4 of us met for Dinner on a Friday night. We did not need reservations. It was very busy when we arrived but we were sat right away. Gordon was our outstanding waiter. He was super kind and did not rush us at all. We started with bubble tea's with popping bubbles, some sushi and crab Rangoon. Our meals were delicious, perfect temperature and spice level. My favorite is the Masaman curry. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I took my Mom here for the first time this past week. They don't have General Tso's chicken which is the most popular Asian dish in the USA. The elderly gentleman taking orders was nice enough but spoke no English which is fine if you are someone who eats meals the way they come but we aren't those people. We were trying to find out if the chicken was the breast (white) meat or not and we never did establish that in conversation. We had ordered the fried green beans but he never brought those. Mom got the sweet and sour chicken and the shrimp lo mein, and she liked both. Since they had no General Chicken I got the honey chicken and it was good. I ordered a vegetable lo mein to go and my family liked it. We had to go looking for the server when we wanted to go boxes and our check. When he did come with the check he handed me a QR code and I had to go through a ridiculous process to pay the bill, something my 84 year old Mom wouldn't have been able to do. So 2 stars for communication and service and 3.5 stars for the food. I'm always one to share lots of photos with my reviews but this was so complicated I completely forgot. read more

Awesome sushi and great service. Fast and affordable! You won't be disappointed. A little hard to find - but worth the effort.

Outstanding service, Gordon treats you like family. He's great!. Portions are huge, I couldn't eat 1/4 of it. Leftovers for dinner and lunch! The food is delicious, must get hot and sour soup, lomein yummy, and Buddha's delight made special with added shrimp. They've updated dining room, beautiful new pictures. Ok so we tried a new place in Anderson since we had passed it so many times and believe it or not it surpassed our expectations. The calm ambiance and soothing music was a welcome change. The service was friendly and quick. Tom yum soup was perfectly spicy. The honey chicken was amazing but the best was their Mongolian beef. The whole family was amazed at how good it was. We paired it with fried rice which was yummy. kung pao chicken was very authentic and yummm. All in all a great experience. Can't wait to go back and try more. Lantern House Asian Bistro was amazing when they first opened up. The food was cooked well, there was plenty of it, and the value was topnotch. Unfortunately, things have kind of gone downhill the past year or so. Last night, one of my sons and I decided to go and eat at Lantern House. Walking in, you are greeted with red every where! It isn't obnoxious but fits the theme. There are also paper lanterns hangin from the ceiling and Asian art on the walls. The restaurant wasn't full when we arrived but that soon changed! We placed our order and waited. I ordered the spicy chicken with rice, and my son ordered the kung pao chicken with fried rice. Our meals were brought out after a short wait and we dug in. My immediate reaction was "Wow... the portion size has decreased. I also noticed the spicy chicken looked different from the way it used to look. The bowl of rice served with my meal was also half the size it used to be. Grabbing my chopsticks, I took a bite and was immediately disappointed. The flavor was gone as well as the spice. It reminded me a watered down sweet and sour sauce with a few chill flakes tossed in. It's a shame because the spicy chicken at Lantern House Asian Bistro was my favorite. The rice was fine, and I suppose it was the correct amount for the size of the dish but like I said, it was a shimmer of its former self. My son's kung pao chicken looked like it was one shade of dark. He said it tasted fine but again, it wasn't what I remember it to be. His fried rice was fine. The typical 'brown' fried rice you find in most American Asian restaurants. While we were eating all the tables filled up and the number of people ordering Boba Tea increased a lot. Lantern House has a walkup Boba window but apparently the window was closed because everyone came inside and placed their order at a kiosk. This presented a problem since the only person working up front was taking seating people, taking orders, serving, cleaning the tables off, handling take out for both the restaurant and the Boba shop, he was also the sole Boba Tea maker. There were times he was in back for 10 minuets trying to keep up with the Boba orders. To his credit, he made sure to talk to everyone, letting them know the status of their orders, and apologizing for the delay. To the patrons not one person was upset or angry, and was very understanding. Lantern House Asian Bistro is still the gem and stand out for Asian cuisine in the Anderson, Indiana area. Things have gone downhill a bit but the food is still tasty, the service spot on, and the value decent. I am hopeful for their future and anxious for the quality to return to what it once was. read more

I use to love this restaurant! Today I placed an order through the Toast app and everything went very smoothly! Service was friendly however the food was nothing like it used to be! The fried rice had zero flavor, the egg rolls(which used to be my favorite in town) lacked flavor and were greasy and unappetizing! The portions all got smaller while the prices go up! My sesame chicken was just lacking flavor , the veggies were over done and limp! The cheesecake for the price was average! The high light was the wonton soup I enjoyed it however the fries wontons that come on the side were over done and greasy! I don't think I will be going back! read more

They have a large menu selection and I stayed with lunch fare which included soup. Food was superb and plentiful. Prices were really good too. I hate false advertising- when it says that your meal comes with mushrooms- bok choy and etc - when you receive it and it doesn't with any explanation (we ran out of those vegetables) if you run out you can ask the customer if they would prefer to sub it for something else or just say sorry we can't make that meal right now. This was the worst meal I've had in a really long time and they served all of the meals here with chips plates and bowls (presentation was horrible) rude customer service. read more

A good start is to select from one of the freshest appetizers like Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls, Crab Rangoon Won Tons or pan seared Dumplings. The dining room is simple and clean. Service is great with friendly efficient servers always offering a smile. This family owned and operated restaurant is a local business that delivers an experience you won't forget. Absolutely love this place! The food is amazing and portions are great! It's comparable in price to your typical Asian restaurant, but quality is so much better! The crab wontons and pork egg rolls are amazing!!! On top of this, we always see the owner there working and cleaning. I tried this place today and was pleasantly surprised. The place was empty and it took several minutes for someone to come out so I almost left. Glad m stuck around. The egg rolls are some of the best I've had. The kung pao pork and fried rice were also very good. The portions were big but not ridiculously huge. I have no idea how the food is so this is purely annoyance. We went at 8 seeing the posted close was 9. I get it it's slow . Then change the information online . Don't make me search you out only to be turned away . I also think it was a last minute decision to close . The door was unlocked two workers were sitting there chatting no clean up was in progress . Months ago I would've given 5 stars, tonight was a tragedy. The nicest thing I can say is the food was good, but we waited over an hour. My order was partially incorrect. They are severely under staffed and leave the hostess/waitress out to dry. Service itself was poor, which I can slightly give grace for due to it being 1 person out front. They also would not allow us to redeem our rewards points. I want the new owners to do well, but this was unacceptable. We will not be back. read more

This review is for Tues December 29, 2020 I was looking through some my reviews and noticed I never wrote a review for this location. My Lady and I had moved into the area and were new out this way, and wanted to look for an Asian style establishment to order from so we have this a try after we had bad experiences with other locations, and to this day we still feel this place is better than other establishments. So we ordered the following: 1 Crispy Green Beans 1 Kung Pao Shrimp (substitute for Lo Mein) 1 spicy Salmon Roll 1 Great Chocolate Cake 1 Ginger Chicken (substitute for Lo Mein) 1 Shrimp Dumplings 1 Wonton Soup 1 Hokkien Street Noodles Of Course this looks like a big mean, and yes the portion sizes are in our opinion awesome like back home, but we did share these meals with one another. As far as quality, we can tell this establishment uses fresh ingredients, there is flavor and quality with their dishes. In time we will come back and other other items. You have to try Lantern House Asian Bistro if you're looking for the gambit of Asian food. the only thing that is not Asian in this place is the chocolate torte, at the end of your feast! We started with the typical Egg Drop soup and we also ordered a Dim Sum. I ordered another tray of the Dim Sum right away! After our appetizers, the ravishing Anna ordered the spicy chicken, and I had sliced beef in a mushroom sauce with a lovely and hearty amount of sliced mushrooms mixed in. We had this amazingly delicious dinner and both of us became quite aware that this place is very romantic too! In fact this restaurant is so beautifully done and it's done with such romantic feelings, that you will be sure to find on your own. We recommend this place to you if it's your first date or anniversary! This restaurant will bring you together! Just remember the number one thing you have to do at the end of your meal is to order Four Layer Chocolate cake for dessert. That alone will blow your mind. This is a great restaurant, you get what you pay for here. The kindness you show to the restaurants staff, is returned to you 100%. This new restaurant is my favorite Asian restaurant in this town! They have naturally good Chinese types of food. They also have Pad Thai which is shocking! You couldn't ask for a better evening! Ahh I'm torn as this is the best tasting asian food in Anderson that I've had. First the positives, the crab Rangoon we're perfectly made, delicious with seasoning you can see and taste. The spicy chicken was actually spicy, and tasted completely different from my girlfriends dish. Kudos! But the negatives cant be ignored. The portion served was less than half of a chicken breast, if even that much. The way items are priced, you should be able to share but portions are way too small. My girlfriend and I heard fellow diners stating the same at multiple tables. waitresses were very matter of fact that those were the normal portions and thay no other food was coming. We waited about 35 minutes for our dishes to arrive, and it wasn't terribly busy. We might try it again, but it left alot to be desired. It was like eating Chinese food from LA that is obviously fresh.
