This review is only for the outdoor pools. The outdoor pools are beautifullll! There are I believe 5 different pools? Some hotter than the others so they are offer something different. They were all very clean and the spouts that empty into the pools make a great "massage" effect. Two of the pools had jets like hot tubs but they were big so they didnt have that cramped feel that a hot tub can sometimes give. Next time i look forward to booking a private room! read more

Carson hot springs are no frill experience that does the job. Its outdoors general pools are available for walk in and the 2-hour tickets are quite affordable. The bathrooms and showers are clean. The pools seemed to be roughly the same temperature and they weren't clearly marked so that could be an improvement. There's not much to look at in terms of views or nature so we entertained ourselves by watching the planes take off from the nearby Reno airport. There's a nice brewery next door where you can drink to quench your thirst. Overall, it was moderately enjoyable and relaxing. read more

The only thing that is a bit of a downfall is that the private rooms are first come first serve. They need to either do reservations or take down the names of people and go down the line. I love the pools and the private soak rooms. Love Love Love. But the front desk girls (young, accents). Are rude, could give a hoot about helping anyone, and in my opinion, are horrible. It's happened three times I've gone just since the new year. They are lazy, artifact, and extremely dismissive. They are making a wonderful experience, shitty. I'll see if I go back. I may have to switch to Steamboat Hotsprings in Reno. They're customer service is superb and worth the extra cost to not be treated like crap from a young rude girls (not women... I really, really want to like this place, however multiple unpleasant experiences have happened. This last one drew the line. I went Fri Jan 27th, was there at opening like several others. About half hour after opening, a maintenance crew shows up and starts blowing the patio off. So, everyone sitting in the tubs now gets debris blown around, gas fumes to suck on not including the obvious noise that comes with a commercial blower. Absolutely shocked, 3 employees seemed to think this was ok even after it was complained about, it continued. So I left early, pissed and dizzy from the fume. Pools are awesome. Men's changing room is ridiculous too small. Only enough room for (3) people to sit down. Spent all that money on adding more pools, increasing capacity, but did not enlarge Men's changing room. The original Men's changing room for decades was much larger sitting/changing capacity. Needs to be addressed. All the Men are complaining about this. Only I am being pro-active via this review. I love Carson Hot Springs! It's a family tradition to soak and relax every time we are in town visiting family. It's never too crowded and it is always peaceful. They now have multiple outdoor hot pools with varying temperatures and nothing beats a long soak. The private indoor pools are also wonderful and HOT. I can't recommend spending a few hours here enough. The staff is always very nice and I love soaking and enjoying the fresh air. Wonderful experience! Drove out from Sacramento, was about a two hour drive. Came here Saturday during Memorial Day weekend and it was busy but not over crowded. We chose to get a private room, which was $20 a person for two hours with pool/spas included outside till close. Other wise it's $12 for just pools spas outside. The rooms are first come first serve and we had a few options, some have a few more seating available within the hot spring spa but main difference is the temperature of the water for each room. We chose the one with 103F, which was pretty hot and we had to cool down and get out every 10min or so. Inside clean, water clean and bench and doors look really nice remind me of sauna type wood materials. Outdoors there's a warm spring pool and two spas. They most likely chlorinate the spas they had that smell and bubbles. But it was hot and had strong jets. Pool had many floatations to borrow and a water cannon type of fixture that they call the hammer. It poured out very hot water, but bearable and massaged out my neck and shoulders very well. Great customer service and good value, definitely recommended for private and family trips. read more

I went back in 2018 and got a private room with some friends, totally forgot about it and now to come back and see all of the renovations! 4 nice pools, one with lots of jets. And where else can you get a 120 degree waterfall to pound out all of your tired and sore muscles?? Nothing beats the hammer. We go regularly and get the frequent swimmer passes (10 visits for $120). Great mineral content without the typical hot spring scent. They drain and refill the big pool nightly. Love and abundance. read more

There are entirely too many children running around screaming when part of the whole idea to come to a hot springs is to relax. I was hopeful that when the new pools opened there might be a designated child area however they are running around more prolific than ever! I love kids and I have 3 which I have enjoyed bringing to the hot springs however i am hyper vigilant to adhere to the rules and policies regarding splashing, noise, & jumping. For the amount changed I think I should be able to enjoy myself without having unattended children reeking havoc. read more

Amazing Getaway place! It's always busy and understandable that it might not the the cleanest everywhere, but this place is amazing for a nice relaxation day with family. There's 4 pools that's vary in size and temp which is cool for people who want to try out different options. You can rent towels if you forget one, it's only $2. For our biweekly date night, my husband & I decided to get a Private Room at the Carson Hot Springs...I had been wanting to go to a hot springs in California for quite some time and for one reason or another it just never panned out. I googled hot springs near me and came across their website. It was the closest in distance to us and also the closest to a real "hot spring" I was going to get. Their website advertises a restaurant and brewery a few steps away from the springs but unfortunately they are not open until 11am and if you are a morning person like me that just won't work, specially since the hot springs open up at 7am...we had originally planned on doing breakfast there around 8am & than heading over, but instead we had to grab breakfast in town (Reno) before driving into Carson City. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice lady (who's name I forgot) who went over some of their rules which included absolutely no alcohol on site....in the lobby you can find sodas, water, juices, cookies, chips, even ice cream for purchase which you are able to take into the private rooms but absolutely no alcohol which I was sad about because I really wanted a mimosa I recommend you drink prior to your arrival OR like the nice lady suggested that you arrive after 11am and can eat and drink at the restaurant first, than walk over to springs. You can also rent towels for 2$, but we brought our own. There was a sign that read all bags were subject to inspection which I found odd but I am assuming it's because people have snuck alcohol in there before, and even though I had a bag with our towels and a change of clothes we were never asked to show the contents. The website gives the mini spa private rooms little to no credit, the private room we were in was beautiful, spacious, clean and so relaxing! No reservations are taken, they are first-come first-served basis & the rooms vary in temperature with the highest at 104. It was my husbands first time so we chose the room with a temperature of 102 and it was perfect. Rates included use of the private room for 2 hours and also the use of the outdoor pool and patio but we did not check the outside out. My boyfriend and I decided to go here after suffering some major muscle fatigue from attending a concert the day before. We rented the 104 degree private room for 2 hours and it completely rejuvenated us! The minerals in the water do wonders for sore muscles. By the time we left, we felt light as air - all of the pain in our feet, calves and backs had disappeared. Plus, the water allows you to be so buoyant, it's very relaxing to just lie there and float. At first, we thought 2 hours would be too long, but it turned out to be just right. We would stay in the water for about half an hour, then sit on the stairs or bench inside the room to cool down for 10 minutes. Be sure to bring a large container of water so you can stay hydrated! During the 4 hours, we went through 4 bottled waters, and afterwards at the Sassafras restaurant had several glasses of lemon water. We tried to have some cocktails as well, but the mineral treatment makes you feel so purified it's almost like your body resists any type of alcohol or toxin. So... after 1 drink, we ditched the booze idea lol. It's awesome that they're adding on to this place and doing some upgrades. Would love to see a small juice bar added - something that offers healthier beverages than the adjoining brewery and restaurant. It was definitely tough to drink any type of alcohol, or even sip on a soda afterwards, which was probably our bodies telling us... HEY drink something with nutrients! The employees at the Hot Spring and Sassafras restaurant were super friendly. It was a fantastic experience and we can't wait to go back! Just another note on the healing effects of the mineral water... Since the start of February, I've had a 65 hour work-week schedule where I'm juggling a full time job, massage therapy classes, plus handling an independent online business. Hearing people talk about "self-care" was laughable, because there just wasn't time. I was feeling horribly unbalanced and started having major issues with concentration. On top of that, my entire body was always in pain - especially my back and legs - plus I was retaining water and felt like I'd aged 40 years in 2 months. After the mineral soak, ALL of these problems have vanished. My mental clarity has returned, and the water retention disappeared - so my clothes fit comfortably again. The back spasms and leg pain are 100% gone - it's the first day in a month that I haven't needed to take IB Profins. I feel back to myself, and didn't even dread going to work on Monday morning. I called earlier today, because my fiancé had intentions to surprise me with going here this weekend together, she was really excited to show me, as I was intrigued so I called earlier to ask how the walkthrough works, like step by step for what happens or what to do when you want to get a private spring room, a man answered the phone, I had greeted him and said "hello, I'm calling to ask how the hot springs work, is it shower, then directed to the private room, and what are the steps?" To prepare since we've never gone before. The man ignored all my questions and angrily told me, " I don't know man you're gonna have to see for yourself and it'll be probably be 30+ minute wait." I told him that's not what I asked. I asked how it worked. Definitely a shitty morale, shitty attitude the staff had over the phone. Thanks carson hot springs for hoping that it would be a good experience that didn't even end up going past a phone call. If you hate your job, quit. Every time we go the staff is great and friendly. Without covid-19 we would have hit the pool and hot tub, but with covid we wanted to stay away. We felt safe and happy with their services. My family came here twice while we were in town we loved it so much. There are different pool options with different temperatures, which is perfect especially if you have kids. The time slots are 2 hours, which is more than enough. The pools are perfect and clean, even when it's busy it doesn't feel crowded. There are lockers in the dressing room if you need them, as well as individual showers to wash after. We will be back next time we are in town. I drove in from Washington state the day before to visit family for a week. I had an awful migraine and they recommended this place so I could relax and decompress. First of all, $28 for 2hrs for a room of water that comes up to your hips is way overpriced. Upon check-in the only room available was F. The next available one wasn't for another 30min. I will say the room was clean, new trash bag in the container, dry mat and bench too. The water was 100.6* and felt good. The issue I have is with a screeching fan above the room that can't be turned off. When I say it was screeching, I mean it was continuous nails on a chalk board and loud. I knew I couldn't complain because there were no other rooms available. After 45min I couldn't take anymore. I got out, dried off, gathered my things, used the restroom (also clean) and went to the desk. When I told the young woman what happened in the room and how it's not relaxing at all, she offered no apologies and flatly asked "why didn't you come here, we would have switched you." I reminded her that no rooms were open and it would have been a 30min wait. At this point a male worker chimes in and says "I bet it's the pipes feeding in." Uhm, no sir. "It's most definitely the fan because you can match the awful screeching pattern with the way the fan was moving," I told him. The young woman again says I should have come to the desk. Clearly she didn't understand what I told her just mere seconds before. No apologies. No sincerity in her "I can't do anything for you" speech." No empathy at all when I explained why I was here. When I asked who the manager was (so I could reach out the next day) she replied "we have several.." After promoting again, she said the managers are "Mark & Keith, but they're rarely here. They just pop in when they want." At this point I gave up. She didn't give two cents about the experience or my frustrations. This by far one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. All in all, I'd recommend the place if the staff was competent, and the prices were fair. read more

I have a soft spot for Carson Hot Springs. When stressed and yearning some R & R I think of you! I took a friend visiting from Berkeley and my 6 year old son the other day and we soaked (and played) to our hearts content. We like being outside so we enjoyed the hot tubs and swam in the pool. My girlfriend was impressed with the hot springs experience and the friendliness of the place. I bought a 10 pack this last time (they were on sale, I think they go on sale every Dec. typically) so visits for me are now $8 as the pack was $80. My kiddo even found a some nice kids to play with so it was a fortuitous visit that met the adult R & R needs and the kid play needs. As I have mentioned in my previous review the changing areas are older and cramped so we like to take robes when the weather is cold in case we have to wait to change (to keep that warmth from the hot springs in) and for my son I just change his clothes under the robe when need be. The place is nice but the staff is beyond rude, and was trying to turn it around on me for asking simple questions stating that she thought I was rude and she would ask me to Leave.... For simply calling her on her rude behavior, they act like they are doing you a favor by letting you swim here... the owner of this establishment hopefully takes note of their staff, because if you read the reviews I'm not the only one that thinks the staff is very rude... for some reason the older lady is in a super bad mood.... I have visited this place several times over the years, Im about 2 hours away, in the past visits it was relatively quite and there was a few kids running a round but still enjoyable. I love kids so don't get me wrong but when you go to hot springs to relax and there's kids yelling back and forth it makes it feel like your at the community pool. In my previous visited there has never been more than 15 people. A couple weeks ago I took my mom and daughter and was excited to spend some time together. I was shocked to show up and see that the place was packed, liked over 100 people shoulder to shoulder, kids jumping off the deck into the pool crowds off people gathered in the corners of the pool drinking and a ton of noise. The dressing room | shower room was a complete mess floors with standing water, showers were dirty, non of the blow dryers worked and no place to keep your stuff. We ended up carrying our stuff from pool to pool, I didn't feel our stuff was safe out of eye contact. The staff was just blaa and wasn't interested in answering any questions. If they're going to allow that many people in at once should have more staff to ensure the shower rooms are safe and clean and may want to build some cubbies inside or outside so people have a place to put their stuff. Perhaps have certain hours for kids and limit the amount of people that come in. I wont be back.. read more

I've been here three times, the most recent being this week. It is a reasonably priced facility that isn't too bad. In past visits, I've been I. Rooms that didn't even have a comfortable seat in the private tub. Room G has a nice bench and some "rock features." I've never used the common areas. I would have to say that this place is an amazing spot to rest either it's winter or summer. It's never empty even when they open. I like how they have tables and chairs in the shadow. In case it's hot, you can always hide in the shade. There are also many places to get your tan. It has one big swimming pool with mineral water and two jacuzzis that is really hot. At all times. In the pool they have this stream of water that runs from the pipe that is located about sixteen feet above the pool It's pretty strong and hot stream that can massage your body. The water itself relaxes you to the point that you just want to fall a sleep in the pool. There are many parking spots. There is no shade tho so if you're coming here during the summer, get something to cover your windshield because your car will be crazy hot. If you are coming here from far I mean like 150 miles far, I would highly suggest to get a hotel in Carson city. They are not that expensive. The average price is about 70-90 dollars. read more

We just recently moved into the valley from Tahoe and decided to give this place a shot, we have both been to Wally's hot springs so we figured try a new place. Upon arrival we realized it was only one hot pool, and a few "private pools" which was okay, we started trying to have a conversation with the two employees one younger kid and an older lady. They didn't seem to know or be able to explain how the place worked nor the pricing. We were told it was $15 for the pools and we could hangout and wait for a private pool to open up, this was the just of the explanation we got. Upon leaving we walked through and decided to try to dry sauna and then we saw a private pool open up and no one else went in for quite a while. So we thought it was a perfect time to change and try it out real quick, we dipped in the pool quickly and then started to change. This is when someone began knocking loudly on the door. After responding with a hey we hear you the knocking kept on happening so we opened the door and were greeted with hostility from the young man. We told him what happened and he said he was going to tell the older lady. Confused we continued changing, and then more loud knocking, this time the older lady. She was very rude and told use we needed to pay more money. At this point we were barely clothed and told her if we could just finish changing we would head up front. We headed up from and the hostility continued, we paid as to avoid any additional drama and left rather confused and disappointed. Next time it's Wally's got springs for sure, the higher price is worth it for a more pleasant experience. read more

In theory, this seemed like a great place to come and relax for a little bit. I reserved a private spa for my friend and I. We got there and we had to wait for a little bit out by the main pools. Once our spa was open we went in and honestly, it looked just OK in the cleanliness department. You can tell this place has been around a long time and needs a little TLC. When we stepped into the water it was beyond hot but we went in anyways. At first it was OK and we we're having a good time but then the heat of the water was just way too overwhelming. It was unbearable and we had to get out. Also my friend was freaking out a little bit but I think that's because he can't swim and didn't want to admit it. However, most people wouldn't have been able to withstand that water temperature and it just ended up being wasted money and wasted time. read more

Really nice place for a hot soak. Doesn't matter if the snow is blowing and it's freezing outside.. slide into any of the four outdoor pools, relax, enjoy the view of the Sierras to the west. It's clean, not expensive and good for you. I don't know what the private indoor tubs might be like.. I'm not super fancy. I do like soaking with my lady and seeing other humans enjoying NOT being on their phones for a couple of hours, immersed instead in the actual, natural world! Great place! read more

It's really sad that ownership put so much time and money to improve this place and the guests and employees are just terrible. We love soaking here, and the new pools are a huge upgrade... but this is the second time we've come here and had things stolen from the locker room. We even brought all of our bags to our chairs this time because we were afraid of something being stolen. Only leaving a pair of boots in the locker room and wouldn't you guess when we came back... they were gone. Along with another guest who discovered her brand new UGG boots were gone. So sad that people will rummage through others things and steal. The employees are young kids that clearly weren't taught customer service or manners. Extremely rude girl working behind the counter today. We want to love this place, but it's just not worth it when we are trying to relax and end up leaving more stressed. read more
