I wasn't sure how this would turn out. Our car door got damaged when we scraped a short metal post at a gas station. Anyway, it was just the door, so I found a salvaged door the same color. Called up David and asked if they could replace the door with this one. He assured me that he could do it. Well, I am happy to say he exceeded my expectation. It looks and operates like new now and they did it for a very reasonable charge. I went here on a couple co-workers' recommendations for an NC State inspection. Of course, having your check engine light on will automatically fail you, so the folks at Cary Auto Repair went about diagnosing the problem. It was bad news for me since my O2 sensor was shot, but they made it as painless as possible. The situation was explained thoroughly to me, and I was even allowed to go back into the shop and see how they were working. I didn't feel taken advantage of because I was a woman, and considering all they had to do, I was in and out in a jiff. This auto shop was able to order the ETC control box that was needed for replacement and do the work the next day for $688, whereas Sport Durst quoted me $900+. However, another part "came off" during the job that they said was rusted. They said they cleaned off the rust of the piece they showed me; but there was not residual rust anywhere, even the inside of the break. They quoted $268 to repair it. Yes, I feel taken. I've been coming here for all my auto related repairs and maintenance needs for the past 2+ years and I'm ashamed that I haven't written a review for these guys yet. Hands down this is the best place to get any and all of your car related work done in the triangle area. I originally found these guys on Yelp because I lived close by, but even after I've moved I go out of my way to come here. These guys here are super honest and price extremely well. They always take time to explain everything (even showing me broken parts and what exactly they are doing) and always get your permission before doing any work. They've even told me when I don't need to do things yet because things are working fine (even when I've thought it needed to be done) which I think is a great sign of their honesty. I'm definitely in the target demographic for getting ripped off at auto repair places (young and female) but I would close my eyes and accept whatever price they quoted me here because I know they would never overcharge or recommend unnecessary repairs to me. That's how much confidence I have in recommending this place. (Just for the record, I originally came here to get an alternator replaced and they had the best quote by a far margin.) An example, Firestone wanted roughly $500 to diagnose and fix an small oil leak (which they kept insisting was a major one) and these guys here took care of it for $50. Sweet. No 2002 Passat on the planet was in better shape thanks to Frank & Ron. From early on, they earned my trust by practicing the Golden Rule of auto repair: They would recommend the repair if my car was their car, and we'd do because I could trust them to say, "No, not yet" if they wouldn't do the repair now for themselves either. That's earned trust and with this two, it's worked very well for many years. They have expertise as well as the patience and diligence to make a careful diagnosis. I have been using Cary Auto Repair for years and should have written a review well before now. I refer everyone I can to this repair shop! Turan and Jose are great and are always willing to explain things and even show you the parts that were replaced, if you'd like. They are very honest in pricing, and often times I've even paid less than I was originally quoted because a part, or the labor, was less expensive than originally expected. They will let you know about other services that need to be done, but do not make you feel pressured to do them right away, as some other shops do. They will instead tell you it is best to have it done within (x)months. This level of honesty is rare in this business, especially with my demographic. I absolutely loathe going to the mechanic to get an issue assessed because I know there's a good chance someone will exploit my naivety in auto repair. Because of this reason I purposely chose Cary Auto since several of their reviews specifically mentioned their honesty and fair prices. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. I brought my car in to have an issue assessed and after being told what the problem was and the cost to fix it, I wisely decided to step out of the shop to get a price quote from a different local shop that I had almost went to instead. Well the other shop quoted me a price that was 75% cheaper and that's after I subtracted the diagnostic/assessment fee from the total. Grrrr!!! I think it's absolutely ridiculous and shameful that this kind of thing goes on and that as a woman I am subject to dealing with it so often. I am so grateful we brought my car here! Precision Auto Tune told me I needed an entire part replaced for $3300, I came to Cary Auto Repair to get another estimate, only to have them clearly explain to me that the problem was much simpler and could be fixed by replacing some fluid and I owed them a grand total of $82. What a huge difference! I wish that all businesses realized how far honesty will get them. Had a major brake fluid leak going on and I didn't have the time or tools to fix it. Found this place via Yelp. With the shop only being about a mile down the road, I trusted the reviews and it paid off! Technician was able to spot the issue immediately (rusted/cracked brake line in the rear). The part that I was most impressed on was that the tech brought me the cracked piping to show where the damage was at while in the midst of repairing the issue. The pricing for this type of job can get expensive depending on where you go. Price wise, they were dead on and didn't "fluff" the cost. If I have any more issues with my car and don't have the time or tools to fix it on my own, I'll make another trip here! read more

Having been to Cary Auto Repair twice, I can say with all sincerity that they are honest, upfront, and reasonably priced. I am the ultimate target for auto repair people (single female who knows nothing about cars), and they have been nothing but honest and sincere with me. Each visit I was bracing to spend a large amount of money to have my car fixed. In both instances, the repair was minor and I was charged very little, if anything at all. They could have easily told me I needed hundreds of dollars in repairs, but instead chose the honest route. I will always rely on them for all my automotive needs. Additionally, I have referred three friends to them over the past two years. They have all had identical experiences. Thank goodness for honest, reliable people! read more

I went to Cary Auto Repair based off of these other Yelp reviews, and I would definitely recommend it. My A/C was shot, and I explained that I didn't want anything too pricey. They worked with me to do a diagnostic, explained what was wrong, and then went about testing solutions, each time coming back into the waiting room to get my ok before doing anything. I have never had to pay for a quote on anything at an auto repair shop.. Basically, I went in for a problem and they came back explaining I had bigger problems. I decided I'd take their quote and come back since I needed to go to work and it looked like I'd need to be there for a few hours but then they told me today's charge would be $76. When I asked for what exactly (since my problem wasn't fixed and nothing had been done to my car at all) they told me they had explained to me beforehand that I would be charged a diagnostic/labor charge, although obviously not very clearly as I thought they were just telling me how much it would be to fix what I thought was my issue. Trust me, if they told me "We are going to charge you $76 whether we fix your problem or not" I would have walked right out the door. After a few minutes of questioning this ridiculous charge I just did not want to argue with them anymore - I left robbed of $76 and completely frustrated in a car that hadn't had a thing done to it. Took my car in last fall after four dealerships in two states failed to figure out what was wrong with my car and charged me over a grand in repairs I didn't need.
