I'm a Long Island bakery snob - the cakes and cookies here are great, not the absolute best I've ever had, but would definitely come back if I was in the area again! Pastries are also good, I'd probably heat up some of them at home for flakier crusts! Displays were beautiful, clean and filled with the usual favorites! popped in here the other day- It was a little crowded but it went fast and it wasn't crammed, I went in for a cupcake but left with a bunch of other stuff I thought the cupcake was a little stale tasting the top of the cupcake was a little hard but the frosting was pretty tasty. The rainbow truffles were basically if you took a rainbow cookie and made it into a cake pop- nothing to write home about. I found the prices were slightly cheaper than other bakeries but the customer service wasn't great. The girl helping me was very short with me especially when i was asking questions, it was almost as if i was bothering her. I had heard very good things about their Boston cream donuts so when we were heading over a friends' place to watch some football, we picked up a couple of those donuts and a lemon meringue pie for dessert. Walking in, I was expecting a baseball theme to the bakery but there is none I could see so not sure if there is any double meaning of its name. The women behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. As for their goods: DONUTS - The boston cream was very good. It is not as sweet as others such as DD and creamier, and the dough itself was soft and pillowy. So it was a hit. I forgot to take a picture but we also got a jelly donut as well, which I also recommend. Instead of piping in the jelly, they cut a powdered donut in half and spread jelly in the middle; so more like a jelly sandwich. This was very good as well. I think I saw a similar chocolate frosted donut cut and spread with cream in middle. Will have to come back for that. PIE - Not as happy with the pie. There was way too much lemon filling inside, which may sound like it should be good but the filling had a lot of artificial tasting sweetener, which made it a little sickly sweet. The crust was a pie crust whereas we like a graham crust for lemon pies. The meringue was beautifully done though. All in all, will be back for donuts but probably not the pies although may try some of their others before making final judgement. read more

When Batterup opened everything was fresh and delicious. Recently I get stuck with one or two items that are obviously stale . I thought it was an off occurrence but all of the items in the back showcase are not fresh. I have experienced this quite a few times . The macaroon oval with jam was hard and the jam was no longer soft . Bread is frozen and is not enjoyable. I'd heard that this bakery was voted Long Island's best, so I was excited to give it a try. Before heading over, I called to ask if they had Boston cream and jelly donuts available, and was told they did. However, when we arrived just a few minutes later, we were informed that they were baking a batch. It took about 10 minutes. The bakery itself is quite small with no seating, aside from a table for DoorDash pickups. I also noticed a tiny printout of the menu, which I missed at first, as I was expecting something more visible like a wall menu. Another thing that stood out was the lack of labels on the desserts, so it was a bit hard to know what everything was. There were also some pies (possibly meringue) on a shelf without any covers, which made me a little uncomfortable. On the plus side, the donuts are generously sized and packed with filling. If you like your donuts oozing with filling, this is the place for you!However, I was a bit disappointed with the taste. The filling in both the Boston cream and the jelly donut didn't quite hit the mark. The Boston cream filling had an odd flavor that I couldn't quite place--maybe it was too "eggy," or something else, but it didn't taste as expected. The jelly filling was similarly off, so much so that I couldn't finish it and ended up scraping out the excess. While they've earned the title of Long Island's best, I'd say your experience may vary! read more

I purchased a Tres Leches cake from Batter Up Bakery and it was amazing! I purchased it for a team member who was having his 1yr anniversary. When I got back to my office the leche was in the tray underneath the cake and we knew it was going to be good! The baker was smart as they place a plastic ring around and the cake sits in a dish that has sides to capture the caramel milk it's saturated in. It had fresh & canned fruit on top which was a nice surprise. Cutting the cake was a challenge since it was so saturated it basically fell apart after taking the plastic collar off. They did not disappoint. They are light and flakey with more of a custard filling rather than a cream. Very very good and delectable.
