Stopped here prior to brunch and enjoyed my iced lavender honey latte. It was a standard latte that I could see myself getting if I passed by on a regular commute. Not too strong but not too milky. The cortado was also nice! A good amount of strength in that little drink with a picture perfect design. The mango tajin matcha lemonade was more refreshing as it wasn't a latte. It was supposed to be a limeade but they ran out. The lemonade was still a lighter touch. Cartel was pretty busy on a Saturday morning with regular traffic coming in & out. It's a little smaller with several tables for seating, including outside. I would like to try their pour over at some point. All flavor notes sound delicious! I've never felt so welcome entering a coffee shop until today. Their kindness and banter is totally my jam. And their love for coffee totally matches mine. Small coffee shop off a main street. Line was long but the team powered through it and got coffees out pretty quickly. Seating inside and outside. No covering for outside seating. Well I am not going to bash other coffee shops because they are not as good as Cartel. I will however point out that they have been very bad for the industry. Cartel products are well known for their quality and sustainability; but also supporting the grower with fair prices for their product. The crew in Palm Springs are great at keeping the atmosphere warm and inviting, with great customer service and coffee. They are not like the other companies that have nothing to do with their customers and only care about the money they make. The roast on their beans is wonderful. So much that I decided to purchase a bag of their coffee after finishing my latte. It was a bit of a shock when it rang up at $27 for a 5.2 ounce bag of beans. Thankfully it came with a free drip coffee, and my man was looking for a refill so it kept me from openly weeping lol. I get it. The tariffs are making importing everything expensive, I'm sure including coffee beans from Central America. I would've appreciated a price tag on the bags just so I could've prepared myself for that reality. Also, I'm from San Diego and we have tons of coffee shops there and I buy beans at a lot of them and most of them sell at least an 8 ounce bag and for less than that price. I thought that the coffees were great, and the pastries were really good too, although there was no option to heat them. I thought that the interior was really cute and I loved how enthusiastically and creatively they decorated for Halloween. I would return, but don't think I would buy another bag of beans from there. read more

This is a small but cozy and super clean coffee joint. They have an enormous menu on the wall behind the front counter but a much more detailed one listing more specialized drinks on a laminated sheet. My "standard" cold brew was smooth and not bitter. Don't miss the organic simple syrup on the coffee bar. It's absolutely delicious. Yes, it's a little on the expensive side and you can thank the tariffs for that. My wife and I are big matcha drinkers and we always make a point to find a good matcha spot when we travel. For our first morning in Palm Springs we stopped at Cartel Coffee because it was right across from where we were staying for our anniversary weekend. The shop itself is small but has a cool look with interesting art and a relaxed vibe. The staff were super friendly and welcoming and it definitely feels like a go to spot for locals who want a solid coffee or tea. I ordered a vanilla matcha latte and my wife got the honey lavender matcha. Unfortunately the vanilla matcha latte was a complete miss. It tasted mostly like milk with no real vanilla flavor and barely any matcha taste. I ended up swapping with my wife and her honey lavender matcha was definitely better with a unique flavor that was pleasant but not something I would order again. It seems like Cartel is more known for their coffee than their matcha and that is totally fine, but for us it was a little disappointing. We ended up finding a different place later in the day to get our matcha fix. Still, the shop has great service and a nice atmosphere if you are stopping in for coffee or just to hang out. read more

I'm giving them 5 stars because the hot mocha I ordered online was fantastic. However, their wifi was apparently down when I arrived. There was a huge line of people also waiting for their orders. We had to request that my drink was made at that point, and thankfully they made it right away. Hopefully they figure out the wifi issue and maybe turn off online ordering if the wifi goes down. We stopped there on our way from Indio to Orange County. The staff was friendly and the drip coffee was good. We were hoping to grab a croissant, but they seem to be out of baked goods at 8:30 in the morning on a Monday. This is small shop some inside seating and some outside seating. Over the course of my visits, I ordered a simple vanilla latte with oat milk as well as an iced matcha with oat milk and a dash of cinnamon (you've GOTTA try this combination - it is SOOO GOOD!). Both of these drinks were absolutely delicious and a great way to start my day. I've gotta shout out the staff here; they're so kind, welcoming, and their service is great!
