Rustic charm of the exterior and mis-identification of this as another chain of steakhouses drew me in. I will not be back, even though I am in town once per year. When I tried order off the menu to see if I could get a trout and steak combo, my server tried very hard to make this happen, but gave up. She could have asked a manager, but it was not important enough for me to pursue the matter. But, she was very sweet and was very helprul the rest of the time. Pittsburgh Rare steak preparation involves charring the exterior on a very hot flat-top and serving it rare. What I got was not this, as I could immediately tell by the fact that it had noticeable grill marks. They just cooked as usual for a rare order. With a NY Strip steak, you expect some connective tissue, but not this much. It was hidden also in the muscle of the steak. I had trouble hiding all the half chewed offal on my plate. Neither did it have a great beef flavor. This summary from the internet agrees with my idea of rice pilaf, "Pilaf is a rice dish where grains are toasted in oil or butter with aromatics like onion and garlic before being simmered in seasoned broth, resulting in fluffy, separate grains." What I was served was nothing like this as I got buttered rice that clumped together. No effort was employed in plating for appearance. I got a steak on a plate and a silver colored boat on which the rice was piled. The Cole slaw served as a salad was very good. The beer was cold and as expected. read more

We had dinner here last night and the food and service was great. We got the hand breaded tenders with a salad and sweet potato, a pulled pork sandwich which they make the bbq sauce and it was delicious. Their fries are thicker with some crunchy breading and they were okay to me but everyone else at the table loved them. We got a bacon mushroom Swiss burger and it was delicious. We stopped for lunch yesterday here on our way home from vacation and had the best service from Jessica Hensley ( I hope I spelled that right). She was so kind and attentive. That goes a long way these days. We ate at a lot of nice restaurants on our vacation and didn't have near the service that Jessica gave us. She checked on us and made sure our drinks were full. This place is awesome. I had to go back to Anderson to attend my fathers funeral. At the end of my stay I wanted to enjoy a steak dinner with my family. There were about 15 of us and the staff were very attentive to get us seated and taken care of. The waitress got our orders taken care of perfectly and we had an absolutely fantastic evening. With a name like Montana Mike's the dining area has a very rugged theme going on. They even have animal trophies hanging from the walls. Food Drink - The menu indicated a rotating IPA. I do not even remember what the choice was but I ended up with the Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest which my waiter felt that fell into this category, which it does not. It is a classic German style beer called Märzen. Appetizer - They did provide the table with free rolls, which I did not partake in. Dinner - I went with a NY Strip, which I ordered medium as the last steak I ordered medium rare was closer to rare. If I knew they would land the perfect temp of the steak I would have gone with medium rare. I enjoyed my steak after cutting a long strip of fat off the one side. The meal came with two sides, I love having baked potatoes and my other side was the salad which I ordered with vinaigrette but received ranch. They brought the dressing in little cups which were within the salad. Enough dressing had spilt from the cups I did not need any more dressing. I am very light on the use of dressing on my salad. Service - I waiter was great and friendly. Future - Due to the location we will probably visit again as it is walking distance from the hotel. read more

When I tell you the food here is good, it is really to die for. Came up to Anderson for a some and stopped here for some food. It was better than expected. Everything came out hot and so fresh. I am very happy that Montana Mike's has reopened. It is one of 4 restaurants in the Anderson area. The Edge good food but prices are higher. Bird's Smokehouse BBQ, but only if you want BBQ. Texas Roadhouse good food but when will they learn to turn down the music. Montana Mike's every meal I have eaten there has been very good. Service good and meals are fairly priced. When I neglected to show, they called me... I thought it was 7pm. They politely made change and then accommodated our growing group as the nite progressed. Drinks were timely and fast, everyone's orders were cooked correct, not a single plate returned. Appetizers were timely and early with drinks and everyone had a seat. It's a food restaurant to visit, filled with a western theme and friendly staff. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome as we entered through the front doors. Our drink refills never went empty and she supplied us over and over again with complimentary rolls and cinnamon butter for our 4 roll-loving kiddos.
