Carvel soft ice cream is as good as it gets in a cone or a cup. The sundae's are exceptional if you like hot fudge or strawberries. I've been eating Carvel for over 70 years and the taste , texture and flavor is always exceptional. Don't forget the " Flying Saucers" if you crave the best ice cream sandwich on the planet! The only issues with Carvel are not ice cream related. Different locations are more people friendly than others. Most of the time it's good and friendly, but there was one visit where the staff seemed annoyed and were rolling their eyes at us quite a bit, which definitely stood out. Every once in a while I venture to this Carvel location for BOGO Wednesdays on soft serve sundaes...two regular sundaes for $5.60, and the flavor of the ice cream is still the same as when I was a kid, and I'm 53 now! We also bought a variety pack of ice cream sandwiches in the freezer and they are filled with soft serve ice cream and you cannot bite into them. The sandwiches are hard as a rock. Normally, we will always regret going there because the one thing that is consistent is the poor service without a smile. That alone keeps us from going there on a regular basis. SO SAD! I hate writing bad reviews but my experience was so poor I could cry. I LOVE Carvel, especially the Sunrise location. I came here with my little girl to calm down from a stressful week. They were advertising for a new Biscoff Cookie Sundae and I was geeked! When she went to scoop, ALL OF THE ICE CREAM was MELTED! So she stirred it like a pot of porridge and proceeded to make the sundae, and I said "Hey! It's OK, since the ice cream is melted, I'll have a Reese's shake". Then she added soft serve and literally a quart of milk to a cup with 2 scoops of Reese's. The shake was not thick or cold. It was super milky and not rich and tasty at all. She didn't use gloves either, and her hands were really dry and cracked - I was taken aback. Unfortunately I had to ask for a refund. This is honestly the first time I've EVER asked for my money back anywhere. It broke my heart. Luckily, my kiddo liked her soft serve cone dipped in sprinkles. I have to disclose up front that I am from Southern California--home of the best yogurt shops in the world--and that I don't quite understand the allure of Carvel on the East Coast. It's not ice cream. It's not frozen yogurt. It's not even soft serve. It's Carvel. I got the classic vanilla on a cake cone dipped in chocolate, which started melting immediately and was the messiest thing ever. My mom got the traditional vanilla/rainbow sprinkles sundae. She and I thought they tasted good enough--nothing special. My stepdad and his mom would kill us for saying that. For the record, they enjoyed their sundaes very much. The girls behind the counter were really sweet, and we liked that the place was open late. This particular location is under construction. Be advised that you might have a bit of trouble locating it, due to the scaffolding and tarps out front. It shares a suite with Blimpie Subs. read more

I love going to Carvel for only one ice cream flavor which is the chocolate volcano my favorite it is so delicious. I think the best service I will get here is in the early afternoon when the owner is here to supervise those girls. I had read other reviews about the bad customer service here and that is true. I have walked in there and it has been times where they have been on FaceTime calls chatting while not serving customers. Some of them have very long fingernails and don't where gloves while they scooping ice cream which is disgusting. And other times they have been goofing around and talking to each other while customers are standing around. And some I came across were not friendly and had sort of an attitude on their face. I think their customer service is improving just a little since the last time I been there. I also think this Carvel can be a little more cleaner too. I never tried their blimpie subs either because the look of the bread and meat to me didn't look good and look like it been siting for a very long time.. I am not really a huge fan of ice cream cake, but my brother is, and it was his birthday, so I decided to get him Fudgie the Whale. I googled Carvel to get an idea of pricing and options and found I could place an order online, so I ordered a Fudgie the Whale with Happy Birthday Steve written on it in blue icing and set a pickup time for 4pm. I arrived at Carvel at four and mentioned that I had placed an order online. The owner asked when it had been placed and when I mentioned earlier that day he said that the system should not have let me do that and that he did not receive it as they don't do same day orders. Upon checking my email I saw that this order had never actually been confirmed by the store. Luckily the owner had a Fudgie on hand and was able to do the writing right then and there. I paid and was out in about ten minutes. He even threw in a free cup of extra crunchies. I am not sure if this is standard with a cake purchase or it had something to do with the confusion with the order. Had they not been able to accommodate my Fudgie request this review would probably be going much differently and I stuck with three stars for that reason. Carvel obviously has some kinks to work out in it's online ordering. Since my order wasn't very custom it was an easy fix, but had I been detailed with cake size and frosting colors and flavors I may not have ended up with what I wanted. The cake itself was delicious and my brother was happy so overall it was a success. I did notice a sign for BOGO sundaes on Wednesdays, I would love to give those a try and once I do perhaps I will go up to four stars. This locations also has a Blimpie subs inside. I love Blimpie subs and don't see them too often so I think I will have to pickup lunch here one day (maybe a Wednesday). read more

We walked in and stood up for 7 mins watching the employees on FaceTime and not even a hello or good evening or anything then when she was finished with her cell phone conversation she then spoke to her friend she had in the store and then said hi to us. Let me start this off with I am OBSESSED with carvel cakes. However, this location gave me the worst taste in my mouth. My friend ordered first, the woman with the platinum blonde extremely short hair did not greet us, and when my friend was talking to her, she was talking away from us and would not look at us. We were standing in front of her, not to her left. Her attitude stunk something fierce the moment it was our turn to be served. I ALMOST didn't buy a cake because of her, but thankfully the cake is in the freezer and I didn't have to "bother her" but if what I wanted was behind the counter where she had to serve me, I would have walked right out. This woman was standing behind the counter, loudly complaining about having to serve people. If she was wearing a name tag, I would name her personally, because all of the other staff was extremely friendly.
