Because they want your money and know that telling you the truth might cost them. The worst is when I complained. They said I was a "perfectionist" and made a reference to my race as a "black and white person". Spending 65% more time to do a routine matter is not being a perfectionist any more they would be if I offered to pay them 65% less than the charge. While I was in there scheduling an appointment an employee was speaking with a customer about how police are unfairly accused of racism by black people.
