had the chicken street tacos and the husband enjoyed one of the combos! Both entrees we're large portions which packed up nicely for take home. The atmosphere is modern, yet true to Mexican culture. If you are sensitive to noise or hard of hearing, it can be a bit loud,. That being said, it wasn't something that impacted our experience in a make or break way--it speaks to the food and service they are doing well! After living in Phoenix for 11 years, you discover that one of the true joys in life is a good street taco. There are plenty of options down there, and Plaza Fiesta reminds me of one of the three archetypal Mexican restaurants. The interior is nice, fairly new and they have some nice decor. Nothing too over the top. You walk in, get seated, and they bring out a basket of chips and salsa relatively quickly. The salsa had a decent amount of garlic in it, and it was more on the watery side than chunky, but I personally enjoy that more. I ordered carne asada street tacos, while my company ordered the chicken chimichanga. My tacos were solid; white onions and cilantro over some slightly under-seasoned steak. I do appreciate getting the lime wedge, since that always adds a nice bit of acidity to the dish. The chimi was apparently solid as well. I doubt Sioux Falls will ever be able to compete with the southwest in terms of this culinary line, but this is the closest thing I've experienced so far to what I'm used to. A few things that I'm not sure if they would do, but would add to the experience; -salsa bar, even though that's more of a taqueria thing -some indication that they make homemade tortillas. Pretty good food, but terrible service, in my opinion. When you have to ask repeatedly for napkins and silverware, you think they might be a little overextended. When the bill came I was surprised that they had listed a soft drink at 2.99 that none of us had ordered, pointed it out but it wasn't taken off the bill so the waitstaff can consider that their tip. I went there specifically for a dish that I used to enjoy where we lived in Colorado, but I'm sorry to say, it didn't live up to the hype or the trip.
