This was my first visit to Carrollton Modern Dentistry. I was very impressed with their office and staff. There was a family-type atmosphere about the office made me feel comfortable. The care I received from x-rays, to cleaning, to a small composite filling was excellent. The review of suggested treatment and the costs associated with each part was explained well including insurance estimates and out-of-pocket. I never felt pressured to get all the work done. Their cost was $150 less for a deep cleaning that I received one year ago at a different office. I highly recommend Dr. Seager and her staff. read more

I had been a patient at this office for several years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. During a prior cleaning/checkup, I raised concerns about a specific tooth with an existing filling and was told there were no concerns at that time. At my most recent visit, I was informed there was now significant decay underneath the filling requiring a much more expensive inlay procedure. When I later requested prior imaging of the area for comparison, I learned the prior visit did not include clear imaging of that specific tooth, which added to my frustration and confusion regarding the progression of the issue. I would think if a tooth already has a filling, there would be due diligence to monitor it appropriately. What was most disappointing, however, was the handling afterward. Management initially acknowledged the concerns, offered to assist with the treatment cost, and rescheduled my appointment for the next day, only for the appointment to later be canceled via email just a few hours beforehand with no call. After several days without communication, I was ultimately told to establish care with a different office, and the previously discussed treatment accommodation ultimately was not honored. I understand dental conditions can progress and treatment recommendations can change. However, I believe more thorough imaging, documentation, and earlier evaluation of the tooth could have provided greater clarity before recommending a significantly more invasive and expensive procedure. The communication and overall handling of the situation by management also fell far below what I expected as a long-term patient. This experience has ultimately left me feeling uncomfortable continuing care with this office and company as a whole. read more

Epitome of service, From checkin, the receptionist and the Dr, actually came out to introduced herself. Very personable and professional. The X Ray tech introduced himself, explained the process, again professional and personable. I was anxious about the examination again the Doctor put me at ease and explained every issue plus suggested ways to fix or improve my teeth. Cant say enough about the dental Hygienist vey personal, professional and gentle. Showed genuine concern for my comfort, The assistant that processed my paper work explained the bill and the billing process. I had a cleaning done elsewhere and was told I needed to see an endodontist. I researched on my insurance provider's website and found Carrollton Modern Dentistry to be in-network and offering endodontist work. I called the office and asked to verify my insurance and was told all was good. Since I had my cleaning done at a different place, I had to first come in for a consultation/xrays, and then later had a separate appointment with the endodontist. The first consultation was charged in network, but today I've received my insurance claim info for the appointment with the endodontist, and he was out of network. I probably should've been suspicious when they told me that the endodontist was only in twice a month due to being a traveling specialist. But still, it's disheartening to find that the service was out of network when I specifically asked them to check my insurance. read more

I went in for a normal cleaning and check up. This is my first time using this dentist as we had just moved. They took 20 minutes on a x-rays and photos. The tech did not seem like she knew what she was doing. They took me to the main room and I waited for the doctor to come in. The doctor informed me that since I had not been to the dentist in eight months that she would have to do a deep cleaning and it would cost over $250. I refused to pay the $250 and asked for a normal cleaning.They refused to give me service so I left and will go to a dentist who does not try to get extra money out of you. read more

After the x-Ray, I was asked to do something I have never heard of and also was asked to pay out of my own pocket after the insurance.... I have been going to this place for years, and through the years it has been a revolving door on Dentists. It has been 2 months sunce the over charged me for a service and taking tooth and nails for the to re-credit my account. They will gladly take your money but if they over charge you; good luck in getting it back. Time to look for a new. read more

I have been having my teeth cleaned at least twice a year for many years, without any extra stuff needed but this time I got a high pressure sales pitch to get all kinds of deep cleaning, and crowns, and other things plus some kind of maintenance plan. it would have been about $1,200 out of pocket after my insurance! I am not a patient here but I had to "deal" with this office last week. We had been calling to get my husband in for a tooth extraction for quite some time. Each time he calls, they have to call him back to schedule and a month later no response. I've watched him call time and time again, leave messages and they never return a phone call. After being told an outrageous amount for a tooth extraction.... He finally got scheduled for an extraction (which they pulled while it was still infected), and they prescribed him a controlled pain medicine incorrectly. We were told by a pharmacist they wrote the prescription incorrectly and by law the quantity had to be spelled out (not "30" - it has to read "thirty"). So I took it back up to the dentist office and they told me the pharmacist was wrong because they do it that way all the time. BUT she agreed with me that the quantity had to be spelled out. So we had to wait 2 days to get an answer and take more time out of our schedule to get this corrected. She had no answer as to why they didn't spell out the prescription, just laughed and said I will have the doctor correct this. Two days ago he called to get an antibiotic for his upset stomach/vomiting from the pain medicine and they have not called him back. It seems that his health is not an issue for this dentist office. I don't recommend anyone using this office. We will be finding a better office and reporting this to our insurance. read more

1 star because I was Forced to Discontinue my orthodontist treatment prematurely due to the Dr quitting abruptly. The office Did not facilitate a transfer to a sister office, which is ridiculous. They said I would have to find another Orthodontist on my own and pay for the transfer fees. When you pay $3700 for braces, You expect better service. read more

I do not recommend anyone to go here please read my whole review I am writing this so no one EVER goes through this ever in their life. I started going here to get my teeth checked and cleaned every 6 months. I wanted to get my permanent retainer removed and look into braces/invisalign because i had broken my top retainer years ago and just wanted a nice smile. They kept suggesting that I get my wisdom teeth removed but I never looked into it because they never bothered me. Within that time I would get so many calls sometimes even twice a day to schedule to get my wisdom teeth removed. They wanted to get them removed before they proceeded with the vision I had in removing my retainer because they stated within time my teeth could possibly shift which made sense to me even though I never had an issue with my wisdom teeth. I went ahead and scheduled the appointment. Before then they told me it was a certain price with my insurance which I was okay with they even provided me with a paper breaking it all down, then when I went the day to get them removed they told me it was $200 more that what I was originally told. I let the front lady know, and she adjusted it but it still wasn't what I was originally told. They made me fill out a sheet with my basic information and medical history BEFORE I went in the back room to get my wisdom teeth removed. Once they called me back they put me in a room with at least five people in there. One lady would come in every 4 to five minutes and have me sign a corner of a sheet with my initials, leave, then come back and make me sign the page right behind it which made no sense to me. There was so many people in the room all talking all while she is asking me to sign a corner of a page which everyone else is talking to me. When I would proceed to lift the page to read what I was about to sign the young man in the room advised I wasn't supposed to read it and just sign. I felt very intimidated and proceeded to sign which is my fault I should have stood up for myself and that is the biggest regret I have. My question is why until I was in the CHAIR minutes before they put me under did they have me sign this? Why didn't they do that prior to going into the back room? They had me fill out all my medical information before in a quite area but why not this? I got them removed and I thought everything went well. A day later I realized I could not feel the left side of my Chin/lip. I gave them a call and they told me to wait two weeks. I waited two weeks, and still no feeling. They told me to wait a month and still nothing. I am not two months post op and I cannot feel the left side of my chin/jaw, lip, teeth or gums. My smile is not the same the left side is dropy compared to the right. When I talk my lips shift to the right. I have spent countless nights up not being able to sleep re-thinking my life because of how different this has made me feel. NO ONE ever advised to me the complications that could have happened getting my wisdom teeth removed. They were very sketchy with absolutely everything from the moment I step in that office the day of my appointment. I just want to being this to light in case anyone decides to go here to get anything done, please know what you are signing and please have them explain everything to you instead of them covering up a paper and having you sign a corner without giving you any kind of explanation as to what you are signing. Ask questions please don't be afraid. Ever since that day I have not been the same and it breaks my heart because all I wanted was to fix my smile. This was a major lesson learned and I pray that ANYONE that goes here to please be careful with anything they do. read more

I purchased a groupon from Carrollton Modern Dentistry to try a new dentist that is located closer to my new home that was offering a great deal to new patients. I went to my appointment and had x-rays completed in a timely manner. This was the only good point of the appointment. From there, I was taken to the room to have my teeth cleaned and waited nearly 45 minutes before the doctor came in. Every time I've been to a dentist, my teeth are cleaned first then the doctor examines everything. Once the doctor made his examination, I was presented with a bill of about $950 but would "be discounted for today only for ~$550". I was told that I had a cavity and gum disease and could not have my teeth cleaned before paying for this treatment. Further, I was denied my whitening kit due to this. Being concerned about my dental health, I immediately set an appointment with my regular dentist who I've used for over 12 years. He examined my mouth and the areas that Carrollton Modern Dentistry said were a problem. His examination determined that I did not have gum disease and periolaze treatment would do more damage that good to healthy gums. Also, he said that I did not have a cavity. This company is scamming people with the bait and switch campaign they are running. I agree this deal was probably too good to be true, but they should not advertise it if they cannot honor their side of the bargain. Further, I was in the market for trying a new dentist that is close to my new home and was genuinely interested in giving Carrollton Modern Dentistry a shot. Unfortunately, they failed miserably in obtaining my trust and prolonged business. They should be avoided at all costs. read more

I chose this place thanks to a insurance change and no longer being able to go to my original dentist in the DFW area. I chose it after seeing fairly decent reviews from people. This may have been one of the worst regular cleaning trips I've had to any dentist! After conducting x-rays of my teeth, the doctor came in letting me know I had several cavities and would need 12 fillings. This was absurd. I've always regularly gone to the dentist for cleanings and have always been complimented about how great my teeth are doing. For those of you not familiar with cavities, they show up as dark spots on x-rays. I asked this doctor to show me where my cavities were since I saw no dark spots and he goes "oh, sometimes you can't see them on these". Right then and there, I knew I couldn't trust him. He went on to inform me I probably had gum disease and also would need to remove some extra tissue I have near one of my molars. No need to say, but I walked out of this place without letting them touch my teeth. The following week, I went back to my old dentist (Dr. Yahzari at Texas Dental). Though she was out of network and I would have to pay out of pocket, I wanted peace of mind that I didn't have cavities, gum disease, and harmful tissue. As usual, she comes in, cleans my teeth, let's me know that though I have some extra tissue, it's no harm. Each person is different and some have more tissue than others, there is no norm. As for the cavities, I had none. No fillings needed. I actually questioned her and let her know of my experience here and she was like your teeth are great and you have no problems, I'm not sure what he saw. They showed me my X-rays and explained that everything was normal. I'm glad I never got any work done here on my teeth. Once they do it, you tend to have more problems especially if you had nothing wrong in the first place. This place seems like they're more into trying to make money rather than take care of their patients with honest work. Do not go here! read more

I can honestly say this use to be a good place to visit, I've been coming here for years now. I notice the staff members have changed over the years, not a huge problem as I understand people will move to bigger and better things in their career path. However, after my recent visit here I was not happy with the service I received, they're only concerned with the amount of money they can pull from each patient. Coming here is no worse than going to your local automotive services dealership, they'll try to up-sell by suggested services you do not need or overcharge. During my visit I intended on getting my tooth filled and crowned, I was informed by a staff member that I'll have to pay $1,075.00 for what I need with insurance. Due to the fact that I was in pain I trusted the staff member's word. I felt that amount was high at first glance but considering the fact that I've been a repeating customer I agreed to the amount presented to me. Later after the service was complete I discovered (from my insurance company) that I should have paid $365.00 for the service I received. I informed a front desk staff member on what I discovered (which I trust Carrollton Modern Dentistry to do) and they agreed to make the change after charging my card. If I did not take the time to call my insurance company this dentist office would have received $710.00 more than what was required to cover my co-pay. I will no longer allow Carrollton Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics to perform any future dental work. The quality of work is great but when it comes down to "code and billing" it can get out of hand. For those intending on visiting this Carrollton Modern Dentistry please be mindful of the necessary cost and if your in doubt get a second opinion. read more

I, like another reviewer, purchased a Groupon for a teeth cleaning, x-rays, and take home whitening kit. The interior of the place was extremely well kept and esthetically pleasing. I was promptly greeted and the time to fill out paper work was very short. After waiting almost no time, I went back for x-rays. The x-rays took about 10 minutes but I'm quite positive about 30 x-rays were taken. It's a lot more than I'm used to but I appreciated the detail. That's especially a lot of x-rays when I'm not paying (thanks to the Groupon). I barely waited two minutes after I was greeted by the dentist where he gave me a very thorough exam. He was extremely nice and very informative, walking me through information about my teeth and problems I had been having, causes, solutions, etc. up-sell a couple procedures, which I gave into one of them, but they weren't terribly expensive and if they were, they worked down a much lower price. The dental assistant that cleaned my teeth was also very nice, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. I got a goodie bag of oral hygiene products and my free whitening kit as soon as the cleaning was over! And for anyone that knows how expensive crowns are, I would definitely recommend this place. They have an on site molding procedure so you don't have to wait a week with a temporary crown to get your actual crown. I am in need of one and they charge $920-1050 which is a fantastic price. I'm used to paying $1500. They also walked me through a payment plan they have for such procedures which is great for people like me who need the work done but don't have dental insurance. I don't understand the two bad reviews about this place because my experience was great. Everyone was super nice, and not the "fake nice" that I've experienced with a lot of doctor/dentist/professional health offices. I can't wait to go back in 6 months for a regular check up. read more

At first I was offended with the hard-sell but I complained to Dr. Lunardon who apologized and promised to talk to the saleslady. So he saved me as a customer. Then, yesterday, I went in for some real teeth work. Dr. Lunardon is M-E-T-I-C-U-L-O-U-S! He will not be satisfied until his teethwork is absolutely perfect. And he was constantly asking if I was feeling any pain. He is highly concerned with making sure you are pain-free. I for real nearly fell asleep in the chair with his hands in my mouth. That's how comfortable I was. They really live up to their name. I was floored with the technology they used to get the work done accurately, quickly, and pain-free. I honestly have had the worst experience here and would not recommend them. I took my Son back in February to get some fillings due to cavities along with a crown that was needed. When i went back for his 6 month check up i decided to use a child dentist since my son was terrified from his previous experience I was notified from the new dentist that the most current fillings and crown were infected. Everyone knows that a trip to the dentist is never cheap and to find out that the amount you paid to get something fixed now turned into a more expensive resolution. I notified Carrollton Modern Dentistry of what had happened in October and they did not show any empathy. They advised they would speak to billing to see of anything could be done. I sent them a copy of how much their mistake would cost me and later notified me i would only get back the portion i paid out of pocket. This was back in October and we are in December. I constantly emailed them to get an update on when the refund would be sent and was advised that corporate was still pending the approval. I also notified them i was waiting on them to issue the refund before i would start the dental correction on my son. We have been going back and forth in reference to the refund for 3 months now with no resolution they advised they sent the payment but i have also provided them with my bank statement proving nothing has been received. This has honestly been the worst experience ever. read more

I will not be returning to Carrollton Modern Dentistry because it seems all they care about is overcharging customers with medications that can be bought for much cheaper at your local pharmacy after they assure you it can only be bought at the dentistry. Here's my story: I was drawn to them because they take patients without medical insurance. During my 1st visit there, they said I needed to rinse with a medicated mouthwash and it would cost me $35 for the bottle (chlorhexidine gluconate). I asked if this medicated mouthwash could be bought else where for a lower cost. They assured me that it could only be bought at the dentist. Trusting them, I paid for my bill and rescheduled. After I got home I realized they charged me over $85 for my visit!!!! It was only supposed to be about $75. Before I went back, I went to Walmart Pharmacy and the price for Chlorhexidine was $4.85, wow! I went back to the dentist and they did not know why the extra $10 was charged. So I returned the $35 mouthwash, got my $10 back and only paid for the half completed cleaning. Wonderful! If you have to go to this dentistry, try to check with your local pharmacy before buying any medication. It will save you some money. I trusted them when they said I couldn't get the mouthwash anywhere else, but guess they saw right through me. During my visit, the receptionist even tried to push some enamel coating protection that was over $30. I kindly asked her to not add anything else to my visit that day, only the $39 cleaning. It felt like I just visited a car dealership over charging me for everything! read more

I too was forced to change orthodontic doctors because CMD abruptly closed their program. I had already paid off my son's braces and was told I would only be getting back $137 to put towards a new ortho specialist. My son only had a few more months of treatment left and I had to come up with an additional $1,750.00 for 4 months of treatment. To top it all off I still have not received a refund and it has been 3 months. This office changes staff all the time. That includes the dentists as well. I would not send my worst enemy to this office or any other Modern Dentistry office. West Plano Modern Dentistry also has an ortho program but gave me the run around for 2 months. I have been a patient here since 2011 and can honestly say I would not even consider going to another dental facility unless circumstances dictated it. Rachael is my "gum saver". She knows what products to use and makes sure that I am never in distress. Many years prior to going here I had both upper and lower gum surgery done. Rachael makes sure to point out if any area needs better attention or if improvement made since the last visit. Dr. Lanarden is quite thorough and very pleasant to work with. My husband is also a patient. Dr. Lanarden understands his different and challenging dental needs. The staff is always ready to handle any dental emergency and has a great network of specialist to handle surgery when needed. read more

My dental experience in the past has always been very stressing. I did not feel this way with Dr. Lohman. I felt very relaxed and at ease while she addressed my dental needs. I need to preface this review by saying, I do not like the dentist. I need quite a bit of work done and I'm always told I'm doing something wrong. - this being said, I actually ENJOY coming to Carrollton Modern Dentistry! I see Dr. Saffold and have seen a few others as well and I have not had a bad experience in the time I've been using them (about a year now). I've had some major work done during this time and the staff is always so helpful and friendly that there is no way I can feel bad about the procedures I'm having/have had done. The ladies at the front desk are SO sweet and make my times coming in a lot of fun. Not only are they all genuinely very nice people, they do good work too. I haven't had any issues with the work I've had done and they are sure to tell me that if there are ANY issues, to call them asap to get it checked out. So now I can honestly say, I kinda like my dentist. :) read more

My wisdom teeth were bothering me and I had not been to a dentist in a while because they stab your mouth with small sharp chisel things. I'm a weeny. But Dr. Hottie and crew were super nice and treated me like the scared 5 year old I am. Got a cleaning and an inlay and they even let me use their bathroom for free. The ladies up front are extra friendly and go out of their way to work around your schedule. And they're all super hot. I look forward to my next cleaning. read more

SCAM ALERT!!! I went to these guys because they were one of the few companies listed as an option for my insurance under DHSM plan(I think). When I spoke to the receptionist, he said that they couldn't guarantee me my six month cleaning. They spent two hours on me taking all these xrays, etc. When I was finished they said I would need $3600 of deep cleaning of which $1200 would be out of my pocket. My wife got the same pitch. I never got my cleaning in. Sounded kind of fishy since my last dentist said my gums were fine. I went back to my old dentist who is under PPO plan, and he said my gums were fine and this is a common scam practice with dentist who accept DHSM. And under my DHSM insurance, they would only replace fillings with metal fillings. STAY AWAY from these guys. read more

This used to be a good place but they have changed all the staff and all the good people have left. I called Saturday for an emergency as I had an infection and found out at the time that my regular dentist had left there. The current dentist would not meet me at the office. I found out later that was because the office manager had not given the dentists the keys to the office. She told me to go to the ER (yea, right). I went in on Tuesday and she said she was going to call me a prescription for an antibiotic and she never has. I left two messages and then finally got hold of the front office and she said she would talk to her. My regular dental hygienist left as well as the rest of the staff. I've had so many issues with this new staff that I have cancelled my cleaning appointment in June and will be looking for another dentist. Too bad, because I went there for 7 years.
