Cake was a mess when it arrived (I did have a tiny slice before taking this). Nothing kept it from bouncing all over the box on its way here

I'm from Kenner/Metairie. Never heard of Cartozzos - I'd always go to Joes or Manny's - but decided to give them a shot for cake delivery now that I don't live in NOLA. I ordered the cakes and it took 3 days to ship out. They came via Fedex 2-day and when they arrived they were a mess. Icing all over the place, all over the outside of the box. They should pack the icing and sugar separate so it doesn't end up like this. I'm not super big on looks but I'm sharing it with my virgin co workers so I'd like it to be a good first experience for them, and the aesthetics of this cake were not that. More importantly the cake itself was not good at all. I asked for apple filling but the cake wasn't filled with the apple -- it was kind of smeared in to the top of the cake (which could explain the mess when it got here). And they put so much vanilla in to the cake that all you could taste was the vanilla extract. Every bite had a toxic aftertaste. I have a 2 and 4 year old and I gave them each a small piece just incase my palette was off for the day, and neither of them would take a second bite. Lastly the brioche was stale. I didn't expect same day freshness but it definitely tasted like it was a 4 or 5 day old cake when it got here. One of the cakes had the baby inside it - the other, the baby was just placed inside the box. I've shipped out 2 cakes every year since I moved away after Katrina, and this was hands down my least favorite cake.

I like to begin with I order the king cake friday January 10th. I live in georgia and the weather seems not to help. On Tuesday the 14 i received my tracking number. January 16th at 2:30 i received my king cake. The taste was disgusting and the color was off. I rather pay for overnight shipping.

Shared with my household everyone complained because we're some real king cake fans.

Worst king cake I've ever had and I'm from New Orleans, it might look like king cake but doesn't taste like it very dry dough. I was craving so I gave it a try worse decision I ever made. My dad lives in Kenner so I asked him to go to this place for me since I'm in New Orleans so sorry for my dad to come all this way for crappy king cake.

My Apple King Cake was AMAZING. I definitely cheated on my diet, but it was so well worth it!

OMG I just found out about this place and it is amazing! It is worth the drive out to Kenner. You…read morewill find some of the best sweet treats here, with a variety of options to choose from. The staff are beyond nice, so helpful and professional. A must get are their stuffed cheesecake berries! You will be addicted after the first bite. These berries are dipped in white chocolate covered in a shortcake/shortbread crunch and stuffed with cheesecake. My mind was blown, that cheesecake is top tier. Run don't walk to this spot!

I arrived right around opening time and the owner, Deja, and her team were hard at work rolling cooking dough and prepping fruit. I was warmly greeted by a staff member and browsed the cases to choose my treats. It's a small shop, so not necessarily a spot you would come to and stay a while. You can do pick-up for orders placed in advance or just walk-in and grab your favorite treat; they do offer a small table in the establishment to enjoy your items right then and there if you just can't wait. They have a wide assortment of sweets--cookies, cakes, candied fruit, cupcakes, you name it. They even have chicken salad for folks looking for a savory, light lunch option. I tried the strawberry shortcake cupcake, tres leches, cheesecake salad, and ooey gooey. The tres leches and cheesecake salad were my favorites! I'd never had tres leches before and I loved it--it was slightly spongy, incredibly most, and not too sweet. It was topped with what I think was a whipped icing and a half of strawberry. I'm not sure what traditional tres leches is supposed to taste like, but this one made me hug myself and rock side to side a few times, lol. The cheesecake salad was very unique. It was bite-sized pieces of cheesecake with a cookie butter crust (OMG!) over a bed of fruit and topped with a cookie butter drizzle. Talk about good, you hear me?! The ooey gooey and strawberry shortcake cupcake were also delicious. I've never quite known what ooey gooey is made of, but it dang sure is tasty. The serving sizes are also very generous; even the cupcake was enough to share between two people if you wanted to (but it's so good, you won't want or need to). All of my goodies cost me less than $25 which I thought was pretty good considering there was more than enough to share. I can't wait to stop back by the next time I'm the area, to try something new!

Since I started working in Kenner I kept hearing the buzz about Party Palace and how it was "just as good" as Randazzo's or Haydel's king cakes. I have to say they certainly do stack up to the competition. I am a traditional kinda gal and I loved the ribbons of cinnamon throughout the bread...the true mark of care and quality in a king cake in my opinion. I hate when its just plain bread with no flavor, but this was the opposite. The cake was topped with white icing and colored granulated sugar....the way it should be! The king cake was super fresh and dare I say it...moist. (chills, I know.) The building it very unassuming plopped in the middle of a random section of residential and warehouse type businesses. I guiltily used my GPS to get to there. I did not realize Veterans went past Loyola, guys! Apparently, they sell Party Palace king cakes in a lot of other places around the city so if you see the logo elsewhere, know that it has the mark of approval from the locals.

UPS had picked up for the day so there was nothind she could do. No offer to Fed Ex it to me to make it right but she could get it to me next week. I've had problems with this place before but gave them another chance because I like that it is a small family owned company. I did get a cream cheese cake earlier in the season and was disappointed because the cream cheese was not a filling like the cakes from Randazzo's but was baked in.
