Based on Labor Day ads, we visited this location on Sept 6th. We were greeted and we asked about the Labor Day Sale. We were told we missed it. Undeterred, we browsed the carpet and countertop materials. We are excited we will be doing both 2,000 sq. ft of flooring AND a new 72' of kitchen countertop this fall. We gave all our information to Alex, took a carpet sample and were told Josh would contact us to come to our house and measure. We were a bit puzzled when we noticed the Labor Day Sale ad continued to run the rest of the week and all the next weekend. Monday came and Josh called. We went back and forth on a good date for him to come measure. We settled on Thursday afternoon, the 14th. On Wednesday the 13th, however, Josh called me while I was out of the house and said he was on his way. I told him our appointment was for the 14th and we were not home. He said he could not do the next day and I asked about Friday the 15th. He said he would have to call me back. On Friday, I missed a call from Alex, asking if we had heard from Josh. On Monday, I called Alex back and she was not in the showroom, so I left a message. I told the person that took my message that I would reach back out to Josh since he had not called me back. I called Josh and got his voicemail and left a message that I want to reschedule. Today is Thursday, Sept 21st and I have not heard from either Alex or Josh again. Sorry, Carpet Exchange, you have too much competition for me to chase you. We are moving on to another company that actually wants our business and can handle making a mere timely phone call. read more

This store is excellent. The employees are so friendly and helpful, the store itself is very clean and well laid-out, and the selection of flooring is phenomenal. They have everything from commercial carpet, residential carpet, area rugs, floor tile, wall tile, granite counter tops, quartz counter tops, hardwood, laminate, etc. You name it, they have it. And if you find something like an area rug you like, but don't see it in the size you want, they can special order it for you. Seriously the best flooring store around. I'll never go anywhere else. I recently had to replace carpet in the basement of a rental unit in Golden and Matt with Carpet Exchange made the entire process painless. We only have one rental in the golden area but were referred over by a different Carpet Exchange we usually do business with. I went in last Wednesday the 3rd of May and discussed what I was looking for. Matt came up with a solution that worked perfect and we set a delivery/installation date of Friday the 12th. That Sunday I went out and looked over everything and both myself and the tenant were very happy with the product and installation. Not sure what all the one Star reviews are about but Matt was 5 STARS ALL DAY! Ask for him and you will be glad you did. read more

Installation was a nightmare! Took multiple calls and 10 days just to get the person out to measure and then it took more calls and another 10 days for the install. Then they ran out of carpet during the install and the excuse was the measurements they did were wrong. The installer said someone would call us to schedule a date to come and finish. We never heard from them and after more than a week went into the store and they said they should not have told us we'd be called it was our role to call them. Then it took another 5 calls to set up the appointment to finish the job. The manager called after the review was posted and profusely apologized. He seemed genuinely concerned and interested in helping resolve and prevent the issues in the future. read more

This is not the typical flooring store, it is very clean and very well laid out actually a pleasant shopping experience, the sales people were so helpful. I stopped in by chance but it turned out that I found the perfect area rug for my house. The price was amazing, but now I want a new wood floor to put it on. The day of the installation the installers arrived at 11:15 am. half the day was gone. There was a big rip in the middle of the roll of carpet also from where ever they picked up the carpet about a foot of the roll was dragging off the back of the truck on the road to our house. The thing that infuriated me the most and made up My mind to ask for my money back was the right thing to do was the sales lady who's name starts with and A said to me very cavalier, " Well I guess in a perfect world these things don't happen." I orded carpet & tile from carpet exchange in Golden for one room a small job. tile was laid carpet installer was supposed to be here 5 days later between 8:30 ,& 10:30am they called @ 9 said they were on the way, they called back @ 10:30, they were lost I gave them directions & they never showed up at all! I waited all day.Called the store & it was rescheduled for today between 8:30 & 10:30 again no installers & no phone call. I called the store who had them call me & they said they would be here between 2 & 3 this afternoon! had to cancel plans again.Don't use them very unreliable I am furious read more

After talking with the manager - and over a week of work on this with my bank and Carpet Exchange - this has been resolved. I appreciate the manager being so kind and working on this for me. I had a terrible experience with both sales associates--Alan and a woman whose name I didn't catch. The woman rolled her eyes when I began to speak to her letting me know under no uncertain terms, I was bothering her. It was extremely rude. Alan was absolutely no help. He pointed to where I could look for tile but offered no advice. He pretended to act sincere when asked a question but his inflection reeked of phoniness. Reminded me of a very slick and insincere business man. I ordered and paid for some tile but decided not to take it. Under their policy, I wa allowed a full refund. However, they kept my money and didn't give me a full refund until over 30 days and numerous phone calls later. I refuse to do business with such a shady organization again. My advice...stay away. read more

I had problems as you can see from the first review. However the manager of installation came through - he came up to the house to see the issues, recognized the problems to date and sent a new crew the next day to complete the job. I would use them again as I felt like they really do want to do a good job and mine was a chance problem that they rectified. First review.... Dismal follow through. The carpet sales people are decent and you can take Home multiple samples to see them in different lighting. However, the install has been a disaster. Apparently, there's little, if any, communication between the store and the installers - My folks showed up and didn't have all the equipment to do the job, they had to go to Home Depot to get supplies ... while they left all my new carpet on the driveway....which when they finally brought it into the house had dried grass on it - makes one wonder where they rolled the original carpet to bring to the house..the installers were to use a z-bar but they have never done it before...so it's all an experiment on my $'s. When you call in to the installers to complain, you get a manager who just wants you off the line and will tell you any excuse to make it "better" which only makes it worse - it's like going to a nice restaurant and ordering a full course meal- the appetizer is great but then they serve you rattlesnake for the main course and tell you it tastes like chicken. Not at all what I was expected. read more

We cannot recommend a company who blames the customer for the sales rep miscalculations and oversights, who isn't honest about installation mistakes (puncturing the radiant heat tubing and then covering it up) and then ultimately denying financial responsibility for the mistake/ leak. Our sales rep was cordial in the beginning until the sale was made. Several promises he made were later denied that he ever said that and not kept. Prior to placing the order the 1st week of June, we were told the carpet would be installed and the project complete 2 weeks from the time of order. A series of snafu's then ensued. Carpet was back ordered with the installation date being pushed back 3 times. We had already moved our belongings out of the rooms. The amount of carpet needed for the job was under calculated and the binding for the wrapped steps was not done, so that delayed the remainder of the project until August with carpet tack strip exposed on our stairs and landings for a month. We, the purchasers were blamed for the miscalculations (were told by the sales rep that we didn't tell him about the wrapped stairs and landing) even though it was on the written work order. The carpet installers were friendly and generally did nice work, but not honest. On July 11th they punctured the radiant heating tubing, tried to patch it with silicone and cover it up. The same carpet installers returned on Aug 10th to finish the wrapped stairs and they had their 2nd chance to fess up to the mistake they covered up on July 11th. September 28th, the leak from the radiant heat puncture had saturated the floor above and ceiling below and came pouring out of the ceiling. A Catastrophe company was called and 4 rooms of our home were torn apart until the repair was complete at the end of October. On Dec. 13th we got notice that Carpet Exchange denied responsibility for this, so we are out our deductible, which essentially results in our carpet costing us an additional $1000 plus months of disruption to our household and problems with the entire process! We would never recommend a company with practices such as this! At least be honest, admit to and take responsibility for your mistakes! read more

Ordered, and paid for, 22 boxes of tile on 24 January. I was told the tile would be ready the next Thursday. On that day, I called to check, and was told that 6 boxes were broken. I elected to wait another week to get the whole order at once. The next Thursday, my salesperson, Alex, told me the tile was at a warehouse in Denver. I asked for it to be delivered to the Golden store, as that had always been my understanding of where I would get the tile. Alex said yes, but told me it would be another week. My contractor would start tiling the next Friday, so it was ok. I agreed. The next Thursday, I called the store, and was told, "your tile is ready at our warehouse in Denver." When I spoke to my salesperson, Alex, she said, "we're just a showroom, we can't have it delivered here." I attempted to cancel the order, as they had not met their agreement. The manager, Todd, talked me out of cancelling, assured me the whole order would be put together (the original 16 boxes and the 6 replacements for the broken boxes) and ready first thing on Saturday for pickup at the warehouse. I needed the tile, so I agreed. Saturday, I picked up the wrapped pallet at the warehouse. I was assured it was the whole order. When it was unwrapped at my home, by my contractor and myself, it was 16 boxes, and 3 were broken. I called Alex, who said, "Well, you should have counted at the warehouse." The manager, Todd, agreed to have the six, plus replacements for the three broken, delivered to my house the following Friday. I agreed, and my contractor installed the 13 boxes worth. Thursday night, the store called to confirm Friday delivery between 830 and 1230 on Friday. At 1230 on Friday, I called Alex. She a) denied anyone had called for the delivery, b) denied it had ever been scheduled for Friday, c) told me it would be Tuesday. There were no other options offered. Tuesday, at 9, I called to confirm delivery. They could not confirm I would receive the tile. Todd took offense that I was angry, and said, "you don't understand how these things work." He told me he would call back in 5 minutes to confirm that day's delivery. 15 minutes later, I called back, and he told me that it would be delivered that day. He also said that the whole issue was Alex's fault. He acknowledged that he had promised a Friday delivery, and it had not only failed, but I had waited for a delivery that wouldn't happen, but again said it was Alex's fault for not calling me. In sum: Ordered 24th January, with scheduled pickup in Golden on 31 January. Finally received the complete order on 1 March. The cost to me has been that my contractor has moved to his next job, so my job will be complete as he has time between jobs. Painting, installation of a new gas stove heater, and use of the renovated rooms has been delayed for weeks. Update: The management responded to this, and claimed to offer compensation. That's sort of true. They offered me a discount on future orders. Given that they lied to me (not made a mistake, but lied) on multiple occasions, offer of a future discount is not compensation. read more

I bought carpet from this store and worked with Alex. Not a problem with Alex, as everything went smooth with measuring, etc. That's the only reason for one star. Call to store and spoke with the manager day before carpet to be installed. One of the rudest managers. First thing he said is: I see you owe the other half for the carpet. I told him I prefer to pay last half after carpet installed and job is finished. He said: I guess you won't be getting your carpet. I said fine and paid. When I asked what time the installers would be arriving the next day, he said: if you would have waited you would have received a phone call. I can go on and on about this manager. Also, the installers weren't the best and I am not happy with the installation. I have written a letter to the corporate office with no response and no call back. Worst customer service I've ever experiences. I walked in when they opened at 9:00 - I was the only customer. Todd (the store manager) "helped' me by pointing me to a display. When I asked questions, he said "The information is on the display I showed you." He was not willing to educated me further. When I asked about additional materials, he said "You don't need that". He was condescending and rude. It was the most negative retail experience I've ever encountered. So much so, that I took the time to send and email to someone I thought was his superior (Evelyn). 7 days later, no response. I was ready to spend $5000 plus for materials, but now I'll go elsewhere. Corporate should revamp their Sales Training for this store. Avoid if at all possible. read more

We recently had our carpets replaced in 3 rooms, hallways, and a set of stairs in our townhome. We researched options from multiple companies, and decided to go with Carpet Exchange because they had the best low VOC option that was surprisingly low cost. We visited the showroom multiple times and held on to their samples for a few weeks. Alexandra S. was extremely patient with all of our questions and extremely knowledgeable. We were able to schedule the replacement within a few weeks after deciding on a color and brand. Despite providing an arrival window of ~8:30 am to 10:30 am, the installers arrived promptly around 8:45 am and called to provide a 30 minute notification. Their team of 3 or 4 people completed installation before noon. The carpets looked great! I see absolutely no seams, and the carpet rests beautifully against the baseboard. Furthermore, they left my place extremely clean -- no dust from the installation. I couldn't be more pleased with the process. read more

Although I'm not updating the rating, I do want to update the YELP community. Evelyn B. with Carpet Exchange got involved more recently in my case. I was at the point of actually filing a lawsuit, and had sent a demand letter to the company's registered agent as well as the president. The very day that I sent those documents over though, the corporation had already made the decision to refund my money and Evelyn had left me a voicemail. In following up with her, it was clear that they were apologetic for the treatment I received at the store level and that it was unfortunate it needed to go this far. They did want to continue a third installation, but in light of my requests for a refund they agreed to refund me in full for the laminate in my kitchen. I am satisfied with this outcome, but will not recommend this company still. read more

Don't use this store. Sales people are awful and rude. All they are about is a sale. Once they get that, they don't care what happens. I have never dealt with such greedy and inconsiderate people. And that includes Todd, who someone here said was so wonderful. But Matt is even worse. They went back on promises made to me; blamed me for problems not picked up by the initial person who came out to give an estimate; then what was supposed to be a one day install lasted for weeks including I even had to leave my house for a night because of the mess they made. I should have read these reviews before I had them do our floor! Apparently the sales office and the install office are two very separate departments. Once you buy from them, the sales people don't really want to hear from you anymore. Where to start ... what was supposed to be a one day install is now over a week and still not done. I even had to move out of the house overnight. After the old tile and carpet were pulled up, the installers informed us they had to level the floor (to the tune of $1800 for less than 300 sq ft). Highway robbery (they spent less than 5 man-hours on it). The Carpet Exchange sales manager did make a very nice gesture to offer to pay for half, given the situation. After talking to others who had experience with the cost of leveling, I countered with paying $700 and he agreed. I had to leave the house while the cement dried as there was no way I could get out with the dog. Installers also ripped out all the baseboards and told me I had to buy all new ones. And I had to paint them. Some BS about how the baseboards were installed incorrectly. I told the installers, my sales rep, and the sales manager this was BS - that those baseboards had been installed at three different times by three different contractors and I could not imagine all three "did it wrong." The sales rep did agree to pay me for the new baseboards (but not for my time painting), but none of them would acknowledge there was anything wrong with this situation. In fact, the sales rep said to me at one point, "Well, I hate to say this, but it just is common sense that things happen with an install." Insinuating I should have expected all of this. I told him what I expected was that the person who came out to do the estimate would know enough to check for the leveling, or at the very least, to tell customers that this is a possibility. I had no idea to expect anything other than a one day install, as promised. After the leveling was done (this was now three days later), the installers could not return for several more days as they had other jobs. And this was our entryway, dinning room, and hallway. I had to cancel appointments and people coming to our house. At one point, they promised to be back at 2 pm and never showed or called. We took off work to be there. I contacted the Golden sales office at out 4:00 to find out where they were. The manager tried to call someone then just left me a message saying there was nothing more he could do. I find that very upsetting that they have no idea how to get a hold of their installers. The floor finally got laid (a week later), but the installers did not have the tools necessary to pull the carpet and set the transition from the flooring to other rooms with carpet. They also did not have the transition pieces needed to go from the new flooring to tile (in the kitchen). And no idea when they will have that. I went in to speak with the sales manager today. He just stared at me when I told him about the difficulty with the installers. I don't think he cared. Bottom line is I do feel the sales office stepped up as far as pricing to make this right, but their callous attitude about everything we have gone through with the installers is unbelievable. They made me feel like I was an idiot. (PS, the two guys that actually did the work were great ... it was their supervisor and whoever that company is - subcontractor - that Carpet Exchange needs to get rid of). read more
