Been coming here for years. I've always enjoyed a healthy meal from Carrot Express but lately their portions have gotten really petite. $26 for brown rice, 4 broccoli stems and 4 oz of chicken just isn't worth the value. It's been the same experience with the vegan picadillo bowl or wraps having just a few cubes of chicken. The food is still super tasty, great smoothies, and desserts and the staff is really friendly. The location is right next to the theater, which makes it ideal to grab a bite before or after the show. Carrot express usually is consistent, but this location was underwhelming. As soon as you walk in you can barely move around because it's very tiny. The two employees were talking amongst each other instead of attending to the customers. There was only one employee who was attentive to the customers and what they wanted. For the amount of people coming in and out, they were short staffed. I wanted to try their iced coffee, but the coffee machine was broken. Ordered a plain and Nutella croissant. Nothing out of this world. Both had a bland flavor to it. I order many times from Carrot Express in Miami Shores. Service is excellent and food is well prepared. Store looks beautiful after restoration. I have noticed portions got smaller and prices went up though. They also removed from the menu the carrot and sweet potato soup (the best one). So, carrot express has no carrot soup anymore... To replace it now they have a liquid vegetable soup with few pieces of vegetables here and there. They also have the (delicious) lentil soup as a second option but sometimes they don't have it as it happened today when I placed my order. Loved our food at breakfast this Morning with the outdoor bistro seating. The tuna melt was a huge portion, so I ended up saving half and eating it for lunch. I stopped in for lunch. The location sits on the corner and parking is available free of charge on the side of the building. I had a salmon wrap that was paired with cilantro lime sauce. Joey, was super helpful providing options for menu items including drinks. He allowed me to try out multiple options for dipping sauces as I found the cilantro sauce to be too sweet for the wrap option I selected. I come here 3x per week to breakfast on their delicious almond butter acai bowl (or avocado toast with eggs, if I'm in the mood), blue magic smoothie, and their lattes. Their wraps and platters are delectable as well. If I could, I'd be here 2x a day, every day. I usually sit in the corner working on my computer (they have WiFi and great AC). One of the girls working there, Camila, has been very friendly and even recognized me by face and name, and made me want to come back. Even the owner came up to me a few weeks ago when he saw me ordering the acai bowl and asked how I liked it as he had changed up the texture to make it smoother (it really is SO GOOD). All that is forgivable because the food is good but what cannot be overlooked is that for a: hamburger, two bowls, an apple juice and a smoothie, our bill came to around $100.00.
