This place has went to sh*t! Have been a customer since before the remodel and they used to be decent, with the occasional mess up. But now they are straight up terrible, idk if they switched cooks but the carne asada has no flavor at all and is like rubber! Every meat I have had from this place lately has been so chewy and full of fat and tendons. And if you get the taco truck special, expect some old dry corn tortillas. Disgusting. I really tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, hence why I kept returning. But I will not be coming back, and if you would like to not waste your money on crap food, do yourself a favor and do not give this place your business. Ceres needs better taco spots!!! read more

This place ROCKS!!!! I give it 10 stars!!!! well i went by this place by accident and wooow was i impressed. I was planning my sons b-day party, and i had originally had some1 else cater the food..well 5 days b4 the party they called me to cancell. My sister had told me about this place (but i had never ate there b4). So i stopped and ordered food to try it out. Well i got 1 lb. of carnitas, rice, beans, salsa and home made tortillas for less than $13.00....and it was so so so delicious. We decided to have the food catered from there..and all of my guests enjoyed it very much. It was ready at the time they told us and the price was excellent... they also have tacos there everyday, they pull a cart outside and make them there, i have never had their tacos but everytime i pass by there they have alot of people outside, they have a nice dinning area. The service here wasn't that great, the server took about 10 minutes to take our drink order and took another 10 minutes to bring me my beer! The carnitas plate I ordered only had cueritos and buche. The Corona I ordered wasn't even cold! Room temperature beer is not good unless it's free. Just sayin! read more

Carnitas Michoacan is by far the best Mexican stop in Ceres that I've had so far. I'm a big Mexican food eater, so whenever I'm going to be stopping in a town on a regular basis I need to find my "go-to" option. This place is easily it. Their carnitas are some of the best I've had..period. Their ambiance and location is nothing to brag about (though they are renovating their restaurant to accommodate more people), but that's not stuff that I care about. What I care about is the food and the food here is GREAT! Their carnitas dinner for two is a great value and they hook you up with a lot of carnitas, rice, beans, onions/cilantro/lime and fresh tortillas. Their fresh corn tortillas are currently being investigated by the FBI because they're the bomb. They have tacos for almost as cheap as the taco trucks (though I spring for the $1.79 taco for those fresh tortillas) and their meats are good. Carnitas is obviously their specialty, but the carne asada and al pastor isn't bad either. I've also tried their pupusa and it was pretty good too. If you live in Ceres, love Mexican food and haven't tried this spot yet you're doing yourself a huge disservice. Check this place out right away! read more

Hottest spot for taco cravings! Being a SDA and not eating pork, you would think I would veer away from this place but I'm all about not judging a book by its cover. I come for the 5 taco lunch special. Comes with a soda and if you eat in, you are delightfully surprised with their three bomb sauces(verde, rojo, and avocado) plus their chips and salsa. My go to is lengua, tripas and asada. With the tripas and lengua being a little more expensive, $7.25 for a filling meal is worth it! First try of this place last night. I like it. Service was excellent (we sat inside). I had the Carnitas and tried all of the salsas (love that guac/green sauce) that the server brought to the table. All are very tasty. My wife had the Ceviche and it was some of the best I've tasted. She agreed. BTW the place has beer. The outdoor seating area looked good, and clean. I ordered two pork and cheese Pupusas and I was not happy. I'm salvadorean and this is not a Pupusa. Very oily and no cheese. It was very crispy and fell apart. They should not have Salvadorean food at all in a mexican restaurant. the salsa they gave me was garlic garlic garlic. The super burrito was tasty I asked for steak and had chorizo. I went in during construction. I ordered out. I waited about 15 min in the heat. They should have fans and some chairs or something. Also Pupusas are over priced for them not to be good. read more

That sometimes happens even at really good restaurants so I tried it again last month since there were so many good reviews on here. I was excited to see it full of Mexican families when I walked in, usually a good sign for a Mexican restaurant. I ordered to go at the counter. Not super friendly service but maybe she just doesn't smile?? Anyways I ordered the chicken flautes and they were gross. Pulled chicken parts full of veins, mushy tortilla. Went to the car wash next door and tried this place out since I had it book marked forever. Got 3 taco truck styled tacos. Fairly priced at $1 each and $1.50 for tripas. The tacos were good, not greasy. I was able to pull away the bottom tortilla which is awesome because I usually make two tacos out of the one. I usually eat here during the day and I always enjoy the food and the customer service. Yesterday, me and my husband had a busy day so we decided to to go out and eat and it was late around 7-8pm. It was definitely different experience, there was only 2 customers in the restaurant when we got In there, no one came to the front register for about 5mins after walking in. We took our seat at a table, had a menu and the waiter asked if we wanted a drink to start with While we looked through the menu. It took about 10 minutes for the guy to come back to give us our drinks which was soda and water. I'm not sure how long it took to get our food but I know it took a long time maybe around 15-20min. I know our chips, dip, water and soda was finished before our food even came. We ordered the $15 pound carnitas that comes with rice and beans, taco truck special, and asada fries. Everything was good....but We didn't get our asada fries till way later after we were Almost come with our other food that came first. Now although I'm giving them 5 stars, it's because usually I eat there earlier in the day than at night and the day shift staff is always on point with everything. For what this is, they excel at what they do. As a tip, if you order your tacos with everything, they come with grilled peppers! I tried head tacos, carne asade tacos, and carnitas tacos and they were all good. I wouldn't order the head tacos again, I just ordered them to see if I would like it. Their tacos are on point and you get a coke when you order the taco plate. I also ordered the wet burrito and it was huge and delicious! It made excellent leftovers the next day! Tried this taqueria for the first time yesterday, i must say me and my husband were very iffy about it just because every time we try a new mexican place we get disappointed, this place tacos are one of the few that i could eat everyday the rice was on point not dry hard or mushy, the asada and carnitas were awesome! I have patronized this location for years, and never had an issue. I give it a star because their people relation is very poor. However, this the first time my husband, myself and my sister got food poisoning. October 20, 2021, I had their Carnitas family meal, few hours after we ate, we started having stomach pains, cramps and later diarrhea. I called to report it to the manager the following day. I did not receive a response until the third day. The person who called was not sympathetic, and did not show concern about our health. Instead, he claimed he never has issues with his food and stated if he there was an issue with the food there would a line of people going to the hospital. I let him know I was only calling to inform him that we got sick from the food he had bought that day. read more

I usually come here once or twice a month and I have never been disappointed until today. I ordered a carnitas plate which in the past averages about a 10 minute wait. Well today they were pretty busy so it took a little over 20 minutes. No big deal, they're busy right? So I start to eat and the carnitas are lukewarm. The beans? Same. The rice, same again. Normally I'd send the plate back but by this time I'm too hungry to wait another 20 minutes. I ate the carnitas with tortillas. Out of the whole meal the tortillas were the only thing that came hot to the table. I ate a bit of the beans but barely touched the rice. Flavor was okay but would've been better if the plate hadn't sat at the order window for 10-15 minutes before being served. Pretty sure that's what happened. I'll give them another chance but if this happens again I won't be back. read more

Absolutely delicious food. Honestly, the carnitas were not my favorite thing, even though that's what they're named for. I got the grilled shrimp burrito and it was out of this world. The asada and the grilled chicken were also really good. THE BEST thing we ordered, was the super quesadilla. It was incredible! The salsa was terrific. I asked for my shrimp burrito to be as spicy as possible. They didn't let me down! I eat habanero and ghost peppers now and then...this burrito got me sweating and my eyes watering. It was PERFECT!
