We've been very patient and given them WEEKS, if not months to remedy our stairs or even just give a call back. The installers decided to put a bunch of random nail holes to secure the LVP on the stairs and then covered it with wood filler. So brand new LVP on our stairs looks chipped like we didn't just pay thousands of dollars. We have left over flooring for them to fix it but they've ghosted us and now I truly don't trust them at all. It takes a special sort of lack of integrity to tell someone "at least we're not avoiding your phone calls or anything" prior to avoiding someone's phone calls for better than a month. Since July, I've been looking for straight answers on a flooring product that is warranted (verified with the manufacturer directly) but hasn't yet been submitted to them for a claim by the seller/installer (also verified). The reps here get awfully emotional about something as simple as a failed floor. I brought my business here for 20 years, and it was always a high-integrity outfit. Sadly, it seems, the original owner sold. The new owner of Carpet's Plus will brag to you on the phone about how many millions of dollars of product he moves from big named flooring companies, but can't stand behind a 211 square foot failure that looks like it was caused by the resident being wheelchair bound, not a one-time leaky dishwasher event, according to three different professionals I had take a look. Not sure I'll ever get the call-back I've been promised, or that they'll ever submit for the warranty coverage, as requested, but I figured maybe letting other people know about the issue will get some attention. As a Senior Citizen who has lived in my home for 40 years, I was overwhelmed when I discovered a broken ice maker line that had soaked not only my kitchen floor and wall, but seeped through the wall to the adjoining dining area and hallway. After I repaired the broken line, I was worried about the possibility of mold and didn't know who to turn to. I've worked with Carpets Plus several times over the years and been pleased with their employees and products. I discovered that it is now Flooring Buyer, but offers the same excellent products and service. Gustavo Vasquez guided me through the various flooring choices and visited my home to assess the damage there. He pulled up some of the affected carpeting (still damp) and encouraged me to have someone open the wall to check for mold and other damage. Gustavo then arranged to have the effected flooring and baseboards replaced as soon as the materials were available. The tear out and installation was done with the professionalism I've come to expect from this company. When I found that I couldn't complete some of the remaining finish work, Gustavo spent 2 hours doing the work himself and made appropriate recommendations for care products. *** I have never been treated so badly **** I bought hard surface for the entire house back in May this year. The interaction was fine at first, but fell apart at the end. After the floors were installed, I found several small problems. I texted the owner Terry, left messages, and emailed the staff. There were no answers for weeks. By then I was already feeling frustrated and ignored. I was starting to think that they don't want to take care them. I was even planning on finding an outside contractor and take care of them myself. Weeks later, I finally got some help. They came by, fixed two of the problems, but missed one. So I brought it up to Terry that there is still one big hole in the stairs. I explained that the problem was not new. It had been reported several weeks ago. I felt the need to emphasize that because I don't want him to think I'm finding a new excuse to delay payment Guess what happened next: Terry went full hostile, called me on the phone, yelled at me from the top of his lungs for 30 seconds, and hung up This is not an isolated instance. If you look at other 1-star reviews on Yelp and Google, you will find similar pattern of behavior. This may even be a strategy for unwanted tasks: Deter the customer with hostility. So she will never ask for more assistance. Out of sight. Out of mind. I'm sharing my story, because I hope you would be mindful of the service that comes with the installation. After-sale service is important too. What if the floor breaks several years later? Would you allow someone hostile in your home to repair it? I had planned on giving this company an excellent review based on how the beginning of the job went, but it fell apart in the end. I called and their estimator Matt, came the same day to measure my living room as he was in my neighborhood. I came into the show room and chose the carpet and they gave me a very good price. Melissa, the manager and Matt were very friendly and helpful on the phone several times. We scheduled our job, but I wasn't able to keep the initial install date in October 2021. This was due to my cat peeing on the previous carpet that had soaked into our concrete foundation. When I realized I needed further sealing on our walls behind the baseboard, I called and postponed the appointment. I had painted the floor and sealed everything, but odor was still coming from somewhere. Understandably I wouldn't want the carpet installed until I could get the odor out. The job was scheduled for a Thursday in October 2021and I called on Tuesday afternoon and left them a message explaining the situation and that I needed a few more days to get the odor out. They eventually rescheduled me for November 2021, but it took many phone calls to get this date. They were trying to find someone who could install baseboard for me. I understood this delay, but would've appreciated more prompt return phone calls with an update. I had to hound them and had a hard time getting someone to call me back to reschedule my installation. In November a very nice man came and did a great job installing the baseboard and the carpet. The only problem was he forgot to haul away the old carpet, carpet pad and baseboards! When I noticed this later that day I called and left a message right away as I didn't have the installer's cell number. They told me they weren't sure when they could have someone come back. No joke, after 7 (I counted) phone calls and reminders I was ready to give up. I finally got a hold of Matt who seemed very annoyed that I kept asking for my trash pile to be hauled away. I had paid for the job IN FULL including the CARE state fee that is a fee that is charged for dumping. Matt became very unprofessional with me on the phone, raising his voice and even told me I was at fault because I should've reminded the installer to haul away the old materials! The installer must have passed by this pile 10 times in that day. Why should I have to remind him to do his job? To add insult to injury, Matt said I canceled the first appointment at the last minute and his guys didn't get paid that day. I had canceled in due time for him to fill my slot. If they were as busy as they said they were, I don't think that my 1 1/2 day advanced notice was a last-minute cancellation. Matt also explained that if they sent someone to pick up the trash they would not make money on my job. Isn't that the way of business though, you win some and you lose some? I think that was very unprofessional to tell that to a customer in the first place. They were clearly in the wrong and didn't make good on finishing the job! So the pile sat outside my sliding glass door adjacent to my living room for two months. All through the holidays we had to look at this pile right next to where our Christmas tree goes. Melissa, the manager did call me one day in the meantime saying she had someone in the area to pick it up. I told her we were not going to be home for 45 minutes to unlock the gate. I explained that we were having a pool installed and the man could easily go through our access area and pick up the pile as it was in our covered patio. I did tell her it could be a little muddy, but he shouldn't have a problem. She said the man could be here in 10 minutes. I really wish I had more notice than 10 minutes! Apparently he didn't want to go through the access area and get mud on his shoes, so he didn't come. I waited weeks longer to see if they would call me to come pick up the trash, but I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN! I had to hire a junk hauler to haul away this pile after not hearing from them and many, many reminders. I even had them put a note on the managers desk several times. Finally we had it all hauled away for a fee in January. So not only did I pay Carpets Plus the CARE fee, but I had to pay for a junk service to haul away what Carpets Plus should have done! All in all, I am happy with my carpet and the baseboards that the installer put in. I had wanted to do further business with Carpets Plus as we need more flooring installed in our house, but I wouldn't consider it now after the way I was treated. In addition, I am an interior designer/home stager and was looking forward to hiring them on several jobs in the future. I am chalking this up to getting a very good price, but sub par service. Disclaimer: UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT My boyfriend and I went to Carpets Plus to replace the carpet in our home for laminate flooring. We met Gary, the previous owner, who was very accommodating and came to our house on 3 different occasions to give us a quote. We went ahead and signed the contract. We had our floors installed over a 3 day period by a crew of 3 men. We opted to pay for them to move large furniture, we were responsible for moving all small items out of the way. We didn't leave a lot of furniture for them to move, but they managed to damage almost everything they did move. There was a 1ft. tear on our master bedroom sheet. We had to go buy new sheets to sleep on! Several 6 inch gashes into our wood shelf, the shelf is now damaged and we had to get rid of it. Multiple dings on the walls which we just had painted. Our painter had to go back and do touch-ups for us and painted over the spots. I could go on, but I think I made my point. We had tried contacting Gary via text and calling him leaving him multiple voicemails to get back to us regarding payment but didn't get any response. The new owner, Terry, calls my boyfriend claiming we made no attempt to contact him and essentially accusing us of trying to get out of paying. He became very hostile on the phone when it was explained to him that we have been trying to get in contact with Gary, the only person we've had to deal with this entire time. How were we to know that they changed management? We had taken pictures of all the damages, and just asked that we were not charged the furniture fee which was approximately $400 given the damages and expenses. We were spending over $6k for the flooring so we did not think it was too much to ask for. In store, the pictures were shown to Terry, and he claims they are just pictures they don't prove anything, accusing we made them up, and became very hostile again towards my boyfriend, yelling at him in the store with other customers around. Due to a plumbing issue in our house we had to have virtually all of the flooring in our home replaced - Terry to the rescue!!!! Terry met with us in our home one evening for almost three hours making sure he got every measurement perfect so he could give us some expert advice! What I liked most about Terry was his professionalism and honesty - he didn't try to "up sale" us or tell us we needed extra things. He gave us a fair price and a truthful timeline for how long the job would take from start to finish and he finished exactly when he said he would! The installers were amazing, too. It has been two years; I decided they deserve my review. If you are a straightforward type, you will appreciate this store. Privately owned; just one or two people running the store on any given day. We went to all the big carpet stores, but we felt that Steve was the most trustworthy; he's been selling carpet for decades. He wasn't in a hurry to sell us anything. In fact, we didn't get our laminate here, but we came back for carpet because of Steve and his reserved, but honest demeanor. He gave us space and patiently listened to what my wife had to say and gave her feedback as she scoured the store. We came in a couple of times before we nailed it. He was open about his profit and his bottom line and two years later I still think it was a good deal and maybe the best sales experience I have had. This is the 2nd time we have used this company, 22 years ago was the first, and now during probably the worst time to do a project 2022. I first (on both occasions) went to a competitor and did not find what I wanted so visited Carpets Plus on Gold Pan Court (Rancho Cordova), and found exactly what I wanted! I like the show room and their selection, like I said the first time I was looking for a Sea Foam Green carpet, they had it! This time around we went with a more muted, but we also needed a vinyl flooring that was not wood-looking as we have a lot of wood accents in our house, found it! LVP is Paragon Tile Plus, Clay and the carpet Mohawk, Ancient Treasure. The staff here is great, Matthew figured everything out and was always positive, Melissa made it happen and Chris, with the Vinyl (a mastermind), Tim (I hope this is right as it's been a few weeks!) & George are the carpet experts, Berber layers are apparently a dying breed so choose carefully. During this time of delays and hard to get products we did not have long to wait and all was worth it, we love our new flooring, thank you for being great! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER... I held off writting this review; however it would be wrong not to share. Frankly, we should have paid attention to the less than positive or neutral reviews! Our rush to complete a project, became a major lesson learned. We were in the middle of a large re-flooring project. After having worked with a well known business, we switched to Carpets Plus to finish our wood flooring and remaining carpet project. We were assured matching the previously installed carpet would not be an issue and the owner personally, came to our home with a sample book to help with the match; he measured and gathered a carpet sample. Long painful story shorten - we received the WRONG COLOR !!! To boot, Installers were sent to our home and went about installing the incorrect color. When we brought this to the owners attention, he stopped by, confirmed the carpet was incorrect and stated the error would be taken care of. The following day is when our 60 day ordeal began. The owner took no accountability, was rude (yelled at the TOP of his voice; hung up the phone more than once ) - just out right hostile. In a nutshell - A controllable & fixable issue; got completely out of control. When we did not receive word as to when the work would be corrected; we reached out asking the owner for status. The response received ... ("If you send me one more text, email or phone call like you are put out, inconvenienced, or putting me or my company down I WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU ON GETTING YOUR CARPET REPLACED !!!!). Just one example of how difficult it was to communicate, let alone conduct reasonable business. Last but most importantly, there was (ZERO) focus on customer service or satisfaction. In the end--- Mohawk (the manufacture) did the right thing; we were treated like valued customers; felt supported through the process and they honored their customer satisfaction guarantee by replacing the carpet. As mentioned earlier "major" lesson learned! Since we lost complete trust in anything the owner said, we decided to hire an independant installer to complete the correction. read more

Excellent experience! We purchased our house 2 years ago. We have made various upgrades as time and money permits. Well we decided to go with laminate and did price comparisons with a large business (let's call the "joes") and Carpet Plus. To remove tile/carpet and install laminate for approx 710 sq ft was over $1,000 difference in price-Carpet plus the better deal. Gary was great. He personally came to the house, took the measurements, gave us an exact quote. He had nice variety in his selection of laminates too. His team of guys were very professional, did the job in what was supposed to be 3 days in 1.5 days. The flooring looks amazing and we've had a ton of compliments so far, people wanting to know what company we went with! Gary came out after the job was complete too. If I can give negative stars I would. The sales guy Ben was great work looked good but left mess and either stole all of my tools out of the home; or att at fault do to leaving the back door unlocked. This was a home purchased for my grandfather that I was fixing up for him to move in. They were aware that I wasn't planning on coming back and never called me to ask if I was coming back I prepaid for the work being done so didn't have any need to come back. Needless to say a $1000 carpet job ended up costing me $3000 in tool expense loss. The owner Terry claims they aren't at fault and is not willing to work with me on replacing any tools or refunding any amount. Horrible communication and horrible ownership. I am in construction and would've ended up using this company for every home I worked on if they would've just made things right. DO NOT GO HERE! Run away! read more

I have to say, reading some of these weird reviews, makes me feel like I'm either writing about a completely different company, or there's a ton of just crazy people out there. We did our homework, researched flooring, got lots of flooring samples, and checked out several flooring companies. A friend referred us to Terry, the owner at Carpets Plus, and once we met him, we knew he was the right contractor for us. The showroom is packed FULL of amazing samples and carpets, and everyone was really helpful. Ben was great, and Melissa offered top notch customer service. She's a trooper, and even delivered and carried in 16ft long baseboard like it was nothing! Terry is the most honest contractor we've had the pleasure of working with, and gave us so many great suggestions. And here's the thing about Terry...he doesn't care how much or how little you spend. He just wants you to have what YOU want, and for you to be a happy customer. There's no pressure, no upselling, and no BS. We purchased new luxury vinyl flooring for all but 2 rooms in our house, it was installed within 2 weeks of ordering, and what we thought was going to take 3 days to install, only took 2, and that was with all new baseboard in every room of the house as well. The installers were awesome! They were polite, and kind and funny, and so considerate of our indoor kitties. We had a couple super minor issues with the baseboard, but Terry was quick to respond.
