I came to Carspec for a simple tire rotation. Sure its nothing too complicated, but they did it both quickly and properly, something that seems to be harder and harder to find these days. Carspec is new to the area so I hadn't heard too much about them, but I suspect that will quickly change. The waiting room is clean and quiet, and the front desk is helpful and courteous. Obviously the most important part of a car repair shop is the work that they do. The mechanics here charge a fair price for good service. More than that though, any recommendations they may have for future service are discussed in plain english, and without scare tactics or high pressure sales pitches. The shop itself is almost comically, surgically clean, and there is a large window to the waiting room so that you can see exactly whats happening to your car. I'm definitely taking my vehicles here for anything I need in the future, the experience is more like an apple store than a traditional car dealership. Clean, modern and professional shop. Even though I only stopped by for a cup of coffee and to charge my Tesla, John was courteous enough to stop what he was doing and give me a tour of the waiting area and shop. The whole inside of the shop is visible from the waiting area through a large window. I'm glad there are still some that value good service and a personal approach - this is obviously a small shop and you can tell they are customer focused. The only downside is that they only work on Toyota and Lexus cars, so if you don't have one they will refer you elsewhere (but will give you free coffee anyway). If you are in a pinch they will let you use their 6.6kWh charger free of charge. Overall a great shop that I'll tell my Toyota and Lexus owning friends about. read more

I found CARspec when I was looking online for info about a problem with my Lexus GX470's KDSS system. I had already taken the car to my regular mechanic- who wasn't comfortable working on this specialized system, and to a Lexus dealer- who had recommended repairs costing over $8,000.00. After looking at Carspec's site and blog, I was impressed- and I emailed John for advice. I'm a complete stranger, and my home is 400 miles from his shop- so he had nothing to gain from helping me- but he called me back that same afternoon. Excellent shop. Friendly people. Jon is an expert in all respects with regards to Toyota Land Cruiser and the Lexus variants. Even answered some random questions about Lexus sedans. On my first visit, for oil change, rotation and inspection, Jon spent 20 minutes on the phone with me, going over all the details of the inspection, and giving his advice on whether to trade up or keep the vehicle. On my second visit, I got to back back in the shop and see what was fixed on my truck. And then spent about 15 minutes chatting with the team. My first experience at CARspec was great. As a mechanical engineer myself (who prefers not to work on cars anymore), I appreciated the level of expertise they provided for my Lexus. All elements of the repair were explained in detail, and the old parts were on hand for review. If you want cheap repairs with questionable quality, this is not the place for you.
