So I have to hand it to Craig for repeatedly astonishing me with his prompt replies, his helpful suggestions, and his prompt on-site service from his team. I cannot speak highly enough about how easy and even enjoyable it was to work with every member of this company that we were in contact with. We recently decided to breakup with Carolina Blue Pools & Spas. It was tough, because most of our experience was really good. Our breaking point was (1) our belief that maybe our pool wasn't being cleaned for a little while, because (2) our pool developed black algae. If our pool was getting serviced every week, including cleaning and chemicals, why would this happen? A weird initial sign for us was, we were getting a notice that our pool was getting serviced, but it was clearly not our pool. We were told it was a glitch and our pool was getting serviced. And maybe thats true, but maybe it's not not. We tried to address the black algae multiple times, and got feedback like "it's just debris" but if it was debris, why leave it on the bottom of our pool, if you're supposed to clean our pool? Crap, if it was debris, I can use a pool net myself! And to add insult to injury, the email after the "service" you get says "Your Pool is Now Sparkling Clean!" in general, there was no effort to resolve this issue. It was black algae, which requires more work to remediate, including maybe having to drain the pool. We get it'll take work to address, but just be accountable. Work with the customer to solve the issue. When we gave the notice that we were ending our service, there was no attempt to address our concerns or ask why. That says a lot about the customer - we're just a number. In our last month of service, they came to our house and skimmed the pool, and they might have added some chemicals but not a lot. Within less than a week of the last service, we saw that tinge of green starting to come through. Overall, we're just disappointed. If you asked us 3 months ago if we are going to send our pool service with Carolina, it would never have crossed our minds. And I've read the feedback from Craig on here. Yes, employees can change, I get that, so maybe in the future, it'll be different, but I'm sharing this feedback as it relates to our experience in the very recent past as if the date of this review. It's about consistency, and when or if it's not, just be accountable. read more

The owner himself is fantastic. He is responsive, understanding, kind, and over all the reason why we picked this company and stayed for as long as we did. We had been unhappy with the poor work of the employee assigned to our home for some time now. The owner and I have been in communication over this. Today however was our breaking point. The employee left trash in our pool, after "skimming" it for about 8 minutes, but on the security camera the worker was just skimming one area over and over again allowing debris to escape with every swipe. I have expressed concern that the pool wasn't being brushed and if it was, major areas were skipped, sadly 1 and 1/2 minutes with the brush showed that the worker has not taken him employer nor the customer seriously, and that has not improved at all. The most frustrating part was not securing our gate when he left, luckily I was home and could double check and make sure our dogs were safe. When I went to secure the pool gate (because the worker has not once locked the gate after cleaning so I always have to do it for him) I discovered a great deal of debris and even worse trash in the pool. I cleaned up some of it, but then stopped to take a picture of what was left before texting the owner. I would like to say that the owner has been very professional, and I wish that we could keep using him, but sadly we just don't trust that his employees will perform to owners or our expectations. read more
