I wanted so much to like Francesco's. It was our first time visiting and the bakery held an old school charm, but after trying a variety of items, a 2.5 seems most fitting. The displays were filled with a nice variety of butter cookies, cakes, doughnuts and other classic pastries. Everything "looked" good, but the taste was just average. I would have pushed it to a 3 star review, but the young man behind the counter wasn't very friendly. The store was as empty when we went in so it wasn't like he was busy trying to take orders quickly. We told the young man that we would be ordering a variety of butter cookies and he looked at us annoyed and continued to serve us with a similar attitude. I guess maybe this is the expected service from the generation nowadays? I just expected more from a place that appeared so charming. The rainbow cookies seem to have anise in it, which is a bit odd for a rainbow cookies, and the chocolate coating was not very cocoa forward. It was also lacking jam. We were also really excited about the chocolate sandwiched butter cookies, but while the cookie itself was fresh, the ganache was missing the rich chocolatey flavor. Instead, it almost tasted like carob or some sort of diluted chocolate instead. The cookies itself were also not buttery enough, though they did taste freshly baked. All in all, Francesco isn't something to write home about and it's not a place I'd visit again. read more

Francesco's Bakery NEVER delivered our wedding cake. We ordered our wedding cake from Francesco's and called two days in advance to confirm delivery. The staff assured us it would arrive early, around 11:00 a.m. However, by 1:00 p.m. on our wedding day, the cake still hadn't arrived. When we called the bakery, they told us they couldn't get in touch with the driver. It took another hour before they realized the driver never had the cake and that it had been left at the bakery the entire time. At that point, it was around 2:30 p.m. Not only was this incredibly frustrating, but it also caused unnecessary stress on our wedding day--something no couple should have to deal with. Unfortunately, we had to pick up the wedding cake ourselves. Since then, we've spent the past week trying to get in contact with someone to address what happened, with no success. I asked for the owner's phone number and left a voicemail two days ago, but still haven't received any response. Overall, this was a VERY disappointing experience. It was only a bit more than $5. Very reasonable and really good. The young man that helped me was very pleasant. There was seating inside and out. Very nice experience. Came here for dessert after dinner with my parents and fiancé. They are open until 8pm on Sundays! We got rainbow cookies, a chocolate cigar, blueberry cheesecake and another type of cookie. The rainbow cookies were delicious! So moist (sorry I know how we feel about that word!) and fresh. My stepdad really liked his blueberry cheesecake and my mom enjoyed her chocolate cigar. Francesco's was supposed to deliver our wedding cake to The venue at the agreed upon time between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at 1:00 p.m. the cake still had not arrived at the venue. When we called the bakery they told us they could not get in touch with the driver. Eventually we made contact with the driver who informed us that he had no cake with him. Well it turns out that the cake was still at the bakery all along. Somebody from the venue had to go and pick the cake up from the bakery. Overall multiple failures across the board ins service and communication. The cake tasted fine when it arrived, but this is not something you want to worry about on your wedding day. Make the cake and deliver it to a venue less than 15 mins away, I don't know how that was messed up so terribly. I called to speak with somebody about this and I was told they were "very busy" and would call me back. No call back at this point in time. read more

I recently placed an online order to be shipped out of state. My parents are retired in Florida and I knew my dad would enjoy the bakery cookies and raspberry bars for his 85th birthday. Unfortunately the contents got banged around in transit. I called to let the bakery know and the manager Jamie was kind, helpful, and took initiative to make things right. Everything is miniature and overpriced. Nothing tastes special enough for the price to be justified. Their buttercream isn't fluffy and leaves a waxy film in your mouth. First off, I took about 40 minutes to drive out of my way to go to a gourmet cupcake shop called get baked which was I guess once located in this bakery, which is no longer there but nobody bothered to change the info online so I ended up wasting a good part of my day. Since I was there, I figured it's still a bakery. Let me try their cupcakes. They were pretty so I got three cupcakes, a brownie, and two macarons I should've known it was all downhill when I tasted a macaron in the car and I had to spit it out because all I could taste was freezer burn. Fast forward to home open up the box. Taste the frosting on one cupcake disgusting. Taste a piece of the brownie. Also disgusting all have the same burnt old, Been sitting in the refrigerator or freezer taste. My husband who eats anything then says oh you're being dramatic takes a bite out of one of the cupcakes spits it right in the garbage when I say eats anything he's a Hoover and he eats anything. Bakery isn't as good at it used to be. Bought two items this morning. First was a roll which was fresh and delicious. Second was a croissant which unfortunately was almost inedible. It was beyond tasteless. Like, how do you screw up making a croissant? You're a bakery. It's inexcusable. Now they have a sign at the register that says 3% administrative fee due to price increases. I get that prices sometimes needs to raise, but to call it an administrative fee is ridiculous. Just raise the prices and say nothing since they don't advertise prices anyway. With all the great bakeries on Long Island, how does this bakery stay in business? I had been to the bakery over a decade ago to pick up a few pounds of cookies and pastries to bring to family for Christmas dessert. When we opened the box, the cookies were burnt to the point we brought them back the next day and the pastries were dreadful. Now, a return visit, nearly a decade later, nothing has changed. I got an assortment of items; a few cream puffs, jelly donuts, a lemon pastry, a twist, a large cookie and a cake pop, a few rolls and a loaf of rye bread. The cookie bottom was burnt and the pastries were old, stale and as dreadful as they were a decade ago. I will not be going for three times the charm. I spent $42.00 for what ended up in the trash. After, one bite of the cake pop, my son may never eat another one..it was that awful. We were disappointed then, had to fight with them for a refund for the clearly burnt cookies and now just ended up throwing everything away. No point in fighting, we just will never go back. Ordered some rum balls the Tues before Thanksgiving 2023 to be shipped to us here in North Carolina. I'm still waiting! Reached out several times and spoke with "Steven" who was useless. He said they were shipped and provided the same tracking over and over where UPS said tracking shows "Label Created" but never received or dropped at UPS for shipping. Steven said he shipped a new batch, provided the same tracking, and nothing. On the 3rd or 4th time I called in mid December, Francesco himself picked up. He said there were issues with UPS and the order was on its way. Uh huh. Sounds more like there were issues with his business operations. Dishonest. Incompetent. Untrustworthy. I can't say the desserts suck because we didn't get our order. They have yet to refund our money, respond to our emails or provide tracking that shows the order was delivered let alone dropped off at UPS. read more

I had brought my own decorations for the cake, but they insisted these weren't good enough and made me pay extra for them to supply the decorations made out of fondant (my first mistake). They made the decorations too heavy for the cake and didn't ensure the cake layers were properly supported that the cake completely collapsed before we served it for my son's birthday party. Such a disaster. I don't know why I gave them a second chance. The first experience is when I waited over 2 hours on Christmas Eve for a birthday cake for my husband. I was a bit wary when I found out that my wedding venue, Leonard's Palazzo, gets their wedding cakes from Francesco's because of their 3.5 star rating on Yelp. That seemed a bit too low for such an important part of my wedding. And my gut instincts proved to be right. The cake tasting at Francesco's went fine minus the fact that I had to do all the reaching out to schedule the tasting. I'm not sure what would've happened if I never reached out. Anyway, I chose two complimentary flavors: buttercream and cannoli - each tier was going to have a different flavor. There were some flavors that would cost money, but they weren't my top choices. I did pay an extra $200 for a wedding cake design that wasn't complimentary though because the complimentary ones looked very tacky and old-fashioned. I emailed them the design that I wanted on the spot AND the staff doing the tasting with me noted on the receipt/order form that the design is "same as pic" and attached it to a printed picture of the cake design. Sadly, I found out that they gave me the tacky complimentary design instead of the design I wanted literally 10 minutes before the reception began. I can't even imagine where the slip up occurred since it was so clearly noted on the order form. I had no choice but to suppress my frustrations at that moment. However, my maitre'd and sales rep at Leonard's assured me that they would reach out to Francesco's and give me a refund quickly. I later learned that this was NOT the case. It took me 3 whole weeks to receive my money back and this was after A LOT of follow ups and chasing both Leonard's and Francesco's for the refund. I can't believe that I didn't get the cake of my dreams, which is forever documented in my wedding pictures, AND that I had to do SO much work to get my money back. I suggested Leonard's to partner up with a different bakery for their future needs, and I suggest you do the same! read more

DO NOT USE THIS BAKERY IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES My fiancé and I are getting married at the Fox Hollow and were recommended Francesco's Bakery. We scheduled a cake tasting for 4/28 (we called and scheduled this on 4/4). I have food allergies to gluten and dairy and we let them know this upon booking the cake tasting. They assured us that they would have something prepared for myself and my fiancé and that they could accommodate my allergies. When we arrived we told them we had a wedding cake appointment and it took a while to get anyone to help us, and nothing was ready/prepared for our cake tasting. They eventually brought out a plate of cakes to try and I asked if there was anything gluten and dairy free for me. They seemed confused by my request despite having the appointment made weeks in advance. We sat for over ten minutes with no one coming to help us. Eventually, the owner came out of the back and assured us that they would make a platter for me right now and that it would be gluten and dairy free. He said that they have Bavarian cream and that it is dairy free. The owner was very unprofessional and yelled at his employees in front of us. They brought out a platter for me and I asked again to verify that this was gluten and dairy free (probably the fourth time asking just to make sure). They assured me it was. I ate some of the samples and against our better judgment and instincts/first impression we placed our order for our wedding cake. Within minutes of leaving my skin started to get itchy and prickle as it does when I consume dairy. I had not consumed anything but the cakes and my skin broke out in a rash as is typical for my dairy allergy. At the end of the night, we were disappointed and we just wanted to cancel our wedding cake order. We were told the Bavarian cream was dairy free and given my allergic reaction we know that this was not the case. The last thing I want the night of my wedding is to have an allergic reaction to my wedding cake and I could not in good faith trust that this would not happen again with this bakery. We called the bakery at noon the next day and asked to cancel our wedding cake order and speak to the wedding cake planner we met with. They told us she was very busy and would call us back. At 4 pm we called again and were told the same thing. At this point it appeared they were dodging our calls and my fiancé insisted that we wanted to cancel as soon as possible. They put her on the line and he explained the situation and my allergic reaction to the cakes. She gave a defensive apology and said she was very busy and would find our paperwork when she could and give us a call later for a refund. We never got a sincere or empathic response. Hours passed and still no call back. My fiancé called again at 8 pm and they transferred him to the wedding cake planner however another employee picked up and said that unfortunately she was super busy with cake tastings and couldn't come to the phone and my fiancé was asked for the third time that day to take down his information for a call that was simply not coming. My fiancé insisted that he needed to speak to a manager/owner/whoever to cancel our order for our wedding next year. The owner was eventually put on the line and when my fiancé again explained the allergic reaction to dairy that occurred the owner said never in my 37 years have I had a customer have an allergic reaction to gluten from our baked goods. My fiancé said it wasn't an allergic reaction to gluten, since my reaction to gluten is the closing of my throat. Not only was he not apologetic he questioned if I had consumed something else before the cake tasting and put the blame on us. He told my fiancé that we never should have come to his bakery if I have allergies. The bakery amenities indicate that they have gluten-free and vegan options and they charge extra for it. The audacity to blame us for listening to them when they assured us multiple times that the cake provided was gluten and dairy free. They told us they could accommodate us and Francesco himself said they were an allergy friendly establishment. We made a terrible mistake by paying for a cake from this bakery and thankfully got a refund after an absolutely nightmarish ordeal. I just hope other people can learn from our mistakes and not go through this awful experience themselves. If you have any food allergies (or do not want to deal with vendors of questionable morals) do not go here! read more

So I live close by Francescos and have patronized his business many times, and being able to meet the one and only was truly inspiring because everyone has a story. We also met his support system, his daughter and wife and kids via FaceTime. Mr. Francesco is truly a gentleman, he took the time to show us his skills as a baker and man does he have skills. Within the first hour he made everything look so easy, but it was a lot of work. Before I forget this bakery had a very unfortunate incident where it burned down and they rebuild, and now fully operational, and together with his brother they will be opening a very fresh and unique Mediterranean sandwich shop (coming soon) looking forward to trying it out. Conveniently located with a parking lot so you won't have any parking issues. getting into the parking lot may be confusing and a little dangerous as you will need to turn into the parking lot driveway once you turn after the signal. A little dangerous if you have a car tailgating you as you turn and you suddenly slow down to get into the driveway. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and the line was long but moving quickly. They had 2 staff taking orders. We got a few mini-desserts to go which were hard to rate since they were all really good. Love this place. 6 years ago got my wedding cake from here. 4 years ago my wife's 30th birthday cake (see picture- awesome right?) and yesterday my wife's baby shower cake. We walked into the bakery and met with Tanya. She was extremely professional and helped us order a specialty fondant cake for my wife's baby shower. Additionally, we ordered 18 fondant cupcakes. Every time we have purchased a cake from here, not only did the cake look amazing but it tasted phenomenal. We did our cake tasting here, our fondant wedding cake, my wife's 30th birthday fondant cake, and now my wife's baby shower fondant cake. The prices have always been reasonable!! My daughter and her then fiancé ordered cookies and pastries in august 2022 for their wedding at the Fox Hollow Inn (highly recommended this bakery),in December 2022. The night of their wedding they were informed that they had NO COOKIES AND PASTRIES. Francesco's even though they accepted payment in August NEVER processed the order and did not deliver the ordered items. When the Fox Hollow contacted the bakery they sent Stale, inedible crap. When contacted the "owner" didn't accept responsibility but instead tried passing the fault onto my daughter and her husband. DO NOT use this hack for your wedding, you'd be better off with Oreos and Chips Ahoy. The Fox Hollow should be ashamed to continue to keep Francesco's on their preferred vendor list. They finally reopened after the fire and they are back! I literally swerved into their parking lot when I saw they reopened. Got a delicious baguette and some cannolis (they were so fresh they were literally filled to order) and an assortment of pastries for the hubs. Everything was fresh and yummy and I am so glad they are open again. Definitely a great place for breads and sweets. Only thing that would make it better is an espresso/coffee machine. read more
