Front door, not open at 8.
    Gary M.

Tried to go there with friends this morning, driving in from Cat City. Arrived at 8 am which is the stated hour of opening and the place was completely dark and showed no signs of opening. Waited a bit and nothing. Tried to call them but got the dreaded "This mailbox is full and is not accepting messages" response. Very unprofessional. How hard is it to (a) open on time and (b) clear your voicemail so people can get in touch.

The food, the service, the drinks, nothing tops them . I would eat here at least twice a week when I've lived in Palm Springs in 2021. I hesitated to see if they're still open as I've been looking about relocating again and I am so happy to see that they are open. This really does influence whether or not I will be staying nearby. They don't make them like they used to but fortunately they don't have to because Sammy G's is still around. My reservations always went well and everything was perfect every single time. Only a handful of places throughout Southern California can do that. Even if it's busy if you're a regular they accommodate. For the phone call to dessert it runs so smoothly. Every dish and drink is 10/10.

I ordered a ribeye but I wanted truffle fries with aioli instead of the other sides and they happily made that, she ordered lamb chops but she wanted a Cesar and they made that. As an appt we got the charcuterie I'd rate that a 6/10 but everything else was a 9/10. Two entrees with extra charges for subbing items, 3 cocktail drinks, and an appetizer. We paid $157. Not bad at all for all that food and cocktails! Definitely give this restaurant a shot if you're ever in town!

FACILITY: Small, limited seating indoors with very nice, fun, outdoor seating areas. Love this place. MENU: Simple, easy to understand, great photos online if you have any questions. FOOD PREP: Very well done, like professional in just how it looks. FOOD QUALITY: Professional in how it also tastes... Watermelon Gazpacho was perfect with drinks prior to main. LIBATIONS: drinks and bartender were excellent, fun, and the photo print was very cool. WAITSTAFF: just so nice, and fun making the experience all that much better. We have been enjoying The Plaza Theater so spending a little more time in Palm Springs and this will be one of our favorites places to relax prior to an event. OVERALL VALUE: Good, but it is Palm Springs, outdoors, great locations, classy.. no, not inexpensive but well worth it. TIP: I'd say be nice, be patient, and you will get a table. Don't be an angry rude touron, we don't need that vibe and we see some of that in PS.. You can try for reservations, not sure if they take off season.

What we also found out, it was happy hour going on. Didn't even know this place offered happy hour as we've only been for breakfast and brunch. When we arrived it was slow. The whole patio area that's part of the restaurant and the side where the sidewalk was were both emptied. That in between time where brunch was finished and they were setting up dinner. Even with the mister and some of the shade, it was still pretty hot out so we opted for the patio section by the restaurant. We've never seen this menu so it was new to us. Honestly wanted their brunch menu but it was too late. The waitress working was basically doing everything as she was the only one on deck. Hostess, waitress and bartender. It did start to pick up while we were there. Drink wise, one of their Bloody Mary which comes with a slice of bacon and their lemon drop. Both very tasty. Food, an order of the ahi tuna salad. Seared tuna on top of mixed greens with crunchy onion, tomatoes, avocados and a really delicious ginger dressing. Quite tasty. The beet salad with added chicken. Beets tossed in a mixed greens with feta and roasted chicken. That too was quite nice. Lastly the veggies burger. Simple burger Pattie with all the trimming and served with seasoned fries. Of course the truffle fries were needed which was part of the happy hour. I can truly say that this place has amazing seasoned fries that's always a must for us. I didn't expect to see a different menu as were used to brunch but it was nice. Service was good for us as it wasn't too busy when we arrived with only one waitress working. It's a place that brunch is amazing hence we're alway back for that. I can say I've tried their other menu now.

We had the strangest experience here. We were in town for a friends 40th and we had seen great…read morereviews about The Thirsty Palms. We walked up, no reservation. The lady at the door told us inside would probably be loud because there were two bigger tables in there. It was hot outside, so we decided to sit inside anyway. We almost immediately regretted that and wished we'd sat outside. This place is not made for being busy on the inside. It's just too loud. But, cute in there. Our server, who we later learned was the bartender and not a usual server, took our drink orders. A few of us ordered the Hugo spritz, one gal got a beer, and a few other cocktails were ordered. We got our drinks and they were enjoyable. The problem began when we were ordering food. One girl in our group is Celiac and literally can not eat gluten. She ordered the salmon and asked to be sure the potato salad was gluten free. If things are fried or prepared in the same place as gluten objects, she is incredibly ill for weeks afterwards. She has to be super careful. His response was, "I think so." She told him she was celiac and had a true gluten allergy, and she needed him to be sure. Meanwhile, the menu boasts about how they proudly serve gluten free options right on the bottom. He then said, "yeah, I'm pretty sure it is." He genuinely did not seem concerned. She ended up ordering it but felt uncomfortable about whether or not it was really safe for her. Another girl at the end of the table asked him to please double check, as it was really a serious allergy. He said, "Yeah I am going to ask the chef. I wasn't going to just ignore it and make all you girls mad." He had the snarkiest tone when he said it, and it was incredibly, incredibly rude. That right there gave us a bad taste in our mouths. He came back out and said he checked with the chef, and it was indeed gluten free. Food came out and all tasted good. But when a restaurant prides itself on gluten free options, and then makes it so hard to order, it's not a good look. We wouldn't be back.

I made reservations at MG's, based on online recommendations, and were welcomed so warmly by the staff and manager. They seated us at a nice, spacious booth and promptly took our drink order. We were greeted by our waiter, George, shortly thereafter and welcomed as first timers. George was incredibly helpful with appetizer suggestions and explaining specials and options for sharing. The wait-staff was incredibly attentive with water and drink refills, bread and butter, continuously asking if we needed anything. I ordered the mushroom soup (for an appetizer) based on the online reviews. And I DON'T like mushrooms!!!! It was AMAZING! (I liked it so much that I went back the next day to get it again! LOL) We shared the Caesar and Mamma Gina salads, cheese ravioli w/ alfredo sauce, shrimp scampi and pasta bolognese. Everything was beyond wonderful! The manager came over to check on us and make sure we were enjoying everything. Our waiter, George, continued to check and see if we were happy with the food and needed anything. I can't say enough positive things about the food, ambiance and experience at Mamma Gina's. I highly recommend dining there for any/all occasions. The dining room has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that feels family-friendly while still maintaining an upscale ambiance. It was also nice to be greeted with complimentary bread service--something that seems to be disappearing from many restaurants these days. Service was good overall, although our server could have been a bit more attentive. The manager stopped by our table to check on us, which was appreciated and added a nice personal touch. For my entrée, I ordered the Spaghetti alla Carbonara, and it was fabulous. The smoky pancetta paired perfectly with the sauce, which had just the right amount of creaminess--not too rich and not too dry. My husband chose the Cannelloni alla Fiorentina, homemade crepes filled with fresh ricotta and spinach, topped with tomato sauce and béchamel. He thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Our daughter ordered the filet. It was cooked perfectly and incredibly tender, though the flavor was a bit more subdued than expected. To finish our meal, we shared the Crostata al Cioccolato, a flourless chocolate tart with an almond butter crust. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect ending to the evening. We highly recommend Ristorante Mamma Gina and only wish we had a restaurant like this in our hometown.

We got some drinks to start! I ordered the espresso martini and they were able to do decaf for me! It was one of the most creamy and delicious ones I've had! We did family style and there was still enough food to go around for all of us girls! Next we got some apps: - Beet Salad - I don't typically like beets but this was delicious! The grapefruit went surprisingly well with the beets. - the Garlic Knot - garlicky, fluffy perfection, 10 of these please! - Fried Squash - also not a fan of squash either but this was executed really well as it complemented well with the dip that came on the side. Annnnd for the main course we ordered: - Rigatoni - pasta was perfectly al dente, the meat sauce was tasty and i kept going back for more of this dish - Pesto - loved the unique pasta used for this dish, pesto's always a good idea! - Tagliatelle - this one was my least favorite pasta dish out of all but still good, just not as memorable - Birba (pizza) - wow! this is one of the more unique pizza's i've tried. it was like a flavor bomb in my mouth. the hint of sweet from the honey and the chili oil combined added a kick - chef's kiss. I'd come back to PS just to get this again! - Homemade Classic (pizza) - this was also delish as well! I love mushroom and this was packed full of them, tasty! Last but not least we had to top off the meal with some desserts! We did not expect the portions to be so large as dessert usually comes in smaller plates but wow! 9 of us girls couldn't even finish half of it and we had to take it home. What we ordered: - Tiramisu - this had a nice and cloudy texture, your typical tiramisu but wow can I taste the alcohol in this lol! - Salted Caramel Pudding - this was amazing! Not too sweet and the consistency was bouncy and smooth, just how pudding should be :) 10 of these too please!! - Olive Oil Berry Cake - this is my first time ever trying the viral olive oil cake and i'm glad they had this as an option so I can finally try what all the hype is about! This was fluffy and light, just the way I like it! It's like a lighter pound cake! Our food came out quickly and the servers were nice and attentive. The restaurant itself was cute as it had an outdoorsy vibe and most of the seating was outside under a tree lol. Interesting but it works!
