    Fudgie the whale
    Karla N.

Ordered a fudgie the whale cake over the phone, it was $30. They were very cordial and flexible with time pickup. When I walked In the cashier was very professional and the place was super clean with a very nice cake and ice cream selection. I also bought a 6-pack of the flying saucers(ice cream sandwiches) $9.99 the cookie part of the sandwich was crisp and crunchy. The cake was delicious and chocolatey. A small piece goes a long way.

This place is so clean and the staffs there are super friendly and professional. I love their Matcha hard ice cream and strawberry shortcake sundae dasher. The ice cream are so fresh and creamy. Can't ask for more! They also customize ice cream cakes and deserts for parties.

All kinds of Carvel Cakes and pre-made cups. Fudgie the Whale and Hello Kitty Ice Cream Cakes! Fast and Friendly Service. No where to sit to eat your ice cream though. The lady who I assume is the boss said she had held a pop-up shop about two years prior which blew up, hence what we see here. The selection here was deceptively small compared to chain bakeries, but it didn't take us long recognise how much power the smaller selection packs and, actually, how the selection really is not small at all. The matcha red bean loaf grabbed my attention straight away and didn't disappoint, but their red bean bun was just as impressive, as it's a more bread-y counterpart to the fluffy versions other bakeries typically have. The onioissant is definitely experimental and worked better on the chive bacon cream cheese one than on the pollack roe, which was a bit too much on the salty and fishy side for my liking. Their chocolate horn is at least twice as big as a typical one you'll find at other bakeries and has a rich dark chocolate filling which was a pleasant surprise. Their coffee brioche pastry was another hit, thanks to the strong coffee filling and delicate layers of pastry. There's ample tables and chairs, beverage menu, and I'm sure we'd come hang if we lived closer. I can't wait to go back.

They were unique but light and really refreshing. For the actual baked goods, I really liked the mousse and french toast, but wasn't a big fan of the oni-croissant. We felt it was too much bread and not enough filling, but that is simply our preferences. The aesthetics was very fast causal and they have different seatings throughout the cafe. It was pretty full but we got a seat pretty quickly.

The inside is absolutely beautiful and while they have tables, they also have more traditional floor seating. We got a couple bites of food to eat, some of their tea, and some cocktails. Their food was very mediocre, at best. While the persimmon cake SEEMED to be made in house, it was very clear that everything off their food menu required minimal preparation (ie. for the dumplings, it was just har cow). I also thought their cocktails were okay, and out of the three we got, none stood out to me. I did enjoy their tea, however. But, it was also fairly expensive for what it was (~$50). Overall, I thought this spot was okay for the price and I'm not sure I would return.

We came with a fairly large group and ordered several teas and snacks to share amongst us. There were several options for the flavors of tea and each one had different benefits as well. I loved all of them, particularly the fruitier ones. As for snacks, we had this fried taro snack that had a crispy biscuit outer layer that was delicious. It was a bit of a sweet & savory mix, but not strong in either sweet or salty flavors. There was also this persimmon snack that was filled with nuts and other things. It was slightly sweet, very unique, and both paired well as a tea time snack. They're also open until 11:30pm! So if you want to skip the bar, I'd recommend checking out this tea spot for a nice hang out.

We got the ginger milk pudding. Do think it's a bit pricey ($10) since it's an easy dessert to make but I guess it's all the theatrics. They pour the dessert in front of you and put a sand glass on top. Once sand glass is done, so is the dessert and you can even rest a spoon on top. The dessert is very smooth, barely a solid, and its ginger taste is very strong- which I like. Strong ginger but pairs well with the milk and good amount of sugar. It is a bit spicy but I like it this way. They do have a lot of other desserts as well as savory items on the menu. Intrigued by their savory menu and will definitely come back to try them next time.

From dessert options like croffles, cakes, sandwiches, and drinks available, there seems to be plenty of options available for everyone. My go-to order is the Iced Tiramisu Latte, Pistachio and Ricotta Cake, and their Mixed Berry Croffle. The Tiramisu Latte isn't too sweet, which makes it perfect to drink. The Pistachio and Ricotta Cake is light and works well together, despite it being made from ricotta (which is something I usually do not like). I did try their Misty Morning drink, which comprises of pear juice, pear puree, and sparkling water, however, I would skip this as it tasted literally like the pear drink in a can, mixed with sparkling water. Staff members are pretty prompt in taking your order. I would continue coming here when I am in the area.
