Came here for a quick lunch with my boyfriend because we wanted something tasty, affordable & enjoy the outside seating. First off the worker there named Nicholas is the reason I will come back fore sure. When we called in our order over the phone he was so energetic & just good vibes over phone. We drove down there & picked up our food & the cheeseburger is so underrated very delicious & my boyfriend got the veggie burrito. The worker was just so awesome I wish there was more people like him working at other places because this would be a happy town. It made our meal very enjoyable & such great ambiance too. First off, let me say that my family has been enjoying both of the locations on E Thompson Blvd. for over 30 years and we are avid fans of their Chicken burritos as they stew the meat versus grilling it, although you can get it grilled to if you prefer. Also, they have always had the best chicken taquitos with guacamole in the county. When I worked at the Charthouse as a GM in the late 90's early 2000's my crew and I would get burritos there every week during the day as we prepped for dinner. My son's that both graduated from Ventura High school in 99 and 01 would ditch school to go get this burrito at lunch time. Both have moved out of the area, but we still send them photos to tease them of the Corrales Chicken Burrito 4 way. If you see a bad review, it's because they don't know how to order it. Chicken, rice, beans, cheese, red hot sauce in the burrito not on the side and I add avocado. My son that lives in Manhattan NY now, insists on visiting Corrales whenever he is on the West Coast and his brother in Santa Monica does the same. There is a new location that is affiliated with the downtown location on Seaward and Main that I haven't tried yet, but I'm sure it's just as good as I know the owners and they are meticulous about their ingredients and service expectations of their employees. Today we stopped by the downtown location and tried the beef taquitos. For some reason they never offered the taquitos with beef in the past only chicken, which I love, but my wife prefers beef taquitos. Oh, my G*d these are hands down the best beef taquitos I have ever had, order them with the guac and a side of red and green salsa and you won't be disappointed. I am guessing that the addition is the work of Alicia and Juan, good job guys these are phenomenal, the beef is so tender. My biggest complaint about Taquitos is when the fried corn tortilla has a higher ratio then the meat in the bite, not these. Both the Beef and Chicken versions are better than any sit down restaurant in the county. Go check it out you won't be disappointed. read more

I got two burritos and two sodas and it $48.00 that's crazy first of all. The food , all of it, was bland with no real flavor even the guacamole and chips. Super greasy too. I hadn't been here in years but its a bit iconic in ventura so I brought someone here to eat. Needless to say I won't be going back. So disappointed. read more

Customer service was one of the worst experiences I've encountered through all my work travels. The cashier was rude to the people in front of me and when it was my turn I got the same attitude. Is Corrales under new ownership? I ordered the same thing I always have. But this time we ordered online from work. Chicken burrito beans rice and cheese (chicken 4 way). My fist clue should have been the menu. I didn't recognize it but thought it was just how they have it set up online. Well... this is NOT Corrales. Its a basic burrito. Corrales is that small town local joint with all of the feel good vibes. Reminds me of my childhood and where I grew up, that this is easily a crave-able place. Located in Ventura off one of the main drags, it's easy to find and also nice that they have their own small parking lot. Plenty of street parking too but the lot is a nice bonus to be able to safely get in and out of your car. The signage is seeable from a bit away and the cute outside adobe styled architecture draws you in. The staff here are very nice and friendly. They are quick to help you so make sure you know what you want when you go up to the counter. They also hustle out food orders and it's nice to hear the people working in the back talking and sometimes when your lucky, singing. This spot has just got a good vibe. Very casual and locals primarily. The menu is surprisingly large but also easy to follow. They have all of the classics and the menu has something for everyone. Prices are super reasonable for how big the portions are, it's a great value here. Only one $ but a 5/5 for taste and quality. Food: the chicken taquitos are a slam dunk. White meat chicken and loaded up with guacamole and cheese. These are some of the best and simplest feel good foods I've ever had. Dipped in their classic salsa this is a meal I won't soon forget. Also tried a classic bean and cheese burrito and it was all of my childhood happy memories flooding back to me. We all know it doesn't take much to craft and B&C burrito but when it's made with love it slaps just right, and they are super tasty and classic here. Bomb! Don't overlook the simple things in life. Washed everything down with an Orange Bang (if you know you know). But if you don't I wish you did and since we don't gate keep around here make sure you order one to drink and trust me, your life will be changed. This spot is an easy 5/5. The vibes are neighborly and friendly. Solid food and cheap eats. I stopped going to Corrales to eat and searched out other places to get my burrito fix. Like other reviews, I did not receive the food I ordered and got chili verde burritos when I ordered grilled chicken burritos. The second time I literally yelled my order so I would get what I ordered. Nonetheless, another chile verde burrito. I figured they made too much chile verde and had to get rid of it. I've seen other people bring there food back because it was the wrong order. Times do change and for this place, for the worst. read more

Do not tip them,don't feel bad..the owners are filthy rich...Check your order thoroughly,they are always in a rush so they mess up constantly..sour cream, pico etc..ask for it on the side,,they will never put it on your burrito but will definitely charge you.don't leave until you check everything.it's just a glorified fast food without the drive up window. read more

I have no other reason to come to Ventura but now I've found a reason. The amazing thing about this place is that the salsa isn't necessary for their food, it enhances it. I chose this place because it is very close to where I stay when working over in Ventura County. So far I have tried the burritos when I have taken food to go. The bean and cheese is so good in its simplicity. I really do like that one. The carne asada is one I have had a few times. They do well to eat later, I have ordered two of them twice. Shredded beef and shredded chicken are also a solid burrito. Salsa here is tasty and they do not act stingy with it. I always order outside, take the food across the street to my room. Growing up in Ventura, Corrales was always a staple piece in my family. However in the last couple of years it's gone down quite a bit. There burritos just aren't the same as they used to be. Even though placing a phone order is nearly impossible, it is worth it. The food here is ALWAYS good. Whenever someone comes from out of town, I always recommend this spot. I finally tried a local Ventura favorite "corn burritos" (which are really bean taquitos in corn tortillas with smothered cheese on top)... yum-o! Corrales has been a family go-to spot for years. Chicken taquitos, crispy tacos. They just recently celebrated 50 years in business!

It's so sad regarding what had happened to this place (Thompson and santa cruz location). I've been going to Corrales since before high school (class of 99] and it was always the best. Now they overcharge for their food, their salsa, and the employees are very cold and unwelcoming. I heard they sold a few years back when they stopped giving chips away with every order. Greed kills. I spent 100 bucks a month here easily but I'm finally done with them for good. Tacos El Diablo is my go to now. Goodbye Corrales, I'll miss what we had but your greed and new employees ruined it. read more

This used to be a family favorite because the food was so good, and they are locally owned, but their prices have skyrocketed and are no longer worth a visit. Okay Gringo Mexican food. I say gringo because it has more a fried/Mexican American vibe, opposed to authentic Mexican food. There was a line and people doing pick up. The corn burritos were topped with shredded cheese that was not melted, not sure if they always come like that, but I prefer the cheese nice and melty.
