Even if the bar for authentic Mexican wasn't so low in Seattle, this place would STILL hit it out of the park! The menu is extensive from tacos with a wide array of meat choices to entire fish platters. Service was fast and friendly with an order-at-the-counter/table delivery system. The ambiance was lively with soccer games on the big screens and a packed crowd at 3 pm on a Sunday. We all had tacos and agreed that all of the meats were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Easy to miss this restaurant since it's literally a hole in the wall. I went here for lunch and had tamales (pork and jalapeño/cheese), tacos (al pastor, carnitas, and asada), torta (asada), and quesobirria tacos (comes in an order of 2). Their tortillas are homemade, so their tacos were good solely because it was the carrier to the okay-tasting-meat (that's what she said). The texture of the meat didn't stand out to me, but it wasn't bad. Definitely enjoyed the torta and the tamales were tasty, just needed more filling. Setting: During COVID time, they are only doing take out. There was a decent amount of free street parking close to the restaurant even though there is no official parking lot. The staff were wearing masks and gloves. They also had hand sanitizer for customers in the front. Food: Having tried numerous taco places in LA and San Diego, my expectations for tacos/burritos are definitely higher. Although this restaurant is not on par with the best taco places in LA, it is probably one of the best places in the Seattle area. We got the al pastor burrito, carnitas tacos, and carne asada tacos. The al pastor burrito was really tasty and filling. The tacos were both pretty good but because it was take out, I don't think the meat tasted as fresh. One thing I was pleasantly surprised by was how good the refried beans were. I typically wouldn't get beans and rice but they came as sides with the taco plate. If I were to get a taco plate again, I would get double beans instead of rice. My only complaint is that the hot sauce is just average. It's not really spicy nor flavorful. It's a minor thing that didn't take away from the meal too much. Value: Being from SoCal, I do think $2.50 for a taco and $11 for a burrito is a bit overpriced. However, $2-3 for a taco and $10-12 for a burrito in Seattle seems pretty standard so I'm willing to pay it for the higher quality food they serve here. Service: The service is excellent and the staff were very friendly. The food comes out real quick, hot and ready. I only wish I asked for more hot sauce and onions/cilantro. Other: If you check in on yelp, you can get a free taco plate as long as you spend $9. The taco plate itself is a $10 value so it's a great way to get a cheap meal for 2. Seattle isn't really known for having good Mexican food. This fact has been particularly sad for me as someone who grew up in Southern California, but I've finally found my go-to taco place! Their taco meats are juicy, flavorful, and authentic tasting. They also even have options for toppings built into their online ordering: for onions only, cilantro only, or both (which I appreciate as a cilantro hater). The only small criticism is that they only use one tortilla for their tacos, which can make them fragile, especially since they put a lot of meat on each taco. read more

Some of the dishes, such as the Chicken Burrito with Mole are huge where other dishes such as the chicken mole enchiladas are more moderate in size. The taco plate is 3 tacos with the meat of your choice and then you had to the taco bar to get all your taco fixings. The fish dinner? You get the entire fish, head to tail. I'm always glancing over at Carnitas Michoacan whenever I'm on Beacon Hill. But usually my destination ends up being an Italian neighborhood restaurant or a Filipino bakery. Yesterday (7/10/18) I finally made the decision to check it out. Granted it took a whole f-ing hour driving from north Lynnwood. But as long as there is sun, breeze, gas in the tank, and my tunes...all is good! Parked around the corner and then ventured in. A colorful crowd of Latinos and Asians in line or at the tables placed between the counter restaurant and the meat shop. I ordered one taco each: asada, al pastor, carnitas, and chorizo plus said yes to the onions and cilantro. Paid and was given a number. Counter service was meh. Scouted out a place to sit and checked out the refrigerated salsa bar. For me, lime wedges and tomatillo salsa were perfect. The platter o' tacos are ready as soon as your number is called. I liked the asada best...most flavorful. The other three were either kind of dry or bland during this particular visit. Squeezed more lime juice and drizzled the salsa to help it along. Paid a liitle over ten bucks for these, but only 1 of 4 commanded any attention. Was it worth the drive from Lynnwood to Seattle's Beacon Hill? Not really. There are much more savory and delightful tacos elsewhere. I was full, but not overly satisfied. read more

This place is too good. The lengua quesadilla fed my body and soul. Much like everywhere in Seattle the prices are higher than normal but I think at least you leave satisfied. The self-service salsa bar with sauces and napkins at every table is so underrated too, you dont have to wait for anything. Having said that, dining in a clean place with the primos cant be beat. I hate giving two stars ("Meh. I've experienced better") to a place with an obvious following, but it it really how I feel about this place. It was barely okay, and it had some problems. First, good luck finding parking. Second, the food was just kind of average. Some things were exceptional (the rice comes to mind), but most were only adequately executed and sort of just okay on seasoning. Some things were train wrecks. Since one of the specials of the day was the chile relleno, I ordered one. They make them ahead (they are on display--I posted a photo), which is not unusual. But when they serve the chile relleno with cold, unmelted cheese inside, that is a fail. The restrooms use some kind of air freshener that wafts out into the eating area (at least the back portion of it). Eeew. The food was just okay. I was kind of disappointed, and I wouldn't make a trip just to go eat here (just happened to be in the area for this visit). read more

Seeing really good ratings for this place makes me wonder if I had a one off negative experience. I ordered from Grubhub so maybe this is part of the issue. I ordered Enchiladas and what I got was a tortilla with mystery meat, a small amount of beans and rice on the side. It had an odd taste and was hard to get down. I had to eat something else after to get the taste out of my mouth. This seems a bit extreme and it was delivery after all, so maybe something unusual happened. Wonderful Mexican food and as a lover of Mexican, you can't find too many better ones than this one. Everything is fresh which is a must in good Mexican food. The tortillas are super delicious here, kind of a unique flavor you don't find in other Mexican places. The sauce bar is excellent, I love the avocado salsa (anything with avocado is superb for me). Oh yeah, the tamales, they are delicious. Definitely give them a try if you come. One thing about this place is parking kind of sucks but if you take the light rail, it's just a short walk from the Beacon Hill light rail station. Weekends can get packed and they play soccer games so you'll get a lot of folks coming in to watch but what a nice place to have Mexican, we come here when we can. read more

All the Yelp reviews for this place were right! The food here is delicious and very fresh! This place has an open kitchen, so you can see your food being made. I love that they freshly hand make the tortillas for the tacos. I came here with my cousin, and we tried the tacos (pastor, carnitas, and lengua), carnitas quesadilla, and the chicharonne. I enjoyed everything, but my favorite was the carnitas. The meat is very juicy and flavorful, and the tortillas have a nice chew and holds well. Disclaimer: Take-Out We came here to pick up some food to bring back to my bestie's house (who lives nearby) an hour before closing, which was not ideal. Of course at that hour - they had run out of the carnitas (and pico de gallo), so I ordered two steak tacos and two pork tacos to go. The cashier mentioned that for carnitas - get here early! Noted for next time. Once we got back to my friend's house, I was happy to see the tacos were neatly packaged in the to-go container, so still intact. Oftentimes I've gotten to-go orders and the food is all messy, so was pleased this wasn't the case for the tacos. The tacos were solid. Of the meats - I was surprised that I liked the steak one better than the pork, but the pork was still tasty and is worth trying here. Steak was juicy, tender and had great smoky flavor to it. The pork was a tad too dry, like it was sitting out all day - but not bad. You could tell it had good seasoning to it. The handmade tortillas were fine, not at all anything I'd be craving again, so would most likely try a different entree for next time. Four tacos was very filling, so was stuffed afterwards! You'll also want to take advantage of the salsa bar, especially if you like it HAWT. The seeds were in the mix, so I'd smother the tacos in salsa and dang, did it bring the heat I was hoping for and more! Overall, this is a nice addition in the north Beacon Hill neighborhood for affordable and authentic Mexican food.
