Purchased in McIntosh, Al at Greers. On a trip back from Mobile area stopped at a local grocery store a whim to get wife something sweet. Upon walking in I notice King Cakes but since my wife is from Baton Rouge I think since they are shipped in from Kenner, LA she will not be happy. So I look around the store. Nothing interesting. After looking over the king cakes I pick and hope for the best. Looks wise they will be ok. Upon pulling from the box I find it individually wrapped with the baby on the side. It cuts easily and smooth. The icing on the top is a solid 5. The filling also a five. The cake itself a 4. If it was purchased at the bakery it would be a solid 5. Ordered the 3 cake bundle Jan 20, to be delivered to our business on Jan 14 for an event. Credit Card was charged but never received an email confirmation. Contacted the owner. Angelo 2 days prior to the event to try to get tracking information. Was not able to get tracking information because i didn't receive the email confirmation. Even though I provided him with the receipt from my credit card, he seemed to be unable to locate my order. The day of the event came and we did not receive our order. I have been attempting through emails and phone calls to try to get a refund and am going in circles. He keeps asking for the order number that I don't have. I provided him with a copy of the receipt where they charged my credit card but still have not been credited and now here we are in March. I placed an order on 1/11/26 with a request for delivery on 2/13/26, so I would have it for our family pust dinner on 2/17. It didn't arrive on the 13th or 14th, so I sent an email on the 15th and left a message on Angela's voicemail, but no personal reply. I did receive an email (bot) on 2/16 that the order is now ready and they "will try their best" to get it here by 2/13 . It included the packing list but no tracking number. I'm from Kenner/Metairie. Never heard of Cartozzos - I'd always go to Joes or Manny's - but decided to give them a shot for cake delivery now that I don't live in NOLA. I ordered the cakes and it took 3 days to ship out. They came via Fedex 2-day and when they arrived they were a mess. Icing all over the place, all over the outside of the box. They should pack the icing and sugar separate so it doesn't end up like this. I'm not super big on looks but I'm sharing it with my virgin co workers so I'd like it to be a good first experience for them, and the aesthetics of this cake were not that. More importantly the cake itself was not good at all. I asked for apple filling but the cake wasn't filled with the apple -- it was kind of smeared in to the top of the cake (which could explain the mess when it got here). And they put so much vanilla in to the cake that all you could taste was the vanilla extract. Every bite had a toxic aftertaste. I have a 2 and 4 year old and I gave them each a small piece just incase my palette was off for the day, and neither of them would take a second bite. Lastly the brioche was stale. I didn't expect same day freshness but it definitely tasted like it was a 4 or 5 day old cake when it got here. One of the cakes had the baby inside it - the other, the baby was just placed inside the box. I've shipped out 2 cakes every year since I moved away after Katrina, and this was hands down my least favorite cake. read more

Grabbed a king cake on our way out of NOLA at MSY to bring back to FL. After buying it, I dropped it different three times. Ugh. I was hesitant to serve it to my friends (two days after buying it,) but to my surprise it was delicious! Furthermore even after dropping it 3x (what can I say it was 5:00 am ) it still looked great. In fact, it was the best king cake I've had to date. When I need a king cake in the future I'll be ordering from Cartozzo's. Super fresh, and the packaging is solid. read more

I love the wedding King Cake.They offer so many king cake flavors including strawberry cream cheese (my favorite), as well as Pineapple cream cheese.They have a retail shop, which is nicely painted, for customers to make quick king cake purchases. I want to thank you for shipping king cakes to other areas. Mainly, my local Piggly Wiggly! I have learned since moving to FL from LA that none of the stand alone bakeries, grocery store bakeries nor mass merchandising bakeries can make a good king cake. Some don't even know what they are. I took a chance buying yours but figured my odds would be greatly improved after seeing the address where it was made and shipped from. Boy am I glad I can get a quality king cake now! I've actually had one shipped in from a known name in NOLA and paid out the wazoo for it too. I will be sure to stop in the next time I'm visiting family back home for some made fresh. Worst. King cake. Ever. As other reviewers have mentioned, the flavor was "off," the cake was dry, and there was a very weird aftertaste. Possibly the worst King Cake I've ever had. I had high hopes after reading some on-line reviews (should've check Yelp first!) that were positive. But, after this cake arrived it was disheveled looking and my fingers were crossed that the taste would be there...nope! It was really salty and dry, so dry! This King Cake was inedible!!! I ordered two king cakes to be delivered to me out of town from this bakery. The reviews were very positive in terms of quality of goods. The cakes were delivered on time as promised. However, They were completely melted and mushy when opened. The frosting was gone, obviously not protected for delivery. I reached out to the business and they are unresponsive on the matter. We ate the crawfish bowl and Hugh cinnamon roll at the Bayou Fest in Baton Rouge. There was a booth there serving delicious dishes. We thoroughly enjoy everything we ordered. The cinnamon rolls were similar to the ones I would order from Mckenzies. I miss those but these were fabulous! read more

Their "Crawfish Bread" is not good. Followed instruction exactly for heating. 1/3 of the loaf had no filling, 1/3 had the filling oozed out of the bread. The bread was doughy, and the filling was jalapeno strong! Do Not Buy This! We each tasted it and threw it away! read more

I purchased Cartozzo's crawfish bread from Rouse's (Metairie, LA) for a fish/shrimp fry dinner party. The box cover looked so deliciously tempting that I purchased two boxes at $7.99 each. The contents looks NOTHING like the cover...falsely advertised. I found two crawfish in the entire loaf on one and 5 on the other, and bread was stale and dry. I was so disappointed that I copied the box cover and snapped a picture of the bread and sent a letter to Cartozzo's Bakery and to Rouse's requesting my money back. Needless to say, I did not hear back from either company. What surprised me even more is that the box bears a stamped date that says: Best By 1/17/16. I purchased this bread in July 2016. This bread should have been removed long before this date. This explains by it was dry and stale. read more
