Called at 9:37 PM to confirm what time they closed because website said 11:00PM. Arrived at 9:52PM where employees had just turned off the lights. Giselle answered the phone again (had spoken to her previously about closing time) and stated "well it's almost 10PM so we closed up." I had explained we had just called her and she goes "well that's not my problem." CHANGE YOUR HOURS! Google and Yelp says 11:00. We have to get to the store to see the sign that you close at 10:30 instead of 11:00. Waste of time. Our favorite Carvel location in LI...staff is friendly and service is good. Always can get ice cream when we need it. They have changed management recently - there are more soft serve options now..new flavors. Vanilla soft serve is always the best but tired black raspberry, which is also good. Great to come here for ice cream esp on a hot day...or any day. Cakes for every occasion - can order ahead or pick up as there are sheet cakes already made. One of the best Carvel shops around! This spot is so big and is always full of different treats you can easily pick up and bring home with you. There's always ice cream cakes ready for staff to customize for you, flying saucers to bring home, bonnets (my absolute favorite), sundaes, etc. Always up to date with the latest Carvel offerings and flavors, definitely one of the more extensive Carvel's in regard to flavor choices. This place even has seating so you can enjoy your ice cream concoction inside :) The owner is really friendly and I've never had a bad experience with staff, everyone is always eager to help and has a smile on their face. Went here with my family, which includes a few young kids. The staff rushed us to make up our minds and was incredibly rude. After the staff practically rushed us out the door, the whole exchange lasted only a few minutes, which anyone with kids knows that nothing is realistically that fast. Sorry if bringing kids into an ice cream shop was a curve ball for them but they were incredibly rude. I felt like going back in but for the sake of my family didn't. Won't ever be back and living only a few blocks away would have been great but won't support a company that doesn't support its customers. Really disappointed. read more

So after going to this carvel for over 20 years, I will never patron here again. It's literally walking distance from my house and after today, I'd rather go out of my way. I walk in and I see a red head girl with a nasty look, like I'm bothering her for walking in. She comes to me and says in a very ugh you're bothering me way, "what can I get you". As sweet as pie I asked for rainbow sprinkles layered with vanilla ice cream. I'm the type to kill em with kindness. Dead ass she says "no! I can't do that". I'm like "what", she said again "we can't do that". I laughed and said "wait, you won't make my ice cream the way I want?" Listen I can understand if there are issues and ways certain businesses do things, but this was ridiculous. She said cause they can't determine the amount of $ to charge me by doing it that way. So I said charge me for two toppings. She literally wouldn't do it. I asked for the manager, who I've known for almost 20 years. She refused until my 3rd ask. They talk in the back, and he comes out and says very nicely, The owners don't want us doing this anymore, only the toppings on top and bottom. I said "well she never said that" she outright said "no" haha it's like comical to me. If she would have approached it the way he did, I may have reacted a bit different. What is seriously the big deal, I wouldn't mind paying for two toppings, even three, if that was the case and I would get it how I wanted it. I managed a carvel many years ago and we would do whatever the customer asked, within reason, to make them happy and have what they want. We had lines and lines of people wrapped around the store from all over the island because of how we treated our customers. Don't owners know this? Why is it so hard to get a decent person to help you now a day. I'm a paying customer and you're literally telling me no I can't get something that is so easy to charge me for lol. Anyway this place will go down and go down fast because of a stupid rule and for their nastiness. Have fun losing $$$ and your business. I never had a problem with this Carvel. I have been going to this one for years. Only one problem. I went there this evening. Only one girl in there when i walked in. The girl was kneeling down with dust pail and broom cleaning up some dirt. She saw me and put the pail and broom down. She did not even wipe off her hands let alone wash them. She proceeded to start making my cup of ice cream. When she took the cup she touched the inside of the cup with her fingers. Really? That was gross. I should have said something then. My fault....I didn't. My mistake. But please be careful and try to remember to please clean your hands or put on gloves before you serve a customer. I was so disappointed last night my husband was told by I think the owner that he has to wait outside the person was nasty put a sign on your door or if you have a limit because then we noticed someone went in the store right after that I will no longer be going to that carvel I will go to another store which is in another town. My partner Lynn and I had gone to 4 different bakery's prior to going to Carvel. We went to Dortoni's /Sweet Surrender's and Stop & Shop as well as King Kullen. None of them can compare to the service we received at Carvel. The moment we arrived a young man by the name of Brian greeted us. He was incredibly friendly and patient with all the questions we had. He took the time to show us all the different color options and went over all the choices they could offer to make our cake special. He was the definition of true customer service. We never knew that you can have Vanilla /Chocolate as well as Strawberry. The Strawberry was the best I have ever had. When I arrived on July 23rd to pick up the cake I was truly moved to tears. Mike the owner blew me away it was done to PERFECTION!!! The Details that he added to the cake were amazing. I still look at the picture and cant get over it. He took our picture that we provided and had it burned on the cake in such a way that I thought I was looking at the actual picture. This is true artistry. He made our 60TH Birthday one that we will never ever forget. A million thanks from myself and Lynn for making our day so special. Thank you to his Family and other Team members for all the help. I only hope that people read this and moving forward go down and sit with Mike or Brian or their other Family members and have them make their cake.
