Burnt over peppery biscuits and gravy
    Zac M.

This was not a great experience! I want to start by saying that I try to support local when I can! I'm from out of town but know many people in Anderson and I think a lot of them can agree that the town is mostly consumed by chain fast food restaurants. I was really in the mood for breakfast food, and I was told about this place by a local friend of mine I just wanna say the service and staff was very friendly, and they were very pleasant and very personal. I ordered their biscuits and gravy with eggs which on their menu is listed for $9.00. Personally, I kind of thought that was a lot for nominee than what it said, but compared to some of the other items on the menu I thought it was just because of how big the portions were. I even specifically asked the cashier how big they are and she told me they're huge two piece biscuits that are cut in half made fresh every morning. To my surprise, when I got home, it look like two tiny biscuits that were burnt with a gravy that had way way too much pepper and then tiny side order of cold eggs I just called and let them know that whoever made the biscuits that they were burnt so unfortunately I really didn't get to enjoy the biscuits and gravy because the biscuits were burnt and there was so much pepper. I couldn't stand the gravy so I ended up paying $9 dollars for a side of cold eggs. When I spoke to the lady on the phone, she just said I'm sorry I'll let them know. There's nothing else I can do. If I'm being completely honest, this food tastes like someone that's NEVER cooked a day in their life. I hope that they run across this and see this as constructive criticism, and not just a bitchy customer.

I had the western skillet with 2 pancakes & it all was really good! My daughter had the Club sandwich with mash potatoes & she loved it as well. My best friend had the chicken Philly & thought it was amazing Definitely stop in if you're in the area! We will next time we're here.

My friend decided on their biscuits and gravy whereas I got pancakes with over-hard eggs and sausage. The woman there is very nice and makes you feel very welcomed. Food was good, pancakes just soaked up the syrup, and the sausage had a good snap to them. Eggs were cooked just right, and it all came out fairly quick. My friend had also gotten a coffee, and when we were done she had asked if he wanted any to-go, which he obliged to, and she put some in a cup for him to take with along with creamer, which I thought was super awesome. You don't see that much anymore where the service is just so polite and thoughtful. As we were about to leave, under the register is where all their pies sit, and I noticed a good looking peanut butter one, so we got two slices to-go as well. She really sold me by mentioning how they also do a banana pie, and to check up on their Facebook for updates and such saying how she posts on there frequently for the diner. I know I definitely will be getting more pie from there next time I'm in the area! The peanut butter pie was more of a whipped filling, so not too overwhelmingly decedent or heavy. The crust was also like a chocolate graham crust, and it really paired well to offset the peanut butter. If you're looking for a cute place to stop by and try, I highly recommend this one. Especially if you like pie!

When I tried order off the menu to see if I could get a trout and steak combo, my server tried very hard to make this happen, but gave up. She could have asked a manager, but it was not important enough for me to pursue the matter. But, she was very sweet and was very helprul the rest of the time. Pittsburgh Rare steak preparation involves charring the exterior on a very hot flat-top and serving it rare. What I got was not this, as I could immediately tell by the fact that it had noticeable grill marks. They just cooked as usual for a rare order. With a NY Strip steak, you expect some connective tissue, but not this much. It was hidden also in the muscle of the steak. I had trouble hiding all the half chewed offal on my plate. Neither did it have a great beef flavor. This summary from the internet agrees with my idea of rice pilaf, "Pilaf is a rice dish where grains are toasted in oil or butter with aromatics like onion and garlic before being simmered in seasoned broth, resulting in fluffy, separate grains." What I was served was nothing like this as I got buttered rice that clumped together. No effort was employed in plating for appearance. I got a steak on a plate and a silver colored boat on which the rice was piled. The Cole slaw served as a salad was very good. The beer was cold and as expected.
