Has this place gone to the Dogs??? Dined here for the first time with my wife and two friends. This is a pet friendly restaurant and you can see people eating outside with their dogs as early as 11 in the morning. There wasn't any ducks to be seen. Our initial gripe was the service which wasn't particularly warm or friendly (not something that we usually find in Summerville). A patron's connection with a server is probably 75% of your dining experience at an eatery and here it was cold and unassuming. However, what was especially disappointing was the food. My burger was a dry hockey puck and was basically your typical frozen burger that you would order on the cheap from Costco. This isn't typical for a pub, a freshly made burger is usually a staple of Pub fare and it was a surprise that they would serve a frozen paddy. The fries were also nothing special as they were unenjoyable and a disappointment. My guests were also disappointed in their individual meals as well. It's possible that we hit this spot on a "bad hair day" and since we live in Summerville, we may at some point give the Dog and Duck a chance for redemption. read more

Visited Dog and Duck again Iordered the "Special" and it was not... special by any means. It was ok at best. When I asked the bartender for some ice she gave me a nasty look and replied (in her best hateful voice) "I'm on the phone"! I said I see that and I'm in no hurry I just wanted to let you know as you passed by. In her defense it was busy and she was moving fast, and that's why I mentioned it in passing. Go and enjoy! We visited again, and had an excellent experience. Our waitress couldn't have been better; she was efficient, personable, and attentive. I tried the BLT, and was rewarded with THE best BLT I've ever had. With a fresh and flavorful tomato, a stack of crispy bacon, and toasted Texas bread, it was just the perfect summer sandwich. I like D&D because they've got a rotating selection of local drafts, and I'm always up for trying a new brew. We got one of the last tables available when we got in, so it was busy! Our server greeted us right away, and gave us time to look over the menu. They have daily specials to check out too! We ordered some drinks and the 1/2 nachos. Wow they were big for a 1/2 order, I can only imagine what a full order looks like. We then ordered wraps which both of us really enjoyed but only could finish 1/2. While their they started bingo, it was a bit hard to hear what was going on, so we lost interest super quick. However, they were giving out gift certificates as prizes. They have outdoor patio that is heated, only downfall for us was people were smoking out there and I wouldn't want to be around that while I ate. I have heard good things about Dog and Duck for years, but I just never tried it until this weekend. I guess it's a sports bar. They had basketball on the tv. They have outdoor patio seating, a bar inside, a main room with booths and tables and a cozy little side room with a few more booths. The patio was full last night since the weather was nice. Inside wasn't too busy. The only small complaint I have is that the sign says seat yourself but then they don't realize that you are there and you have to find someone to come take your order. On to the menu and food! This is where I say Dog and Duck really got it right. Their prices are very reasonable and their food is excellent. They have a good selection of drinks, and nice options for happy hour. I got a good blueberry sour ale which I definitely recommend. I ordered the pb&j burger which at first glance sounds strange or even spicy because of the pepper jam, but is actually quite a wonderful combination. It all goes very well together. And the green beans may have been the best green beans I have ever had at a restaurant. They aren't the squishy canned green beans you get so often (which I also enjoy as long as they are seasoned well), these are good fresh green beans with a bit of a snap to them and a beefy flavor. I will be back to Dog and Duck to try out more of the interesting food options here and maybe check out their happy hour. read more

We were going to eat at Andolini's this day, but when we got there, they were closed. We looked up what else was near by. We found Dog and Duck. Neither one of us have ever been to one of these Dog and Ducks, so we decided to try it. The first thing my boyfriend noticed was that the sign said this was a family pub. We joked about how people would bring their kids to the bar. But I guess that is exactly what this place is all about. We walk up and notice a lot of people were in the outside sitting area. We decided to sit inside where there were much less people. Inside, there's a long bar area and quite a few booths. We got the menu. I notice that all they have is a couple different kinds of hot dogs and hamburgers. Actually, their alcoholic drink menu was larger than their food menu. I don't drink alcohol, I came for the food. I chose to get a chili cheese dog with a side of German Jojos. It was a Nathan's hot dog, pretty good quality dog. The German Jojos were delicious, served with your choice of ranch or blue cheese. I think this place is more of a bar than a restaurant. I did not know that before coming to eat here. There are not many food options. The food they do have seems to be pretty good. The service was alright. I probably won't be back. If you like to drink alcohol, check this place out. If you don't, look elsewhere for food. read more

We popped in on a Friday evening around 7pm and didn't haven't any problem finding a spot at the bar. On the way in we noticed that this place is super dog friendly which is exciting. The atmosphere is a little nicer than a dive bar. The staff were fantastic - super friendly and engaged. I had the cheesesteak and my wife had the French Dip. The outside allows dogs and smoking for it was full of people. I like that the place is dog friendly (or the name would be silly!) We ordered a beer and a margarita with an appetizer right away. Our food got there before the drinks though. We ordered the back bean queso dip. It was very good and came with chips. My husband ordered the fish and chips and I got the double dipped house garlic wings. The food came out hot and was delicious. The service was good and our waitress was very helpful.
