I texted Carolyn just after 7 am on Friday and she was able to squeeze us in and was at our house in Saratoga by 9 30. My cat had clear signs of a UTI and was miserable - using the litter box probably every ten minutes. I had taken him in to our regular clinic but they failed to provide the needed antibiotic and only sent us home with pain management and a calming medication. Needless to say, the next two days he and we were miserable, we hated how much he was suffering. Instead of taking him back there, I texted Carolyn. She diagnosed him right away and assured me he was not as dehydrated as I had feared. She injected him with an antibiotic and a calming medicine and left three more doses of the calming medicine for us to inject him (he is a feisty cat and giving him oral medication isn't easy). Within that day, he showed clear signs of being on the road to recovery. I am so grateful for Dr Araiza and her precise, prompt treatment. We have our happy cat back. read more

The dog was dumped in the corner of her back seat with a very small room because her car seat had so many other items on it . She did not seem having any care or sympathy for the dead dog or the dog's owner. I would not recommend this veterinarian for any pet visit at home or any clinic or even for an euthanasia visit. Obviously, no love and no compassion toward the animals or the owners from this doctor and in fact it is very sad to see a vet handling a pet in this condition . read more

Dr. Araiza is a Saint. My dog started suffering on Easter morning of all days. We knew she was slowly dying but didn't think we would need to euthanize her on Easter. When I finally accepted the fact that my sweet old cat was too sick to go on, I just couldn't bring myself to take her to the vet since she always hated that so much. This review can go anywhere from 1 star to 3 stars. Dr. Carolyn Araiza has a wonderful bedside manner with the animals and is very friendly. However, I do not believe that she provided realistic information, based on education/experience and in turn supplies individuals with false hopes. - Provides unrealistic expectations - Pushes medications & takes them - Seems inexperienced to make accurate diagnosis Zoey is an 11 year old Bull-Mastiff that has been suffering from arthritis. When she was a pup, Petsmart Grooming dropped her with a leash hanging up high and caused neck/spinal muscle damage. She was a pup so she jumped right back. Last winter Zoey was limping on her front two legs. We assumed arthiritis due to age. When winter hit two weeks ago, she started her limping again and it got progressively worse to the point where she couldn't put any weight on them. It shocked us because all summer she was running around and managed well. We felt the need to call a mobile vet on Sunday to come to the house. My husband had spinal fusion and can not lift a non-moving limp 90 lbs dog to the car to go to the emergency. We called around and found she was available and had decent reviews. Our vet had already provided us meds but we ran out on Friday night and with the holiday they were closed. No choice, we had to look for a reasonable solution. Dr Carolyn Araiza arrive at our home around 3:30 on Sunday 11/29. She said in her expert opinion that Zoey had another year. She supplied us with numerous medication, herbal and prescription to treat her symptoms. Gave her a pain shot. All and all the bill was $707 and $487 was medications. She texted last night and asked how Zoey was doing and when we told her not moving, crying out in pain she said to increase the pain meds. The following day, Monday 11/30, we had to reach out to her again. Our options are limited due to physical in capabilities, that we did not have when we got Zoey as a pup. She came out to euthanize Zoey, charged another $425 and offered a credit of $81 for medications that were unused, but took ALL of the meds that we purchased. Just one day later after selling us $487 of medication, she is now stating nothing will help. She clearly has a lack of compassion and provides dog lovers false hopes. She removed all the medicine, that we paid for and provided less than a 20% credit. So in less than 24 hours she euthanized a dog that she said just the day prior had another year to live? I am sorry but I shouldn't have been charged for medications and she should have been honest with us from the beginning. Instead we had to pay all the money for two visit and medications she maliciously pushed. As a vet, she should have questioned the medications and only supplied a couple days/ weeks worth to see if helped. If in her true expert option the medications would help, then we understand why we received so much. But, we do not understand that within 24 hours her diagnosed changed so quickly. Nothing changed about Zoey's condition. On a side note, on Monday we reached out to 5 vets (including our own) who all said a dog in that condition can not get better and they were sorry. She only takes cash or check, so you have no recourse. Feeling deceived by this vet. read more

Dr. Araiza is beyond amazing! 5 stars does not do her justice! My little mouse has been very sick and I have been slowly giving up hope. I had called many vets in the Palo Alto/San Jose area but could find no one that would see mice. The only doctor I found that would was going to charge 75 dollars ( and we all know that mean they will spend 5 minutes with you and tell you that it will be another 300 dollars in tests). After receiving Dr. A's number, I called and left her a message to which she responded right back. She was able to give me great advice over the phone as to what natural things I could do for my little mouse to hold him over until his appointment the following day. When we met Dr. A she was so welcoming, warm, caring, and understanding. I can't begin to tell you how hopeless I felt but Dr. A was so reassuring that we would do everything we could do to get Mr. Whiskers well. She was so gentle with him and told us everything she did before she did it and explained how it would help him. She also gave us a detailed fact sheet with items to buy from Whole Foods that would also help our mouse. I felt so encouraged after our visit. She gave me the hope I had lost and showed me that Mr. Whiskers was still saying he wanted to be here! She told me that I would know when he is ready and that right now he is fighting. Oh, and did I mention she spent an HOUR with us. That's right!!! One hour! I really felt like she cared about getting our mouse healthy and time was no issue. Her prices are beyond reasonable, especially for such outstanding service! It is 65 dollars per visit and then 100 dollars for her to come to your home. Dr Araiza is truly a gem, and if you want the best care for your little pet then she is the lady to call! read more

We called Dr. Araiza to take care of a very sick dog. One of my very best friends has a Swiss Mountain Dog that probably weighs about 150lbs and he was VERY ill. My friend couldn't get her dog to the car and called me for help. I called my vet and they recommended Dr Araiza for house calls. She returned our phone call within minutes and rushed to the house. She arrived within 15 minutes and called once with instructions before she arrived. She has a great manner and made some great recommendations. Turns out that the dog needed to go to the "real" vet soon after for diagnosis of what he had needed vet office instruments. The doggie is OK (ended up having a spleen torsion and needed an operation), but the beginning of the tough journey was made better by this vet. read more

We love Dr. Araiza. She was recommended to us when our very demanding Siamese refused to get into a carrier and was terrified of the vet's office. She has never been anything but loving and compassionate with our kitties and with us. We have had everything from immunizations to sedation and IV's. The stress relief of not terrifying my lovely Lula and the ease of immunizing our new kittens Bonny and Clyde is worth every penny. My five-star review still stands. Dr. Araiza came to the rescue once again just over one week ago when our elderly kitty, Lola, began to show clear signs she'd suffered from an episode of some sort (we now believe she had a stroke). I made a very early morning phone call to her...one that wasn't easy to make as I had a pretty good idea what the likely outcome of the doctor's visit would mean for Lola. Dr. Araiza called me back promptly and arranged to come 30 minutes later. We made Lola as comfortable as we could, took the my two daughters in to say their goodbyes (never easy), and I took the kids to their second day of school. My mom and Dr. Araiza handled the tough stuff...without going into all the details, suffice it to say the doctor did a fantastic job in what was a very depressing situation for all involved. My mom, who has had the unlucky job of escorting many of our collective family pets to their next big adventure, said it was the most peaceful and gentle experience she's had (as far as those things go). Lola was at ease and purring up until the last moment. The doctor contacted me several hours after to say how sorry she was about Lola, how we'd definitely made the right choice, that there was nothing else we could have done for her. She was incredibly comforting and really helped to put me at ease. While it is NEVER easy to say goodbye to a beloved pet, having the option to do it in the comfort of your home and without forcing your furry companion to endure one last car ride to a place that, frankly, scares the hell out of them is a wonderful option indeed. And when/if the time comes, do yourself a favor and call Dr. Araiza...she'll help make a difficult situation that much more bearable for you and your pet. read more

If you love your pet, do NOT!! use Dr. Araiza for her euthanizing services. Our cat Tilt was a member of our family for 15 years and his final moments will haunt us for the rest of our lives. Tilt was diagnosed with cancer and we made the difficult decision to put him down; we unfortunately chose Dr. Araiza to euthanize him in what we hoped would be a peaceful and humane manner. As we were spending the last few moments with Tilt before his 1:30 appointment with Dr. Araiza, Dr. Araiza arrived at 1:15 to our home and abruptly began the process with a "tranquilizing shot" that suddenly rendered Tilt unconscious (his eyes bulged & tongue hung from his mouth). When asked what this shot did to Tilt she said it just mellowed him out. She then proceeded to prepare for the lethal injection which involved shaving his arm while he was in my boyfriends arms- only she couldn't succeed with that arm after pulling & pushing the needle in several times. She re-attempted by shaving & poking his second arm. She did not explain her actions nor provide comfort during this already difficult, and now traumatizing, time. After Tilt had passed, she instructed my boyfriend to carry his lifeless body to her car and call the cremation center himself to alert them of Tilt's passing. Dr. Araiza left us with patches of Tilt's hair on our furniture, a $525 bill, and a horrifying memory of Tilt's final moments. We would give anything to give Tilt a more peaceful passing than the disturbing death by Dr. Araiza. read more

I found Dr Araiza here on yelp. My "granddog" has been sick for the past month and I have been tarting him holistically but he stopped progressing so I knew I need to call in a vet. I called for an appointment on Monday morning and Dr Araiza was able to come out Monday afternoon. My granddog just thought someone was coming to visit him! No stress like a normal vet visit entitles! She got down on the floor to examine him and he loved her. We decided to take both a medicine and holistic approach and she was here for 45 minutes to a hour. I left Dr Araiza a tearful message this week, letting her know I was close to putting my kitty to sleep, but not quite ready and wanted it done at home. I couldn't get through the message without crying and asked her to call me. She promptly called me back and left a message for me. She said she was sorry to hear about my kitty and immediately went on to tell me, on voicemail, her fee for euthanasia, that it's more expensive for Mt View/Sunnyvale, that she doesn't take the remains unless I pay another $50 and on and on and on. I was shocked. Then at the end tells me I can call to schedule it and her hours. I was blown away that anyone could be so completely insensitive at such a difficult time. Show some compassion. Talking about fees and remains on my voicemail? Seriously??! I barely could even make the call. She painted herself as being concerned only about making a buck and not sensitive to me or the well being of my kitty. Truly shocked and saddened by the whole thing. read more

It was such a relief to not have to haul all the kitties into the vet and have a circus day with them in the crates and car! Carolyn is amazing. We use her for our cat who was adopted from the pound because she WILL NOT GET IN THE CARRIER. The first visit was tough, but Carolyn crawled up in my son's loft bed and laid down with our girl and just talked to her for about 15 minutes. Eventually Carrie the One-Eyed-Wonder Cat came to see her and let Carolyn examine her. We had to take Carrie to an eye specialist, but Carolyn was able to give Carrie a mani-pedi, an overall exam and simply make me feel better. I don't think her rates are unreasonable at all given the level of competence and compassion she exhibits not only to your pet but to the owners. And honestly, I'll be fine, I just want as little stress as possible for the pets. read more

Having her come out so can avoid the potential pathogens is great before your puppy has finished all of her vaccinations. You will of course pay for her to travel; I paid a $75 travel fee. After talking she told me that she is unable to do x-rays and she was certain that my dog would need one to diagnose.
