Wish I could give 0 or negative stars. I've been here before, around last July and was excited to try again. I drove here about a week or 2 ago, and when I walked in, 2 servers looked at me (short blond hair and long brunette haired ladies), then looked away and didn't greet me. It was so weird! I felt uncomfortably invisible and I hate that. They just appeared to keep bussing tables, talking to everyone else, and ignore me. I nervously picked up their menu to take a pic, as I'd originally intended to help them on Yelp. So much for that. 5 mins later, still no communication to me from one staff member. I apprehensively looked around and saw little to no diversity present. God, not this again. I tried not to think the worst yet they made it so hard. How could they let me just stand here like this? is this what discrimination looks like?..... I figured idk... they're probably just busy, right? Those servers were walking pretty fast, I guess. Maybe they're understaffed?? So, I waited. And waited. And WAITED.... Even the kitchen staff finally at least looked over at me standing there foolishly after about what felt like 10 min, and I heard them laugh amongst themselves (however, I can't assume I know whether it was about me, right??). There's a huge open window to the kitchen counter and it was very awkward seeing 2 kitchen staff, a taller lady with short blond hair and a man, shorter than her, with very dark brown, short hair) work amongst themselves and not even signal to the servers walking into the kitchen that there was a paying customer visibly waiting to be checked out. The last time I was here at least someone had taken my order way before now. I didn't see her working there that day (very friendly taller lady with dark brown hair, funny and polite, unlike the staff now). I took a breath to calm myself, closed my eyes and swore I would leave if nobody acknowledged me in the next 5 seconds. I counted down, opened my eyes and still not one employee could be bothered to come to the front desk, ask how many people were in my party, nor ANYTHING. I finally decided I'd had enough. I moved to leave and suddenly the blond, shorter-haired server I'd actually seen look over at me as I walked in earlier, sounded like she sighed. Then she turned abruptly to me and said "What do you need?" in a weird, seemingly aggressive and exacerbated way. Of all things to say? Not hi, how are you, have you been here before, nothing... I don't believe I was treated with the same level of respect and customer service as the other (sorry to say it, less melanated patrons) or even as much as I had received the first day I tried this place last year.. I felt so humiliated and I immediately responded with "Nothing, thanks" and left. It happened so fast, I almost wish I'd said something else... I guess I just really wanted to leave by that point. They've definitely lost a previously loyal customer who went out of my way to recommend this place to ppl and out of my kindness attempted to help them grow. So much for that. Right now, I just can't stomach ever coming here again. I say dont bother going, either. read more

UPDATE (Long overdue). Sorry for leaving the 1 star review up for so long. Without going into the story of how a group of us ended up back at Carol's Cafe a few years later, let's just say that second (or third) chances are important because you never know if a prior visit was just at an off time. When we tried it again, it was good home cooking in a down to earth place that was MUCH cleaner! Not sure if the ownership had changed, or if they just realized that cleanliness matters, but it was much better and we have all eaten there together and separately many times over the years since. The folks who work there are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. Can now recommend Carol's to anyone who wants a meal that's not fancy but is very good. read more

The people here are very friendly, but the food is nowhere near what my grandmother made. She didn't open cans, use instant potatoes and instant gravy. That's what this place serves. None of the vegetables had any seasoning. They were just heated up. The breakfast some people were eating looked right though. Just okay for a meat and three place, but nothing to go out of the way for. read more

This is a little hole in the wall cafe. We have lived a few blocks away for months and never noticed it. It looks like it's original from the 60. This is real country food. We actually enjoyed it. The prices were great the food was good. Standard food for standard prices. Nice little traditional American diner. read more

The place is not pretty and looks borderline run-down. Has the hole-in-a-wall diner feel to it. However we came here 2-3 times, each time hoping for something better or more. The food was okay, ordered a burger and fries. Both cooked well, but they tasted about as good as I make them at home in a skillet. Not very impressed. Each time I had something a little different, none the least bit impressive. It pains me to say this, but Waffle House is an upgrade compared to this place. I'll spend my money elsewhere moving forward. read more

This place doesn't look like much, but that usually means the food is going to be great. Carol's didn't disappoint. We came by for lunch on Sunday. I had the chicken tenders, mashed potatoes & okra. My husband had salmon patties (one of his favorites!), greens and okra. The portion size is huge, and the prices are great. The service was good as well. I enjoyed my first visit to Carols. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was pretty dang good and absolutely affordable. When the menu says 2 pancakes don't worry they're not being cheap those suckers are monstrous! I will note that not having fountain sodas is ridiculous. Buying by the can seriously bugged me. The restroom was clean but as far as I could tell they only had one. No men's and women's. There is ample parking and they serve breakfast all day. Chances are I'll go back. Hit carols this morning for an impromptu breakfast meeting. Other than the front door, the place was pretty clean with a health score in the high ninety's. They do have a wide ranging breakfast menu including just about any type of breakfast meat you could imagine including 3 types of sausage, fried bologna and spam too. Bacon was the thinner type cooked to a light crispy without being burned. The patty sausage was top notch. Look forward to going back and trying out the Beef Tips and Rice for lunch soon. read more

My father and I come here almost every Saturday for breakfast. We love how good the food is and the nice atmosphere. The staff knows us so well that the waitress doesn't even bring us menus anymore because she knows our order. My father always gets the meat lovers omelette and biscuits and gravy and he's never been disappointed. I switch up my order every now and then but I usually get the pancake breakfast and it is lovely, the pancakes they make are some of the best I've ever had, they're thick and fluffy and delicious. read more

I like to find new places, had to drop my car off pulled up Yelp and look for breakfast food. I'm happy I found Carols! The food is good. I had a half skillet with an over medium egg and a biscuit with gravy. Had enough gravy to smother my skillet which was a plus! 4 stars because the coffee was ok and instead of a fountain for drinks they gave out cans. We literally live 3 minutes away from Carol's without knowing how much of a gem it is!! My boyfriend and I were looking for some good breakfast, but did not want to go to Waffle House or I-Hop. It looks quaint and cute and it was my turn to pick the place for date night. It's the kind of place where you expect to walk in and get great greasy southern food. Maybe some people do, but we certainly did not. The burger was clearly out of a pack and cooked till it was hard as a rock. Chicken fried steak was similar. It looks like the lunches they serve in elementary school, and I am very glad I always brought my lunch. Worst part of the dinner, the sweet tea. Seriously, how do you screw up sweet tea?? Best breakfast around. If yo!have ever been to the Silver Skillet in Downtown Atlanta, this is the Marietta version. Many local 'regulars' eat here and most of the time they greet you with a friendly 'hello' when you come in. After I had come a few times, Brenda even remembers my order! My favorite is country ham, eggs, grits and a biscuit, which are large, fluffy, and made daily. I believe they have every breakfast meat known to mankind.
