If you're looking for a quick vacation out of this city, this is the place, so easy to get to, the town has wonderful restaurants/bars and the beach was beautiful (even if it was too cold to hang out). Joe and Kelsey are amazing hosts and very responsive to texts/questions. All the staff is great. There is a beautiful rooftop deck that we enjoyed at night after dinner. Great for socializing. There is also a room with a couch on the 4th floor for gatherings/gaming systems for young kids. Breakfast every morning was delicious!!! Each morning there was a specialty option, as well as eggs and bacon plus homemade breads and muffins. My mouth is watering just thinking about the delicious egg sandwich Joe made. You can get a beach pass through them ($8 daily), which is $2 cheaper than purchasing at the beach entrance. The inn is a quick walk to the beach, it's in a perfect location. The inn is also not a far walk to Asbury Park (leisurely walk took us about 20 minutes). With traveling with a young baby and all the beach stuff they need, having a room on the 4th floor could have been a little complicated, but luckily, we had a parking spot right out in front to pack away our stuff each day. Liz wants us not to believe our eyes rather what she tells us is true. Lastly , it should be down by any guess that during the months of the winter , the becomes a property that caters to some of society's lets say most challenged people. It is impossible that\nWith eight months out of the year being populated by this type of clientele that the property is not badly affected by that. It's incongruous, and I felt like rushing into a bathroom to put on a designer suit and a shirt with cufflinks. The omnipresent T-shirt and shorts of Asbury Park seemed out of place, but that's the uniform on the Shore, and the Ocean Club was no exception. A piano man was singing in the second-floor lounge, and his lovely voice and keyboard playing filled the elegant wood-lined rooms. He was fantastic, as was the interior of this zen hotel. It was the epitome of modern luxury, and the expansive space had the perfect lighting, transporting the patrons to a world of peace and relaxation. The Jersey Shore was in a different hemisphere. Well, until we encountered the lackadaisical service, which would be more appropriate at one of the tiki bars on the beach. I literally had to search them down to get our drinks and to retrieve our check. The prices were quite reasonable for this kind of place.

Splinter HELL, I hope you don't want ice…read more This hotel was fantastic at first, especially the corner pool terrace suite. Easy access to the pool, large and lots of light. But my god, it is splinter hell. Us, along with 3 other families that we knew of, were realizing at the pool that us and our kid's feet were completely full of splinters. We spent a total of about 3 hours at the pool over 2 days and my four year old had over 50 splinters in each foot! I had about 10 and spouse a few less. My four year old will not even let me look at his foot, nevertheless remove the splinters - yeah right. I think we are going to need to get sedated. This has ruined the stay to be honest. The hotel also didn't have tweezers. At least two families complained and nothing seemed to be done about it. The deck is extremely dry. This wouldn't be a hard problem to solve. ICE. I requested ice about 20 different ways, because there is no ice machine so they say just request it: - through the app on their tablet (3x, nothing) - through calling the front desk (2x, nothing) - in person at the front desk (2x, nothing) - through text to the front desk (4x, nothing) - in person to the person that came to the room one night (2x, 1x worked!) I got ice once, woohoooooo! The tablet is a joke. I needed an extra bedsheet and requested it through the tablet and it never came. In person at the front desk it did, however. Beautiful hotel, but the splinters ruined it. You could not pay ME to stay somewhere that my autistic kid gets 100 splinters in his feet. The hotel is feeling a bit neglected in some ways. Our "terrace" had algae on the deck area, one couch cushion had a big brown spot and there was half of a DEAD BIRD on our terrace. It was there the whole time. Of course my 4 year old was enthralled.Yay.

Well, when we got to our room (16) it felt as though it had not been cleaned for awhile, never mind this thorough cleaning we were being sold. The ceiling fan had a layer of blade dust and the sheet had a spot of blood. Dresser drawers had not been wiped clean and had a broken light switch in one. The overall outside of the building was breaking down and all of the outdoor furniture had stains and burn holes. The best part of our stay was our room had a balcony. Once we cleaned the outdoor furniture we were able to enjoy the outside area. Hope they will return this once OG gem back to the clean, well kept inn we once enjoyed.

The inn is clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. The breakfasts were excellent and one of the many things that made staying here such a great experience. The location is also hard to beat-- a 2 block walk to the beach and a short drive to Main Street, making it easy to enjoy everything Belmar has to offer. What stood out most to me was the hospitality. Staying somewhere for nearly a month gives you a much different perspective than a quick weekend trip, and throughout my entire stay Bill and Linda consistently made me feel welcome and appreciated. Thank you both for making my extended stay feel like home. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend the Inn at the Shore to anyone visiting the area. 10/10.

We wanted something to pick on since all the drinking & got some chips & guacamole not bad. This is a nice area, decent music in the background it wasn't anything crazy like that more of a laid back vibe I would say mainly to just chill & enjoy the pool. I had such a bad reaction to our room I slept the last 3 nights wearing a mask. Being in the room made my eyes red and burn, shortness of breath/wheezing- symptoms would lessen as soon as I got fresh air. Eww. Just allergic to all the dander and filth. Developed & left with the worst sinus infection I've ever had. And with all my cleanliness concerns, we were googling legionnaires symptoms. Not being dramatic- it was really bothersome and worrying to feel so awful IN a hotel room. We were out of our room daily by 10:30 am (do not disturb sign NOT up) and we didn't get our room remade 2 of the days. I had to call down for clean towels once we returned from the beach. BUT! We did arrange (& agree to additional charge) for late checkout and KNOCK KNOCK (do not disturb UP!!) housekeeping at our door on checkout day as we are packing- ready to flip our room! Annoying. Additionally, the pool was disgusting. The adults never went in but it's hard to keep kids out. You couldn't see the bottom it was so cloudy- We were worried about them dunking their faces under. Especially after watching a late night adults only pool party following a sweaty group tournament in the park. Gross. The pool was cleaned once during our stay, with a robot vacuum. BEFORE that party. That water needed TREATMENT. Stick to the ocean. Valet is only parking option and you wait an insane amount of time for the attendant- when you can see your car parked right out front. Please give us our keys! At that point you're not providing a service. We are going to be late for our reservations and you're wasting our vacation time. At $50/night for that, you're just taking advantage in a seemingly not very busy part of town. There is no access to ice, so to fill your water bottles etc, you need to ask the cafe in lobby. During busy coffee mornings, the barista was not thrilled to be dealing with this and we were not thrilled to wait over a half hour for a cup of ice. Understaffed- needs more than one overwhelmed person. We had SO SO much fun enjoying the beach & boardwalk. Really wish this hotel was a dream and we "found our new place" but absolutely wouldn't stay here again. We would have left after 1st night, if we didn't need to be here for the family thing. We were shocked how well reviewed it is. There are so many options along the shore. **wait! I just remembered- one morning there was a siren/alarm going off for nearly 15 minutes and the manager came over the loudspeaker in our room (yup, that's right- intercom loudspeaker) and said repeatedly that there was no emergency. Extremely loud, for a really long time. Mmmmkay.

We checked in at 4:15 with Kathy and she explained the layout of the land and how everything worked. She told us breakfast was from 8-10am and asked if we needed restaurant recommendations (which was nice) but we already had reservations somewhere. We stayed in room 15, which was very cute. The decor was lovely and the bathroom was a great size (with a powerful shower!). After dinner we came back to our room to just relax and watch some TV. The bed was comfy enough, a bit hard for me, but that's just my preference as my husband slept soundly. You can hear some of the other tenants as I heard someone snoring all night long, and then a woman on the phone in the morning. The breakfast was delicious, maybe a tad limited, but a lot of it is homemade (by Kathy!) like the french toast bake and a waffle egg with everything bagel seasoning (go for that!). Overall, my husband and I had a lovely stay and would recommend the Carriage House to anyone!
