This place is amazing! Was told to get the carnitas and haven't found a better place yet! It's behind a gas station so if you're not paying attention, you could drive passed it. But it's worth the drive! I haven't had anything that I didn't like but my favorite is the carnitas nachos. My husband's favorite is the Chile verde. Good little, and I mean really little, hole in the wall. Room for about 4 people to eat inside. The carnitas were good, needed a little salt but the torta was delicious as was the burrito. Beans are really good but rice was dry. They have Mexican soda (coke, jarrito, and fanta), the Tri-tip was tender and good. Will go back but definitely for pick up. read more

I tried these carnitas about two years ago when I showed up to a friends house during lunch. I was very impressed! They were tender and juicy! I finally made my way to this place last Sunday for a quick takeout order. The carnitas were delicious just as I remember. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star review is because the Spanish rice they offer is not really great, none of us at home ate it. The refried beans were just ok. My recommendation is to make your own refried beans and rice then go grab a quick takeout order of just the carnitas. Now I know why my friend only buys the carnitas! The salsa is just ok also, but then again I like my salsa extremely hot! Salsa isn't too bad I guess, just wish it was hotter. So next time I'm craving these, I'll stay home making the beans and salsa while my husband runs to pick up the carnitas! They are worth the drive out there! read more

This is my sons favorite place to order food. We call it "the hole in the wall" because it is super tiny inside, only seating for two sets of two. My dad said they make the best carnitas he's ever had in his life and I love their BBQ ribs, they only make them on Saturdays and sometimes Wednesdays. It is family run and they make their food to order. If the dad is there he always gives us free samples of their daily special. They have a limited menu but it is awesome. My son orders their carne asada burritos and my husband being a taco truck and Mexican food connoisseur says they are delicious. This place is located in back of the one stop gas station (I think it's called) next to the small engine repair place at the end of Mchenry going north past the fruit stands and car lots on the left. Call before u go as their hours vary. Their BBQ ribs beat any in town. read more

Bad not sure if the women at the register there is the owner, or what but she had a very nasty attitude, because I mentioned uh they don't have any gloves on here, I mean come one now that's so ignorant knowing what's going on with COVID-19. People please save ALL your money and go where all staff members wears masks, Social distance enforced. Limit the capacity, EVERYONE wears gloves while handling the FOOD!!! No carnitas on Saturday about 12:30...already sold out! The owner suggested coming in as soon as they open because they run out fast. I tried the tri tip sandwich instead. It was good ..served on a freshly toasted roll with grilled onions and pickled jalapenos but was 7.00. The carnitas are a better value in my opinion. read more

I just went to this place on Sunday 4/8/18 and it was the BEST!!! Everything is freshly made and this is the ONLY place I ever heard of a RIB TACO!!! Not only that, it was sooo good!! I highly recommend this place!! Everything is mostly cooked in a firewood outside in a big BBQ pit, which gives it an amazing taste!!! They do have a sitting area outside on the side of their building its covered, I'm pointing this out because it seemed a lot of people aren't aware of this! Another great thing they have is $1 TACO TUESDAY!!! You will enjoy this place if you like carnitas that's for sure!! It does get packed but it's well worth the wait!! Enjoy :) read more

Needed to order carnitas for the Canelo/GGG fight. My husband's co worker recommended this place. I must say they were good carnitas. I ordered the #2 to feed 50 people and it came with rice, beans, salsa, cilantro, onions, jalapenos and tortillas. Paid about $175 I feel that it was worth it, everyone enjoyed the food. I have been here on 3 different occasions to get carnitas and they have had none. My visit to this place was word of mouth but have been very disappointed at all of my visits. Poor customer service. Seems like these people don't care about their business. read more
