THE GREAT: I am very into consignment stores and I know my brands etc. This place floors me with their product. I cannot get over some of the designer items I have found here at outrageous prices. I feel like I'm a winner every time I come here because I get beautiful pieces as such great prices. THE NOT SO GREAT: Selling. Their process must be working because their inventory is outstanding. But it's not great to sell here. They take little and the money they give you doesn't cover the gas cost to get there. A waste. Bring your stuff across the street to Uptown Cheapskate (who's shopping experience is...gritty, not in a good way) or up to Crossroads Culver City (the best of the best, in my opinion). Pants. How are the pants and denim organized? Un-discernable. Any method other than organizing by size is laughable. I don't even look at pants here ever because who has time to search for the size tags? I went to 2nd Street to sell some clothes, and they do things a little differently. Usually when you sell clothes, you get the option of cash or store credit. The only option here was cash. This was also the lowest I've ever been offered for clothes. Places like Plato's Closet, Buffalo Exchange, and Uptown Cheapskate give you way more for your items. They had a $1 pile, meaning items they were willing to pay me one dollar for. And then they had a 10‑cent pile, meaning they were willing to pay me ten cents for certain items. Yes, ten cents. For 10/12 pieces, they offered me around $6.30. It was laughable. Actually laughable. So if you're looking to sell your items for dirt cheap, this is the place. On a lighter note, they did have a lot of nice things for sale; secondhand, some new, some designer, really great quality pieces at good prices. I got a really nice pair of green cargo pants for $12. I've been a customer at this store for about two years now, and I wanted to share my recent experiences that really stand out to me. Over the past year, l've noticed a big improvement in how things are run, and I truly think the new store manager deserves credit for that. In previous years, when I brought in clothes to sell, my experiences with some of the buyers felt very unprofessional, in fact I had multiple bad experiences with one of the female buyers that I notice still works there. She was very rude and condescending and now when I come in to sell I specifically don't want her to attend me. However, this year has been a completely different story. The newer buyers seem much better trained, more organized, respectful, and clear in how they take care of their customers. The whole process feels smoother and more customer-focused now, which makes a huge difference. In fact, today I had a question about the pricing of some of my items and the new store manager was very helpful and I left feeling very happy! Because of these positive changes, I actually look forward to bringing items in again, and I feel more confident in the process when working with the newer staff. Overall, I'm glad to see the progress and hope it continues in this direction. I have also recommended this location to my family and friends and they love the store! read more

The good: I love curated thrift shops like this because the clothes are already preselected for you and you don't have to dig as deep as you would in places like Goodwill (though Goodwill prices are definitely cheaper). So, there are definitely trendier items here and clothes are organized based on different trends as well (Y2K, designer, vintage, etc). I like the openness and brightness of the store. It resembles its other location in LA. I like that the racks aren't overcrowded with too many items so you can actually slide the coat hangers and look at the items. I got 2 jackets and culotte pants from here. Each were $12.99. The store was very nicely organized and even had an armchair to lounge on. The shoes were in good condition. The bad: I saw several tops with holes, snags or frayed fabric. They don't have healthcare worker discounts like the thrift shop across the street has. The interesting: You can bring in 5 items at a time in the fitting room. One of the workers at the register was on her phone a lot but perhaps she was looking up values/prices of the clothes she was labeling? They do buy clothes here. read more

Whether your budget is $20 or $2000 for an outfit, you are sure to find it here. It was a random stop on my way somewhere else. I was at the very corner light when I took note of the sign. Curiosity for the best of me and since I had time, I made a stop. It's like a high-end (but not really... but sort of?) 2nd hand store. They have really nice for used items. It goes to show they really and carefully handpick what they sell. I scored myself a pair of Pumas for the bargain price of $16.90. I looked it up and can retail from $89.99 up to $595.00. (I was kinda floored.) I also found a couple of things for my Mom - also for bargain prices (2 items under $10/each!) But they do also sell high end items with high end prices. (Not my thing, but if it's yours, this might be the place!) They charge a buck for a bag - pay it. Side story: the cashier who rang my stuff up almost forgot to give me one even after she rang it up. Meh. But yes - this could be a place for bargain hunters. Will return! read more

Nice spot to find some unique items in a more organized fashion than other secondhand shops. Coming to any secondhand shops like this is usually a treasure hunt, sometimes you leave with something good or something you weren't even looking for, but can also leave empty handed. Each 2nd Street is really dependent on the people that sells there so for this location, I usually come here for streetwear or some vintage/Y2K clothing from the bigger brands like Polo or Carhartt. There's a small selection of luxury items but it's nowhere close to their Costa Mesa location, but my friends have been able to find some Chrome Hearts for their collection. I've only sold some stuff here when they run bonuses but even then, don't expect a high price for items. 2nd Street tend to curate it a bit more and it really depends on the buyer they have that day. They are also seasonal so will not really buy shorts in the winter or jackets in the summer, unless that jacket is a piece that they move at any season. I brought a bunch of mall brand shirts, pants, hoodies and jackets, they ended up taking 40+ of my items and it just netted me around $60, with the highest being a skate brand jacket with many fetching only $1. It's just good to help clear closet and have a bit of pocket cash. For the truly unique items or streetwear pieces that I know will fetch a higher amount, I still sell elsewhere. There's also another second hand shop across the street but that place you really gotta dig, but they do offer slightly higher prices and accept many items that 2nd Street does not. read more

Ok I'm sorry to give this opinion but it has happened twice . I brought things in for resell . Clean, great items . I thought ok I will sell a few things and purchase a few things . Nope ... they wanted to seven items of various BRAND LABELS from me and the offer was 5.30$ !!! I refuse said I would rather donate them . I took them to a different resell shop and honestly , I got over 25.00$ . The negatives : Unfair for reselling l compared to other like stores . Twice the counter persons at different times did this as I thought it was the person reviewing the items to buy at the initial time I went months before. The first time was a new baseball style cap for 30 cents hahaha that is the truth . I said keep it . The wait time is also long . I was at 2nd Street flipping through the pants when I got cut by a sharp button that was partially falling off a pair. The back of the button had exposed metal prongs, and one of them actually punctured my finger. I showed it to an employee, gave them the pants, and let them know I was injured--no apology, no concern, just a "thank you." Later, when I made a purchase, I asked if they could offer even a small discount considering I was physically hurt in their store by an item they were selling. The answer was just "no, we don't do discounts." It's not even about the discount--it's about how little they seemed to care. No acknowledgment, no empathy, no responsibility. got rid of all my Depop inventory here they slayyy , don't expect much $$$ but it's good to get rid of your stuff here. Takes a bout an hour or 2 to get a call back about your buy but there's plenty to do in the area like go kill time at the mall. The Manager here is always flirting with the same coworker behind the counter every time I come in. He's the Hispanic guy and is always flirting with the Hispanic girl dressed in all black. I asked one of the workers on the floor if this is always how it is and they said it's like they are in their own world ignoring the rest of the staff and work to be done. I wouldn't mind if they did my buy quickly but I drop off my buy and I stay in store to wait. They are flirting and talking about things other than my clothes the entire time. The other buyer next to them looked annoyed because they were picking up the slack. It took them AN HOUR to do my buy I literally only had 6 items and I was #2 in line. An hour because they were cup caking instead of working. This is the 2nd time this has happened with my buy but every time it's the same experience when I come to shop. They are behind the counter not assisting customers and it's very obvious what is going on outside of work. The Manager here needs to be more professional and get a grip because the store is always a mess and the buys take too long because of flirting and unprofessional behavior. read more

I went here to sell my clothes with the expectation of getting anywhere between 10 cents to $5 based on the reviews. I was told it would take about 30 mins which was a reasonable time frame given that when I arrived, there was only one person's items being looked at. 30 mins go by and I see that the female employee who was working on appraisals took another person's items for review. I thought that was fine since it looked like they only had a few pieces to sell. I kid you not this employee took another 30 mins examining ONE piece of clothing to the point where I just took my stuff back because as a clothing appraiser, I feel like you should either know what to look for when researching the legitimacy and value of an item or you don't. It shouldn't take more than half an hour to check one piece of clothing. Wasted an hour here and for what? Just to get paid dirt??? Don't waste your time selling here and just go across the street at Uptown Cheapskate and get a little bit more for your pre loved items with respect. read more

Do NOT waste your time here. The customer service is horrible. Terrible. I was completely ignored. I dropped my bag of clothing off and was told it was a 3.5 hour wait which is ridiculous to begin with but fine I'll come back. I come back and I'm told they would like to take some of my clothing items (some were still new with tags) and my pair of high top Vans that were worn twice. When he told me what they wanted to give me I literally thought it was a joke... TEN. CENTS. Yes. Per clothing item. Even the new with tags. Oh and my almost new Vans? ONE DOLLAR. I think this store is the cleanest "second hand store" I've been to. The lighting is nice and bright, they have the A/C going, clothing racks spaced out well- to sum it up, it doesn't feel like you're at a Goodwill. They also carry an even amount of men's and women's clothing, so it's a good place to buy and sell both. For selling your items, see the process in the attached pictures. You walk up to the front, they look at your ID and ask for your number, give you a receipt, and they will quote you a time to review your items. The quote is usually an hour + unless you go first thing when they open, then it's like 30 mins. They really take their time reviewing the items, so it's best to return later than wait in the store. They will call you when they're done. I've never sold luxury items here, mostly "fast fashion" items. Comparing to my experience selling at other similar stores (uptown cheapskate across the street or crossroads trading), they take more items than the stores mentioned but they give you a lower value for each of your items. They'll take like 10-20 things but will give you $0.10, $1, or $2 for each. So if your goal is to get rid of items you don't want but also get some pocket change for a coffee instead of taking them to the back of Goodwill, this is a good deal. If you're looking to make a little more money on your items, go to Uptown Cheapskate across the street. (My routine is to go there when they open and 10 am then being the leftovers to here when they open at 11am). For items they didn't pick, if you want to donate the rest, they will also give you $0.01 for each item (Reference my buyout summary photo). The payout is cash only, unlike other stores mentioned above who give a higher value if you choose store credit. For buying, prices are $5,9,16,19,23, etc. it will go upwards for luxury/vintage/outerwear/shoes,etc. The store is divided in half for women's and men's clothing. The items are only organized by style and color, not sized. This is fine for clothes but I wish they would at least size the shoes. I can probably make any size clothing work (and sizes vary by brand anyway) but I can't fit my size 6 foot into a size 9 shoe. The style of clothes here I feel like are more classic than trendy. They do carry trendy pieces but I feel like what they have is more timeless (I'm really comparing to Uptown Cheapskate across the street which only has Y2K stuff right now). read more

They can negotiate if you're selling (somewhat) but no discounts if you're buying. Surprising that a store selling used items won't negotiate. Not sure why the reviews are so bad (maybe from disgruntled folks who are selling and not getting back much??) Tho, thrift stores are places that encourage people to reduce their textile waste so I understand that getting back a few cents might feel like a slap in the face if you spent $$$ before and might deter one from donating.. but better a few cents than letting the clothes rot in your closet?? As a customer, this place was fantastic! best thrift store I've been to: 1. Prices were like a true thrift store (got a cute top and skirt $5 ea and a cute dress $12). 2. I arrived while the store was still open, at least online it said it was open, I was coming to look at one thing and would be able to be in and out, but was not let in and told it was closed. There were other people inside, but the employee wouldn't even open the door to tell me they were "closed", even though it was during hours of operation. They sort all their clothes by color and don't have any size indicators on the hangers. If you're specifically looking for a purple shirt, this method works but if you're browsing, it's a horrible system. You have to try to look through everything the store to try to find your size and much of the stuff is not worth your time. The shoes are all thrown throughout the store without any size groupings. Man, the reviews for this store are all over the place! I haven't tried to sell any clothes here (and pretty much never try) so maybe that's a chunk of the negative experience. I don't wear anything particularly fancy or nice so I never try to sell. Anyway, I've been here twice so far and am really impressed with the look of the store. It feels like a boutique, yet it's all used items. Racks are laid out well and items are attractive. I haven't bought anything but I do like browsing the store. It even smells nice! I tend to be a Goodwill gal, but this place is a significantly nicer experience. Whenever I've checked out a price, they seem pretty reasonable. $8-12 for a shirt. Nothing too crazy. They have lots of sneakers and accessories if that's your thing, too. Plenty of selection for everyone alike. read more

If you have any plans of selling any of your old clothes here, I don't suggest you do. I brought a whole bag of gently used, branded, clothing to see if I could get anything for them. They quoted me a 2 hour wait. When I came back, they offered to buy 3 shirts and a pair of heels for FORTY-NINE CENTS. I'm used to selling clothes at other places like Plato's and Uptown Cheapskate and I know not to go in with high expectations, but to offer less than a dollar for multiple pieces of clothing is highly insulting especially since they resell for such higher prices. This store really is something. I went in twice trying to sell some shoes. The first day, it was fine, they said the wait was 2 hours but I could come back. I asked if I could leave my items for them, and come back tomorrow morning. They said they don't "hold items." The employee was really weird too. Second day I call ahead and she says they'll stop accepting at 3. I come in before 3, and they can't take my items because they're too busy. Don't waste your time! I took in 35-40 shirts, several brand new w/ tags (including brands like Tommy Bahama, Ted Baker, Tommy Hilfiger) and all the others in like new condition. Everything washed and folded in bags. When I returned to the store they quoted me a total of $32. $32?! The brand new with tags Tommy Bahama shirt alone had a retail price of $129.99 and this place offers me $1. Their reasoning - "We have a new pricing plan". Clearly this pricing plan is to extremly low-ball their offers. What a pathetic joke this place is! And as if that ain't bad enough, they just stuffed all the shirts back into the bags instead of folding them as I had done. Very disrespectful and a complete waste of time. Clean secondhand store with a nice curated selection of clothes organized by style/look. The organization makes for a good shopping experience. Wide range of styles across all prices ranges from luxury, Japanese designer, and hype on the high end to American casual, skater, outdoor, vintage on the lower end. Buyback is a bit hit or miss. They pay 40% of what they believe an item will sell for (if they can sell it for $100, you can expect $40). Even still I feel I was lowballed on a few items, but I did get a fair price on other items and getting to unload a ton of clothes at once is worth the exchange since I get paid out right away and they're now taking the risk as a business by holding inventory until it sells. There are long wait times for buyback, so find something to do in the area in the meantime. Friday and weekends are busiest and I waited 4 hours for my estimate on Friday. I think most of the negative reviews are from people who over value their own clothes. Most brands that people think are "brand name" aren't as desirable as they think. But if you're knowledgeable about clothes, you can find items for a good price and get a decent payout on any old clothes read more
