Owner is born and bred here in Woodstock. The care she gives to the quality of food is tremendous. First hamburger place ever and still thriving. She couldn't be bought off. Etowah high school had nothing but the school and no where for hang outs after football games, until the famous Pizza Hut, that "was" down the street. I pray it stays past the next few generations. So nice to see something that resembles what Woodstock was made upon,. The great people and safe everywhere you went. I'm very disappointed that if I had ordered through an online service that my breakfast would have been almost $4 less than going through the drive-thru. You would think that it would be the other way around. The drive-thru has some gnarly potholes, and while to some, the yellowing walls, signage & general state of deterioration might be endearing, proof that the restaurant has stood the test of time, this place desperately needs a good polishing. The sausage patty wasn't even the diameter of a Coke can, so there was way more biscuit than sausage, while the "steak" (pretty much a breaded & fried ground beef patty) actually matched the size of the biscuit. At $1.45 & $1.75, respectively, for a *small* hashbrown triangle (about the size of my index finger, and I don't have large hands) & cup of grits, I certainly won't be ordering those again. Without the aid of my home air fryer, the biscuits are no longer crispy and pillowy, but rather soft and doughy, signifying that large batches are made in advance and kept in a warming oven. My order was pretty simple and should have been ready within minutes, but instead I had to wait about 10 minutes in the drive-thru. With that kind of wait, I would expect a freshly baked biscuit, or at least one that had been freshly toasted (see above). Burger Inn used to be one of my favorite breakfasts in Woodstock, but like so many restaurants, the prices are keeping up with inflation, and their quality is declining. It makes me sad that a locally owned establishment has fallen from glory to mediocrity. read more

I've been interested in trying this spot since I see long lines there on some mornings. I don't know why I expected burgers to be on the menu but I saw no burgers on the menu today. I went for a late lunch. There is a drive-thru. I wanted for about 6-7 minutes. Seems everything was prepared to order. It's a rather old-school spot. The green beans were pretty good. I had to add some salt and pepper. I was surprised with how good the mac and cheese was, and it was baked. Loved the cornbread. That muffin was everything. I was underwhelmed by the chicken filet. It was grilled but was nothing more or nothing less. I ate everything. read more

Came here for breakfast. There is a drive thru and you can order at the counter. The staff were friendly. They had a nice selection of breakfast items. The biscuits were huge! Everything was good. The place was clean with lots of signs to read while you waited on your food. I could tell many of the customers were regulars. read more

Oh my WORD! We went for breakfast after seeing so many raves about this place and praise the lord, they are accurate! I would go every day if it wouldn't kill me in several ways... The location is very unassuming but you can tell from the smells & lack of peacocking that they mean business. It looks frozen in the early 90's and I love it. Worry about the food and not the flair! I got a bacon & cheese biscuit with a potato wedge and a Coke. My husband got biscuits & gravy, grits and a milk... No comment. I think it came out to $19 or so, and I was fine with that. The ladies at the counter were sweet but you can tell they're trying to get work done so there wasn't a ton of pleasantries exchanged. I'm also fine with that, most of the time I just want to exchange my money for your food and not hear about your granddaughter's Squishmallows or your nephew's little league tournament. Our food was out with 10 minutes and I was thrilled. The portions were great, they used actual bacon on my biscuit, all the textures looked wonderful - I felt optimistic. And rightly so! Probably the BEST biscuits within 20 miles! There are a ton of meat options, including hot links. I usually get the sausage egg and cheese or pork chop biscuits but I have had the country ham and a few others. The biscuits are as big as your face! I love their grits and biscuits and gravy as well. These people know what they are doing! It's divey, and the place looks like it's been there since the 70's. I do know that it's a local's favorite! Place order for Breakfast special (2 eggs, grits, biscuit and 2 bacons), sausage gravy biscuit and steak, egg, cheese biscuit. Everybody enjoyed their meal. Burger Inn has been there for a long time. Still have never lower their standards to a fast food establishment! You order your food then seat at booth to eat and enjoy it. Everybody else is order and get out! Next!! If you know about Woodstock, then you certainly know about Burger Inn. Hearing about this place is like six degrees of separation as we all know at least one person who was eaten at this tiny neighborhood joint! Burger Inn is located on Canton Road about a block off of 92 and has been sitting in this same spot for over 40 years. And I must say that they haven't changed a bit in those 40 years as legit everything is original from the signage to the flooring and the booths...and of course the menu, which is a mix of old school reader board and handwritten chalk board. Given all the original stuff here, the place is certainly dated and if I am being honest, does not feel or appear to be the cleanest. I get things wear with age and age brings character, but a tiny refresh of a few things may not be the worst thing...I mean, I get it as Burger Inn is a local neighborhood hangout that has been slinging breakfast and burgers to the Woodstock folks for decades. I appreciate a good classic spot, but I guess in today's environment, I look to the cleanliness/condition of a spot a little more. Burger Inn is not a big place and roughly seats about the same amount of folks as your average Waffle House would, minus the bar seating. This is a counter order spot, as you would guess, so you order at the counter and they call your ticket number when ready. While you can go up to the counter to get your food, the kitchen staff are quick on their feet and once they see who it belongs to they are quick to head to your table and drop it off. Each table is fitted with salt, pepper, steak sauce and napkins. If you need any other items, they have a condiment station next to the counter that includes jams, jellies, ketchup, mustard, utensils, napkins, sugar, etc...This station also acts as the fresh coffee station, so given its counter service only, the coffee station is self serve...they just keep the carafes full! Service was decent, a little hectic, but decent. The staff working the counter consisted of a few children and what I assumed to be the owner, or at least a member of the owning family. She was nice, but overwhelmed and had to walk off and come back to me a few times before we finally landed on my lunch. Not the worst interaction I have ever had, but was a little off putting. Food - as you can imagine, they are well known for their burgers. On the day I visited, I was in a lunch plate mood and since they have daily specials during the week that consist of a meat and couple of veggies for only $6.49, I just couldn't resist...especially after I found out they had white pepper gravy with their Country Fried Steak! Along with the CFS, I got fried okra and macaroni and cheese along with a roll and of course a sweet tea to wash it all down. I will say that they cook everything to order here as everything on my plate came out hot! The country fried steak was decent. The breading kept breaking away from the steak itself and the steak was a little tough than I like. The gravy salvaged it to a certain extent. The okra was crispy, hot and fried to perfection, no complaints there! The mac n cheese was clearly homemade as it featured multiple layers of noodles and cheese with the top layer of cheese you see on a good baked mac n cheese. My only issue with this was it was very oily. I could only eat about half the mac n cheese due to this. In my honest opinion, the food was just ok. I do appreciate the phenomenal prices, but in this case I do feel that I got what I paid for. Overall, Burger Inn is a staple in the Woodstock community and I can see why. During my visit around lunch time there were still groups of elderly gentlemen that were on a first name basis with the staff and that were just there to enjoy some coffee and company. While I don't think it will become my neighborhood go to spot, I do have to come back and try the namesake burger at some point! read more

I've driven by this place for years and have often wondered how good it is. It's got a pretty crowd most days, so I took the opportunity to go with my son today to check it out. With a name like Burger Inn, we figured we'd try their namesake menu item. Ugh...I wanted to like this place so bad. It's a hole in the wall with a seemingly loyal following, but I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about. Their burger has barely any meat and tasted artificial. You need the condiments to cover it up. The fries we got were pretty good, and the onion rings were quite good. I've been driving pass Burger Inn for at least 15 years or more it seems....it's a neighborhood established hang out and its sort of legendary. The place is about the size of a waffle house but with some sass. They have all these cute homemade signs that tell you what is what and which way to go and how far to go....signs like "love thy neighbor but don't get caught" are just an example.... They serve basic breakfasts such as homemade fluffy biscuit with grits and scrambled eggs cooked the way your mom cooked them back when you could still free load off your parents...unless of course your mom couldn't cook then well not sure what to tell you then.... Their burgers are basic but tasty and best of all they're priced just right. For a burger, fries and a drink it's about $5-$6 bucks. Of course the best part are the customers. When I was there the first time the people sitting at another table begin talking to me and next thing you know we begin talking to the people sitting at another table and I ended up staying much longer than I expected because it was so much fun talking to the folks there. I thought this place was closed down for a while when I moved out this way. Finally realized it has always been open, so don't let the tinted windows fool you. I had to quarter pounder with cheese, onions rings, and slaw dog. I was slightly disappointed the burger patty is not made in-house, at least it seemed to be just a pre-made patty they cooked. It was still a decent burger, but nothing like a classic homemade burger. The hotdog and onion rings made up for it though. Onions rings are nice and crispy with a good onion-to-breading ratio. The hotdog has a good taste and the slaw was a simple slaw that was just right for the. This place is a good hole in the wall joint that is worth trying. Listed the Burger Inn today. It was 'OK' at most. First Impression - Dirty tables. Ended up having to get some napkins a wipe one of the table off myself. Service - the female working the register was more like a drill sergeant. Not personable at all. It was almost as if she was scolding me as I placed my order. Very impatient. Food - Ok. This is a good "Hole in the Wall" burger place. It's a nice change from McDonalds, Burger King and all of the other fast food burger places. The Burgers are a nice size. Fries and Onion Rings are good as well. The chili is ehh. A little on the watery side for me. I got a side of it to try it with my fries. Not planning on ordering it again. However last time I ate there I did drive thru and was shorted $10 in change and did not discover it until I got home - my bad for not counting the change but just a warning if you do decide to go there.
