Looking around Google maps for a lunch place near the hubs mom I came across Carolina Brewery.& Grill. We ordered the cheeseburger egg rolls and 2 mason jar Mimosas to start. The egg rolls had good flavor and were nice and cheesy. Evidently, you can only get one Mason jar at a time because it's not the drinking glass size jar, it's large and has a whole bottle of bubbly in it. We got grapefruit instead of orange juice and it was delicious. Hubs got the chicken and waffles, his mom got a burger and I got the Chicken biscuit with pimento cheese. Everything was great and my biscuit was thick and messy... Yum! We sat outside as it was a beautiful day. Our server was a little off his game as he'd worked a double the day before, but we really liked him. It would definitely be a cool place to go see live music while enjoying food and drinks. Carolina Brewery Wednesday night is fried chicken night. I had the half chicken with mash potatoes. I did this plan for leftovers tomorrow. The half chicken, is wing, leg, thigh, and breast very tasty. I always order the half so I have leftovers. It is just as good warmed up the second day. My wife had the ale meat pie, it had a thin layered crust top with a meaty vegetable mixture beneath. My wife enjoyed and I sampled the pie. It was a meaty tasty mixture, it was on the seasonal menu. So, it will be around for the month. But, on Wednesday I never pass up the fried chicken. We also shared the loaded French fries. They are so good and so large they would make a meal by themselves. So, that is how I made room for leftovers. read more

My friends hosted their rehearsal brunch here. They had catering and I have to say the food was delicious!!! We LOVED the salmon. The staff who served everyone were polite, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Many of us got drinks and we were happy with them! We had 11:00 reservations - arrived at 11 asked for a corner booth to do some business work - was denied said this was for larger parties - was seated at a booth in the back which would seat 6 people - no one was ever seated at the corner booth the entire time we were there (11-1) Was asked if we wanted appetizers - asked for chesseburger egg rolls and the carna asada tacos - neither were ready even though the restaurant opens at 11 - was told they only had onion rings - had to ask another wait staff to ask our wait staff to refill our diet cokes - the service was rude and inattentive - food was mediocre- very very disappointed in this place! I visited the Carolina Brewery with a large group celebration. The business was very accommodating with giving our party a separated area in their upstairs loft. The staff was very friendly and attentive to everyone and their requests. I ordered the Brewery Cheeseburger with fries. It was delicious. The burger was cooked to my liking and the fries were tasty. Good place for a socially distant, safe evening out. Although their indoor seating areas can become crowded, they have a large outdoor seating area. The outdoor tables are spaced out to promote social distancing and each has one or more heaters. Even on a chilly evening we stayed warm at the tables. We were greeted upon arrival and were given a choice of where we wanted to sit. We chose to sit outside. Our awesome waitress Sharon greeted us and took our drink orders. She provided recommendations when requested and informed us of their QR menu. I decided on the sky blue kolsch ($5.75) and placed an order for guacamole with chips ($9.95). I enjoyed both. The guacamole was pricy, but satisfying. I typically prefer darker beers, however, the sky blue kolsch satisfied my desire for a refreshing, crisp beer. Sharon is amazing. She was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our stay. Regarding COVID-19, all employees were wearing masks. The tables were socially distant, menus were accessible with a QR code, and doors were labeled as entrance or exit doors. They also have a hands-free method of opening the bathroom door. My husband and I have given this restaurant many opportunities to earn our business. The food and service is inconsistent at best. Today however, we basically decided, we are done. We spent $146 dollars including tip for 2 sandwiches, 2 fish and chips and one chicken fingers along with ice tea and 4 beers. Sadly we were given cold and over cooked or refried fries with our fish. The fish was lukewarm warm and batter also over fried. The chicken fingers were okay but bad fries. The chicken sandwich had cold fries and thankfully the hamburger had hot fries. Carolina Brewery is worth the 30 minute, county over drive for their food and beer. We have literally called them before to see if they had their onion rings (they do, by the way) because they sell out of those sometimes. Their salads are huge, so don't feel bad for only eating half and taking home your leftovers. Their brunch menu is quite extensive and the chicken biscuit really needs two hands to eat it, so if you plan to hold a sleeping toddler, either deconstruct it or get another fantastic menu item. The service is consistent, and our waitress was really good at providing feedback to help us narrow down the food choices. The ambiance is very laid back. They have more booths and tables on one side, and then a bar on the other with more booths. It's generally on the cooler side in the restaurant, so if you're one to get cold easily, bring a jacket. The beer is worth sticking around to have more than one, so make sure to get an appetizer to go along with it. read more

Surprised this place only has 3 stars? Came here with my boyfriend and his parents a couple of weeks ago and the food was fab. It was not very busy, tables spaced out, everyone wearing masks. We ordered the nachos with chicken as an app and they were honestly some of the best nachos I have ever had. I could have easily eaten the entire thing by myself. Typically I like to look at Yelp for pictures of items before I order at a new place and once I saw a picture of the Calabash Shrimp, I knew I wanted it. They were so crispy and I loved the sauce it came with. My only complaint about the food is that the hushpuppies were, to the honest, terrible. I could not even finish eating one. They just had no flavor. One odd thing was that they didn't have their sides listed on their menu so we had to have her read them off to us. Got there today at around 12:45, was told there would be maybe a 10 minute wait, and we were seated at 1. The restaurant was pretty clean, a few tables were left dirty from previous guests, but it wasn't busy at all. A few minutes after we were seated, our waitress came to our table. We asked a few questions, but didn't get the response or recommendations we were looking for. My husband settled on the BBQ pork sandwich and water, and I got the brewery burger, and asked for 1000 islands on the side with Dr Pepper. After we ordered and got our drinks, we BARELY saw our waitress. We have this theory that if we go to a brewery or bar for food, and if we don't order some sort of alcohol, it's as if we become invisible to our server, and it proved to be true here. Our drinks were long gone by the time we got our food. As the server was setting our items down, she noted that they didn't give me my side of 1000 islands and mentioned she'd be back with it. She never came back with it or realized she forgotten it. My burger and fries were barely warm. Started with eating just half, hoping the waitress would return with the 1000 islands but she never did. The fries really seemed like they could have had potential if they were fresh but they were cold and floppy by the time I got them. My husbands BBQ pork sandwich was flavorless, as well as the coleslaw on it. My husband described it as just chopped up lettuce with no seasoning. He paid extra for sweet potato fries. They tasted like they were under a heat lamp for far too long. We noticed a few empty tables had a caddy with BBQ sauces and other condiments, and we took one from a table since our waitress never provided one or offered it, and we were done mostly by the time she stopped by to ask how everything was. They do provide a military discount, which was welcome, and if I didn't dislike confrontation so much I would have said something about the meal but our demeanor should have indicated something wasn't right. Since this place brews their own beer, I was stuck with their house IPA...I was offered a sample taste which I accepted. Beer was good. The food, absolutely awful. Ordered fish and chips. Was immediately informed that they don't have cod, the usual type of fish for this dish. Instead, I was informed they have a flounder. I did not mind the flounder, even preferred it. Food came quickly - not really a good sign. The fries were old and dark and dry - bottom of the overused oil pan - gross, cancer ingredient for sure. The flounder was so bad - no meet, just breading, even the waitress felt bad and immediately told me she will request another piece. When it arrived, it wasn't any better and she knew it too. I want to stress out that I never uttered a word of complaint. The waitress saw the food and that was enough for her to act. In addition to the no meat-on-the-fish, the flounder was very bland, pretty disgusting. Otherwise, the place is nice. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff very friendly and attentive. Hubby and I stopped by here on our way back from Asheboro back to Garner. This is always used to be our go-to place when we lived in Chatham County and since we were in the area looking at property we had to stop. We always love sitting in the bar that's always the best place for vibe. We always grab a corner seat so we can look out all the people. We ordered the chicken nachos and they did not disappoint. Absolutely amazing was a perfect meal for the both of us. We did get a side of sour cream and guacamole and this nacho I would say was the best we've ever had. And my husband has had his share of nachos. We love the staff, the place was extremely clean and social distancing as usual. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go back. Sadly the food quality of this place is awful! Everything was cold and soggy french fries. It looks to me that it's either they are short of staff or simply the cook don't care about how the food is serve or taste. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, beer and football. Got exactly what we hoped for - elevated bar food, good local brew and a fun atmosphere to watch the games. Blackened fish tacos were excellent. Their version of the east coast IPA was very true to style.
