Staff very rude , asked for habanero sauce and said not part of taco order and was $2 extra then asked for a foam container and this guy said nope , that this place does not give containers on orders to go , he also mentioned that this place works different from other business and these are rules , never going back here , told him to keep order and we just left , not to mention the taco guy was probably new and not able to even fold and wrap a taco I foil horrible customer service , very dissatisfied and disappointed. read more

Finally got to try this place out after all the rave from family members. OMG!! This place is Awesome! Great value for your money! The tacos are Freakin Huge!! The rice & beans are pretty darn good too. Bummed the horchata was not good. Way too chalky. BUT I am still gonna give this place 5 Stars!! Can't rate the food this is solely on walking in the place. Walked in with my mom, sister, and my 1.5 year old daughter. When we walked in I had to check my daughter to see if she had a bowel movement in her diaper. It wasn't her. Kidding aside, the placed smelt like dirty mop. We tried to sircomne to the smell but the 3 of us couldn't do it. We had to leave. Please, please do something about the smell. It wasn't the food. But I couldn't eat there with the smell because i would've tasted it in the food. This part is not about the restaurant however I do feel as if they have a say in what Happens in their parking lot. Let me mind you I have not been in this parking lot in about 10 years (prior business never brought me back here) There is a countless number of transients and twekers in this lot. As a man my safety was fine but I did feel like it wasn't a safe place. There is a security guard floating around needs to do a better job. I went in my first time the carnitas are good flavor but! You have the option of just the meat or mixing it with the fat and I asked for just the meat and I get home my tortillas are falling apart and there's a lot of fat and my husband took a bite and there was BONES inside, that's unusual! Very disappointed I wish I can go back but it's not worth it especially if I'm going to loose a tooth if I bite into it. Tasty all the way around... Home made agua frescas, coffee (both new menu items) and soft drinks. Plus, 2 nice size salsa bars have been added. Ample space too! Best carnitas I have had. The rice and beans are freshly made. They do add skin etc but if you don't like that you can say meat only.

This is my favorite place for authentic Mexican pork carnitas. It's delicious and makes me so happy there is a location so close to home now. We come here at least once a week now. You can even get a combo plate and that's more than enough for 2 people just for $8. I recommend this place to anyone, specially if you haven't tried this type of food. read more

I've heard a lot of good things about this place so I finally decided to come and see what everyone's been bragging about. Came in Sunday afternoon around 12, there was quite a few people, but it's a pretty big place so there were a lot of tables available since I hear the lines are sometimes out the door. Ordered the two taco combo that came with rice and beans, there was a self serve salsa bar with your usual salsa verde and salsa rojo, pico de Gallo, and lime. I got the salsa rojo and it definitely did not disappoint considering I love spicy. The portions were pretty huge, and the tacos were even bigger than I expected. Comes with flour tortillas PACKED with delicious carnitas, a bit dry but when you add the sauce it makes up for it. The horchata was excellent as well! Definitely will be back! read more

We would go all the way to Simi Valley for our carnitas since a family friend would make them every Saturday. Now it's just a 5 minute drive! The carnitas are so juicy and pair well with their homemade tortillas. I'm not kidding, one of their tortillas is equivalent to 2 or 3 tacos from a taco truck. We come here everytime family from up north comes down since 2-3 lbs is enough to feed all of us. read more

Was excited to hear that Carnitas el Rey #2 was opening near south side of oxnard. The location is sketchy but the inside of the restaurant is clean and cutely decorated in traditional Mexican decor. It is very spacious with plenty of tables. It's the same as the first location where you stand in line and they serve you as you order. They have about 4 people serving orders but it still takes a long time to get ahead of the line. However the servers are working fast to get you your meal. They have meal combo options with meat, rice, beans, salsa and tortillas. It is a better value than a la cart. They still don't have other food options which I think is good. They need to stick to what they are known for Carnitas. The Carnitas were very juicy and so good. For some reason they were tastier than their first location, I haven't been to that one in a while. Carnitas still super moist and more flavorful. Tortillas were thin and good. Glad I came. read more

What a great place. I had the 1/2 lb combo and it was more than enough for me. The carnitas were very flavorful. They have both red and green salsas which were homemade and complimented the pork. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were very efficient. I had a Tatmarindo Agua Fresca which was the right amount of sweetness.
