Updating my review for the Coral Gables location: I placed an order yesterday at the Coral Gables store. I was charged and the order never arrived! The order was for delivery but it was clear that the store's fault and not a delivery issue because I never even received a link that I driver was on the way like I usually do. To add insult to injury: no one picked up the number provided! I even called another location and they could not reach them either. So at 9 pm they closed and we didn't have an order. I waited until today to call again and again nothing! No way to reach them, disorganized and bad attitude from the staff. Avoid this location at all costs. read more

There are so many Carrot Express restaurants, I finally got around to trying. I went for breakfast and got a side of sweet potato fries that came with a side of spicy mayo ( SOOOO GOOD!). I was not too hungry, so I got a Strawberry Passion smoothie with added protein powder. The good food here tastes good, however I am skeptical about coming back because of their cleanliness. While eating we were able to watch the workers making the food and prepping everything. We watched a worker grab a box and pull out a bunch of kale. They then began ripping the leaves off and putting it into a machine to chop it, but she did not wash the kale before hand. I also noticed another worker using a rag/towel to clean the inside of the oven and then immediately put food inside the oven without any sort of tray or paper to prevent direct contact to the oven. I'm not sure if the rag had some sort of food safe cleaner on it, but it was definitely something that made me worry about the cleanliness of my food. read more

We split the Kale Caesar Wrap with a side of Falafel initially. Afterwards, we shared the Tuna Poke Wrap with Kale and Quinoa for the binding factor. At the checkout, I added a bag of yucca chips which went heavenly with the cilantro lime sauce even though Cristina preferred the spicy mayo sauce on the crunchy goods. We grabbed two waters to accompany our meal and immediately noticed the top notch service we were receiving. From the moment we ordered to our table side service and including the "would you like extra sauce" comment that made our visit here the first of many to come. They packaged our leftovers in a very secure and sanitary way which made us even more grateful. This place was great, in a really nice elite neighbor. The inside was very modern contemporary style. The pick up process was super easy, we ordered online and it was there waiting when we arrived. They did make the smoothie when I arrived, which was nice because the smoothie wasn't melted. Parking is super tight, in my opinion it would be best to ride your bike or walk here. They work together with my faves at Orange Theory Coral Gables and so you can order from their app and have your food ready after class - amazing! Recently, I won a raffle where I got a gift certificate. My gym friends and I decided to stop in for lunch. We got two poke bowls with tuna and a Brussels sprout salad with mahi. You can get the poke with salmon or tuna, and I was really happy with the tuna. Of the two dishes, the poke was my favorite. The other salad was good, but it comes dressed already with a thing of dressing on the side. I used the side of dressing on the salad before I knew it was already dressed, which was a mistake. I have mixed feelings about this... the one thing that should have been the star of the order, was scorched beyond recognition, while everything else was excellent. Now, before we start, a note: I don't like to waste food, so, I don't send back an order unless 1) it has "added ingredients" such as bags, hairs, insects, etc., or two 2) looks, smells or tastes spoiled and/or unhealthy in some way. So, yes, I ate the whole thing and now I'm reviewing the dissatisfaction. This is the second time me and my coworker come to carrot express. The first time we attempted to order, but upon the third item on the menu we asked for and they didn't have available, we left the first time and ate somewhere else. This was already in COVID season so we are not holding it against the place. The second time, my coworker got an impossible burger and I ordered a salmon burger. This is over 16 each burger plus tax and tip. I was going to order coconut water, but what usually is a $3 bottle was over $9, so I settler for regular water. I point this out just to leave clear the it is not a cheap place to eat, so there's a minimum quality level you expect. As for safety measures go, both servers we interacted to kept their masks on at all times, a prudential distance and a friendly attitude so service could pretty much be rated 4 and a 1/2 stars. The burgers come with one side, we both chose the Green Goddess Salad. I loved it. Tasted fresh, and tasted delicious, the dressing was also very nice. I tend to finish my salad before going for the burger. My coworker eats them together, so I already knew the Impossible burger was a bit overcooked and dry, but overall was a good burger. But when I finally took a bite of my salmon burger... nothing could have prepared me to the level of...scorching... that poor salmon gave its life for. To be clear: the bread, sauces, and veggies of the burger were fresh and tasty... but that salmon patty felt and tasted as if someone tried and succeeded to overcook it in a microwave after someone had already burned it on a griddle. If you have ever reheated anything in a microwave for two minutes over what was needed to burn it, you know what I'm talking about. It sounds like a joke, but I guarantee you I'm not laughing: it was an otherwise excellent burger, would have probably worth the $16+ that costs, but what is supposed to be the star of a burger (i.e.: the patty) was so bad, that I don't think I'll give Carrot Express a second chance. Again: no. I don't send food back, even as bad as this was, it was still borderline edible. Now the good thing is that the dessert took out the awful experience from my taste buds. I had the Tierra cheesecake and my coworker had the strawberry one. I tasted both. Say what you will. Both cheesecakes are vegan, but both are good. And we chose well, too. My coworker liked the strawberry one better, not being a coffee lover, while I enjoyed the Tierra (which is coffee and chocolate) so much, I almost forget to curse them for the salmon patty.
