Having grown up coming to NC State games here my entire life, this place feels like home. We've had season tickets in the same section for years now and a steady parking spot. I love the vibe of the parking lot on game day! Everyone is ready to go! And there are plenty of porta potties so you don't have to walk into Lenovo Center each time you've gotta go. The stadium itself has plenty of bathrooms and several stations where you can buy food and drinks. The best is the brew through which has fast and convenient service! They keep ya going fast! And the kettle corn is the perfect sweet and salty snack to go with a good brew. I look forward to many a more games here at Carter Finley. read more

Home of the Wolfpack (NC State)!!! There isn't a bad view in this stadium. Being a college stadium the seats are split between being actual seats and bench seats depending where you are sitting. There are luxury boxes, like a professional stadium, if you want to call them that, that are probably reserved by the various alumni societies. Parking and getting in and out of here can be a bit convoluted. The stadium sits near the PNC arena and the State Highway Patrol and Raleigh PD are well versed in getting traffic in and out of here. Which is great because the local roads around here can be tough to navigate. The often funnel traffic onto Wade Avenue, Western Boulevard, Edward Mill Rd and I-40. I've been here twice in the last two years. Last week was for the NHL Stadium Series. Prior to that it was for my son's high school football team state championship game in 2021 (it poured). Of course I am going to rate the friendly confines of the Carter 5 stars as I have been attending since '00! (P. Rivers freshman year) On this day, actually night, 7pm kick, it was a good night to evaluate this venue. Through the years the University has done an adequate job adding, enclosing, building, and ultimately enhancing the fan experience. It only seats a modest 55k, but there is not a bad seat in the house, and it is raucous. It definitely was on this Saturday night, partially because they debuted a light show that was awesome. Concessions have come a long way too, with the addition of food trucks and alcohol service. One caveat, be prepared to pay with credit, no cash accepted. On a personal note, I attended with one of my BFF's who I had not seen since he attended the Demon Deacons game in November '18. Suffice it to say, this experience was so much better than the aforementioned. (A member of my party at '18 game who was sooo inebriated, insolent, and a total embarrassment. She has been summarily dispatched). Also, we won on Saturday, unlike in '18. If you get a chance to run with the wolves at the Carter check them out. read more

I've been to two NC State football games at Carter-Finley Stadium, once as a kid and once as an adult. In the latter game, I went to root for my alma mater, Georgia Tech. Tech, ranked 20th in the country at the time, ended up beating State, 31-23. It was a good game on a frigid, early November, Saturday night. I like Carter-Finley. It's a nice-looking stadium. It has a capacity of 57,583 which currently makes it the 8th largest football stadium in the ACC. NC State fans should thank Chuck Amato for all the renovations that took place at the stadium during his time as head coach (2000-2006). He helped turn Carter-Finley into the modern facility that it is today. In the Amato era: 1. The stadium was fully enclosed on the north and south end zones to look like a continuous ring/bowl. 2. Four levels of press and luxury/premium boxes were added. 3. The Murphy Center, featuring coaches offices, locker rooms, weight rooms, a TV studio, and a football museum, was added. I had a great time at the State-Tech game. We were seated in the lower north end zone. The field and stands looked great under the lights and the atmosphere was electric, at least compared to other ACC games I've been to. It could not, however, compare to the one SEC game I went to at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville (University of Florida). UF's game day atmosphere was on a different level; granted, their stadium can hold almost 90,000 fans (88,548). In 2018, Charlotte-based sports writer David Hale ranked Carter-Finley as the No. 4 stadium experience in the ACC (out of 12 stadiums ranked): https://twitter.com/ADavidHaleJoint/status/1011996517731688448. State routinely sells out games. There are lots of parking lots and tailgating spaces right outside the stadium. We parked in a lot not too far away and visited our friends' tailgate close to the Murphy Center. Really good experience here. The ticket entrance attendants are nice and welcoming. They always have a smile on their faces. I've been to this stadium on numerous occasions and I've always enjoyed the experience. I had section 18 row L seat 18 and there was a really good view from my seat. My seats were comfortable with cushion and back support. This seating and the game experience were well worth the purchase. The parking situation is another story. Just catch an Uber/Lyft to the event unless you have a season pass with a parking permit. read more

Currently it is referred to as "The Carter" and is home to Wolfpack Football. Being an NCSU grad--let's hear it for PRTM--I am a total fan! The stadium shares parking with PNC Arena, the NC State Fairgrounds and it's own dedicated spots. Plus neighbors cash in by letting you park in their yards. Give yourself plenty of time to park and walk. Plan a tailgate and arrive early. Be prepared. Bring your seat cushion with a back because you likely won't have one on your bleacher seat. Bring your legal items in a clear bag or purse because it's the rule and your stuff will be searched. Keeping guests safe is important. There are lots of food and drink choices, including beer! About 150 police officers work the event. Do not be the first to storm the field, you will be charged with trespassing. Do not jump down from the stands, you could break your leg--it happens. Stay in your seat, enjoy the open air stadium, easy to read scoreboard and Carolina skies. Have fun and cheer for your team. And recycle!!! They make it super easy and convenient everything almost is recycled! read more

We've been to numerous NC State games and I am quite surprised I haven't reviewed this stadium yet! Well, if it was based off my FIRST experience, it would have been quite different. Log story short, I was unaware of the NO PURSE RULE. After walking an eternity to the stadium from where we parked, I was not allowed in with my purse. My husband wanted me to just throw it out (as if). So we then had to walk all the way BACK to the car and then all the way BACK to the stadium. Needless to say, neither of us were happy campers at that point. Since then, we have purchased a CLEAR TOTE to take in. This year was our first as SEASON TICKET HOLDERS. We're basically in the nose bleed section but that's fine. I like the chair cushions/backs we get to use. I honestly have not tried any food here. Weird, I know! There seems to be a decent selection. Restrooms always have been clean. Always a good time! Go Wolfpack! read more

This stadium doesn't seem to have a bad seat in the house. I was in the upper level and still had a great view of the field. Unfortunately, that meant I had a great view of my Noles being destroyed by NC State's pack of wolves. Everyone was really friendly and concession prices were shockingly reasonable. I'm not a Wolfpack fan obviously but the wolfpack statue is worth a look on the walk to the stadium. Parking seems to be a nighmare since the stadium is a bit isolated so I took an Uber. Getting there was fine but the Uber ride lot after the game was a total disorganized cluster. I enjoyed checking this place out and will be back next time FSU plays here but minus a star for the Noles loss. read more

Many many years from now my grand kids will ask me about something I remember from my childhood, and without a shadow of a doubt I can say that I will bring up my time spent at Carter Finley Stadium. My family has had season tickets for NC State Football since at least 1997, but we have been coming to games in Raleigh since before I can remember. While I never actually attended NC State, going to Virginia Tech an instate school instead, there is a not single person that knows me that would ever question my love of all things NC State, and that love began as a toddler at Carter Finley Stadium. The Stadium in itself has changed a lot over the past 15 years and it has transformed into a top of the line facility. As a kid I used to love sitting on the hill in the endzone, sliding down it during rainy game, but not the hill is gone. In its place is a few thousand more seats as well as the Murphy Football Center (a true site if you ever get to go into it). The West Side of the stadium still looks brand new even though it was redone about 10 years ago. If you want to see what the stadium used to look like head to the middle of the East stands, as they have been pretty much been untouched, but still have a great welcoming feel to them. The concessions are all reasonably priced, and bathrooms for the most part seem fairly clean (watchout on the east side still a little dated). No matter what the weather is like outside, Carter Finley is always shaking on game day, especially when a top ranked team or UNC is in town. Parking is also easy, as between the fairgrounds and PNC Arena there are more then enough space to park. I have been to every Division 1 stadium in North Carolina and I can honestly say through my red colored glasses that Carter Finley is the best place to be on a Saturday afternoon in the Fall. read more

I love that you can Yelp about stuff like this! I experienced my very first Wolfpack game Saturday night for the opener, and wow, it's like a real football stadium. I had no idea. I also had no idea I should have worn red. (Ugh, I was the only fool there NOT wearing red--thankfully my co-worker lent me her red visor.) ANYWAY, I have no allegiance to any NC school here, so I just went with the majority on this one. It was so energetic and fun, and the stadium was really nice--Jumbotron screens, we had great seats, (lucky enough to have the ones with the butt cushions and backs to them.) Their marching band is awesome, there's tons of stadium snacks and beverages. I was also surprised that the drinks were not astronomically expensive--$3 for a coke that came with a plastic cup and ice, not too shabby. Even if you weren't into football (which I'm not really), you could have a great time enjoying the evening and a cold drink. They also entertain you every second that the game isn't being played. Plus, if you were fortunate enough like me to have some nice bench neighbors, you might even score some free peanuts! Every staff member was helpful and friendly, and had a smiling face when we were leaving. Probably because the Pack won 48-7. I'd love to go back to Carter-Finley again! read more

Carter-Finley Stadium is the newly-renovated home of the NC State Wolfpack and arguably the best college football stadium in the region. With new, state-of-the-art scoreboard LCD displays, you can get a great view of not only the field, but the big-screen replays from most anywhere in the stands. The concessions are fairly well-discributed, and the wait at any is usually not unbearable. If you're a smoker or a drinker, be prepared to be disappointed somewhat - smoking is allowed only in one small area near the main gate and (like all college venues) alcohol is not served inside. Not to worry, though, because before any game the parking lots are filled with students and adult fans alike who are fully enjoying their alcoholic beverages. If you're a tailgater, you probably know that Carter-Finley is certainly well-known in that aspect. Recent regulations, though, have limited tailgating to 4 hours before football games...before that, you won't be able to get into the lots. For big games, you'll probably not be getting a ticket unless you've got connections or a lot of cash to spend, but if you play your cards right, you can catch a lesser game on the (relative) cheap. For this season's game vs Florida State, for example, I bought tickets through GoPack.com the day of the game for only $24 each. Not bad for a Thursday night ESPN primetime game on short notice. read more

This stadium is barely recognizable as the one I first attended as an NC State freshman in 1988. The grass hill replaced will both end zone seating and the Murphy Football Center is the first big difference and the completion of the Vaughn Towers with their luxury boxes is the second. It also seems like it is a lot easier to get in and out of the stadium these days. All told it's a huge improvement from my undergraduate days, now it's time for us to field a team worthy of it! read more

If you walked in from the opposite side from the press box, Carter-Finley stadium would make no sense to you. You'd walk through the ancient entrance feeling as if you were headed though the entrance to a high school stadium. You'd walk past the old concession stands, still unimpressed. Then, once you stepped into the stadium itself, you'd be struck with the majesty of one of the nicest stadiums there are out there. I might miss the old grassy hills, but since the new seats and new buildings went up - to say nothing of the amazing wolves on a rock statue out in front of the stadium (front meaning facing Trinity...although the entrace facing the RBC Center is not without a majesty all its own) - Carter-Finley officially has the feeling of a big time stadium for a big time football program. All of that might be lost if you go there for a rare concert or non-football usage, but just know that this place has grown amazingly and become quite the football destination over the last ten years. Now if only the team could catch up to its facilities... read more

Carter-Finley Stadium is a fun place to watch an NCSU football game. I have not been here for any other events, but at least for football, there is not a bad seat in the place. You have good views from any spots (even those very high seats) and it is a very energetic stadium. The bleacher seats are pretty tight and sometimes I have found that it is hard for me to stay on my actual seat number since people tend to want to space out a little. However, this is really just one minor criticism. The food and drink prices are reasonable (no alcohol is served - which isn't a big deal since most people choose to tailgate prior to games). The bathrooms are not the best I have seen in a stadium, but aren't horrible either. My biggest issue with Carter Finley is the lack of non-student or permit parking nearby for football games - be prepared to pay a lot of money for a spot or to walk 1+ mile to get to the stadium. All-in-all a good place to catch a game. read more

It's a great venue, and even better now that they've added so many seats in the last few years and made it a bowl. It's a fantastic place to watch college football, easy to get into and out of, bathroom and concession accessibility is top notch, and it is well maintained. There really isn't a bad seat in the whole place. I've had football season tickets for almost 2 decades and I've sat all over the place. I do have some seat preferences, but everywhere I've sat has been great. Make sure you review the bag rule and what you can carry into the stadium, the rules have changed in the last couple of years. read more

I love coming here at least 7 times a year to cheer on the Wolfpack!!!! There is really not a bad place to sit; the bathrooms are big and clean, the staff is always so nice and helpful. This is a great venue to take the kids to enjoy a game it is a very family friendly place and atmosphere. Traffic getting in or out is not a problem for me because I tailgate and get there with enough time; others who come close to game time or want to leave right after the game might have a difficult time leaving and finding a close place to park that is not 2 miles away. The results of the game might not be what we want every time but the friendships that are formed and the camaraderie. Cant wait for next season and all the good times that are to come! read more

I basically grew up in Carter Finley Stadium. When I first got to NC State there was no Jumbotron, no Murphy Center and no advancements in technology. During the Chuck Amato era NC State completely changed Carter Finley Stadium. It now holds over 55k and there are three jumbotrons. If you get the opportunity, go check out the Murphy Center. It is fantastic. One thing you will want to remember is that the home side is in the shade for the hot summer games. It can be a 10 or 15 degree difference. In the fall and winter months it can get quite cold on the home side. read more

I was here for a concert. No not just any concert, but to see the Queen. Queen Bey! My friend and I purchased tickets to the Raleigh concert because the Atlanta concert was sold out. Fast forward a week later and they've added a second Atlanta show *rolls eyes* Anyway, I'd do it again because we had a blast at this concert. The venue is what this is all about because we all know this concert was FLAWLESS. Because it's an outdoor venue we were prepared for inclement weather and it came. It rained most of the concert, but we were prepared with ponchos in tow. And I didn't feel sorry for the people getting drenched because the forecast called for rain a whole week prior to the concert. Anyway, it started to thunder and lightning was after, so the concert was temporarily suspended. This is where Beyonce or maybe the venue gets brownie points. They moved everyone calmly to the PNC arena, which was a few feet away until the lightning ceased. The staff seemed prepared and calm as they directed droves of people next door. After about 30 minutes the lightning was gone and the concert continued. There was still rain, but being the professional Beyonce is the show continued on. Now the venue closed down the concessions after we transitioned back, but most people had eaten. The parking was not the best. I'm not sure how they handle this during their football games, but we parked way up the street and jumped on someone's golf cart and beat many of the cars that were in line with us. I will say getting out of the concert in your car was much easier than getting in. The police were there and directed everyone out. I won't go to another outdoor concert with a chance of rain. I took this risk because it was Beyonce. read more

Stones-horrid venue mostly due to staff. $20 for parking-get your money and they disappear with no direction to where to park. $250 for a ticket and your on your own in the stadium. Section 6 seating line started in Mens room and 100 people long. One moron checking tickets and blaming people not finding seats. Who would think seat 1 is in the middle of the section. No wonder and no one around to help. Oh yeah-looking fir my seat when security practically knocks me over because someone reported weed-at a Stones concert-what a surprise. The stadium has been updated nicely through the years. I have been attending games here for many years. The team support is very high now and the fan support at the games is very enthusiastic. The pre game tail gating scene was very impressive. On my visit the Wolfpack squeaked out a win in an exciting game that went down to the final seconds, so that was a big plus as well. I loved the statuary in front of the wolves, very impressive. read more

Shamefully, I've been working at NC State for nearly 20 years and since I am not a football fan, I've never been to the stadium on a game day. I have passed through the place dozens of times for work, and witnessed the renovations and additions of the Murphey Center and Vaughn Towers as well as the brand new jumbo tron, but never tailgated or saw a game. My loss! Yesterday I had my first ever tailgating barbecue with corn hole and lots of cold beverages. It was a memorable day. One that will not soon be forgotten. So if you are like me, not that interested in sports, but like to have fun on the weekends with friends and family, give it a try. You'll be saying "GO PACK" and let's go back in no time! read more

You can't go wrong with Carter Finley Stadium. This is where the Wolfpack play. I spent many years as a child and adult coming to games in this stadium. I still remember sitting back and my dad talking about the players names on the walls. It was a place of togetherness, a place of excitement. I loved being here, because it was my team. If you are looking for a thriller of a game, grab good seats at carter Finley for their next game. Also, be ready to tailgate, State has some of the best tailgating in town!! GO PACK!!! read more

I recently took my daughter to the Beyonce Formation concert. The venue was great and her performance was AMAZING! The only thing that put a damper on our night was the parking lot. It rained all day the day of the concert and part of their parking lot is grass which in rain turned into mud! The concert ended late and at least 15-20 cars (including) mine were stuck in the parking lot for about an hour!!!! Thank God for the police and the event staff. They were able to help us maneuver ourselves out of the mess! NC State should consider laying concrete down since these are actual parking spaces with a parking block placed for each spot. read more

Traffic control after the NC State vs Clemson game 19-Sep-13 was the worst I have ever experienced. Poor management by officials.

I've gotta tell you. I've been to many concerts in various states, and in various venues. The handling of the concert that I attended at Carter Finley this evening was by far the most profoundly inept that I've encountered. Everything from the interstate signs directing drivers into the traffic gridlock to the lack of traffic control at intersections from the interstate to the venue to the lack of signage on surface streets indicating traffic patterns and to the staff at the venue itself who could not possibly have cared less about so much as knowing the section they were standing near, let alone assisting with seating, as they clearly were only there to catch the show themselves, it all was a complete disaster, and one I will caution others to avoid in the future. What confuses me is how they are able to manage football games without the level of confusion and chaos that exists when they try to host a concert with 20,000 less attendees. What gives?? You know to expect traffic issues at events, and to allow extra time, but to spend nearly 3 hours at a crawl to go less than 3 miles? Flagrantly unacceptable, and a huge fail. I feel bad for the ticket holders who never arrived, and equally for those who live or work in the area and who were caught up in the nightmare traffic jam that consumed the area. Carter Finley should stick to hosting football games. Concerts are clearly too difficult for the staff and city to manage with any level of order and efficiency. read more
