Authentic Mexican restaurant located in Downtown Oxnard. My dad typically brings us menudo from this spot. Of course every person has their own sabor / taste so for some this may not be their spot and that's ok . It's been around for over 30 years so it appears many enjoy it :) Service was quick and friendly. I have two fried eggs , refried beans and handmade tortillas. To drink a coffee. Came here one morning and had a delicious Carne Asada Burrito and a Agua De Horchata. The Burrito was big and full and had a great flavor. Had great customer service from the staff and they were very nice. I would definitely come back. Give them a try if you're in the area. Solid meals. Warm and homey atmosphere. Some of the best enmoladas and menudo I've ever had. They make their tortillas fresh by hand and the coffee they serve has a nice hint of cinnamon. Every meal I've had here tastes like a home cooked meal. Completely unpretentious and refreshing compared to places like Los Agaves or Lalo's. I would give a 0 star if I could. The food is amazing but the customer service is through the floor. If you dont like something, you will be charged. When asked why I was being charged for a drink that I didn't like, I was not given a clear answer. Next, I asked for a manager she said she was it then proceeded to say she was the owner, but the nice man that also works there said not to charge the item, which begs to say is she really the "owner"? I didn't need the rudeness and the roll of the eyes, or the attitude and being told "you are old". That is not how a business is run. My family and I have kept coming back because the food, authentic! But when an "owner" speaks to the customers so rudely over a question as to WHY I'm being charged for something that did not taste good and then getting rolled eyes. I tip depending on service, I have tipped up to 25%, this time it was $0. Be careful when going here, the manager should never have a verbal fight with a customer. So we came here because of the reviews and it was tantalizing. I brought my father. 85 year old man craving Menudo. So we both had it. The service spot on, we were immediately sat by a beautiful girl. Wish I remembered her name. Anyhow the menudo was brought right away. 2-3 min tops. Plenty of onion, lemons, and oregano and even fresh cilantro. My father said it was "desabrido." In other words it was tasteless. Now in my opinion it was ok. It was a very large bowl, generous to say the least, paid $20 each. There are better establishments in oxnard you can try. Refer to my other reviews. I do recall the guy who had a convincing review that he goes there every night he binges on some special fluids. So his taste buds must be suboptimal after a hangover. I need to try other things on the menu but that is why I gave it a 3 start. It wasn't a horrible experience but I wasn't wowed, especially my father. He only ate a 1/3 of it. read more

I don't recommend this place, super unclean and the menudo is not that great had a strange piece of meat inside of mine that didn't belong in with the rest of the meat, They had this plate outside with lemon,onion and cilantro but it stayed on the table through out everybody switching and everyone use the same onions and lemons... looked dry and I'm sure people coughed and touched everything in that plate including flies being in there. I come here at least once a week. Keep an eye for the daily specials that are different takes on Mexican comfort foods. Weekends they make their famous Menudo. During the week its one of the only places you can get any type of caldo. My fave thing here is their custom quesadillas since they make their own tortillas they are super fresh and tasty. Free parking conveniently right outside their front door or in the adjacent public parking. The food is prepared very fresh and with lots of flavor. A excellent source tells me that the menudo line on Sunday is long- that should say something! Wait staff are friendly. Good portions- well served, and on many occasions, generous enough to share, or doggie bag. It seems that the meals come with hand made corn tortillas too. It was my first time here . One of my friends had posted photos on Facebook about the menudo. So I asked where it is . So she told me an I had to try it . So today I did . An I was not disappointed. I do want to start by saying that maybe my wife did love her pozole ok that said , we didnt have to wait much maybe 10 minutes before we were seated . The waitres stopped by asked about our drinks so far so good ..came back with our drinks and to get our order , my wife told her pozole , she asked me i said fish tacos she asked again , i said fish tacos lol she asked a third time !!! and then she aske my wife again whats she wanted !! ok after waiting for 15-20 minutes she comes back and asks my wife , " so you wanted pozole right ?" yesss pozole 5-10 minutes later we finally get the pozole and fish tacos , yes the pozole was good but my fish tacos were very overcooked VERY.. so i will probably give them another chance but i wont order fish tacos . Nice, sit-down place. Cozy and warm. A waitress came to the table and brought a menu. I asked about two of the specials: Cecina and Chulado de Puerco and she brought us samples to taste. We ordered a carne asada and shredded beef burritos. They came on a plate with a small salad. Rice, meat and cilantro inside of a fresh tortilla. The rice wasn't anything special and the meat didn't have a particularly memorable flavor, but for $3.99 it's a good deal. read more

La Placita has excellent costumer service, the food is great. I usually get the Caldo de Pollo (Chicken Soup) with home made corn tortillas. La Güera who I believed to be the owner always greets every costumer with a great smile and she's always willing to help out. It's located in the center of the city and has good parking. The only thing its that during the summer it can get very hot in there. But besides that, everything else it's excellent. If you pay with cash it will make it faster when you're checking out. read more
