Got an oil change. The job was done but way over priced and not the friendliest staff. Will be looking elsewhere

Reasonable price, great owner, and nice location…read more Came in for an oil change and to track down the cause of a recurring stall issue with my Volkswagen Tiguan. The mechanic listened, asked good follow-up questions, made sure he understood the problem before drawing any conclusions, and then diagnosed it cleanly. The part arrived within the window he quoted (2-3 hours), was installed without fuss, and the final bill was reasonable. What stood out as much as the technical work: he flagged a slow coolant leak and a minor oil leak -- this is an older car, so neither was a shock -- but there was no pressure to pile on services. He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. Also, the door to the reception currently reads "B". Might want to avoid any confusion with better signage. That said, I am a big fan of this establishment and will be using them for repairs in the future (apparently sooner than I want :) Bonus: he pointed me to a wonderful Indian place across the street, Biryani, which I'd highly recommend if you have time to kill while your car is being worked on.

Modern Automotive in Cary, NC is the best repair facility of the many that we have used. First,…read morethey are honest and trustworthy. That relieves an incredible amount of anxiety on our part. They don't make a repair which is unnecessary. They don't try to scare you into agreeing to have expensive, unneeded repairs figuring that the anxiety of not having them done would encourage you to OK them. They don't continually try to up sell you on unneeded services as many dealership service departments do. They even verified that new tires that our tire dealer said that we needed were not needed now because the current tires were fine wrt tread wear and other features. More anxiety relief. They also do top-quality repairs. We have taken our two vehicles there for the past three years, one of which is almost 30 years old. Some repairs appeared to us that they may be undoable but they have solved every problem. They only use manufacturer replacement parts which may cost a little more or delay a repair but are likely to last much longer than using cheap generic parts but then charging the manufacture prices. Their labor charges are entirely reasonable. The manager, Will, is incredibly knowledgeable and capable of running a three-ring circus if needed. Because of their outstanding service, it is typical to have to wait a couple of weeks for an appointment.

We bring both our cars here and have had great experiences every time. What stands out most is…read moretheir honesty. I never feel like I'm being upsold or overcharged. In auto repair, trust is everything, and this shop has earned mine. Highly recommend, though selfishly, I hope they don't get too popular.

After pulling my vehicle into the bay, the technician removed the oil cap and then discovered they did not have the correct oil or filter needed to perform the service. My vehicle was returned to me, and I left the location. A few miles later, I noticed the vehicle was idling rough and driving abnormally. After stopping to inspect the engine, I discovered the oil cap was missing. When I called the Morrisville location, the employee who answered immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation and transferred me to the technician, who instructed me to drive to another Grease Monkey location in Cary. The Cary team discovered engine oil throughout the engine compartment and eventually found the missing oil cap lodged inside the engine bay. They cleaned the engine, completed the oil change, and inspected the vehicle. My concern is that a vehicle was released after a technician removed a critical engine component and failed to ensure it was properly reinstalled before returning the vehicle to the customer. Given the potential risk of engine damage, this was a serious oversight and needs to be addressed.

I told him I wanted the same service I had received during my last visit. He shrugged his shoulders, looked at me, and said, "Well, which one was that?" When I started looking for my previous receipt so I could tell him exactly what service I'd had, he simply walked away and never came back. After waiting, I decided to back out and leave. Instead, I drove about seven miles to another Jiffy Lube location, where the experience was completely different. I was greeted before I even had my vehicle in park, and the staff there was friendly, professional, and happy to help. Unfortunately, the Walnut Street location doesn't provide that same level of customer service. Based on my experience, the staff came across as unfriendly and uninterested in helping customers. This will be my last visit to that location. I still think Jiffy Lube is a good franchise overall, which makes this experience even more disappointing. It's unfortunate when a few employees leave such a negative impression on an otherwise solid brand.

Over the years, they've gotten to know my family and our vehicles well. They've always been clear about what needs fixing now versus what can wait -- something I really appreciate in a shop. No pressure, just honest advice. Most recently, I brought in our 2014 Mazda CX-5 for a North Carolina safety inspection so I could get it registered. While there, I mentioned a pretty annoying AC condensation issue that was flooding the passenger-side footwell. I'd already tracked down one clogged hose thanks to YouTube, but the other one was buried near the firewall and out of reach. They cleared both hoses quickly and affordably -- problem solved. A few months earlier, they also helped with my son's car, doing an inspection and tune-up following his motorcycle accident back in December. Their kindness and professionalism during that time meant a lot to our family. The Frantz family is truly amazing, and I recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy, no-nonsense auto shop in the area. Can't say enough good things.

Everything from oil changes to manifold/carburetor replacement to brake work to fuel-injection work. Always quality work, always reasonable prices, always nice people, and always done in a timely manner. I don't have much good to say about a lot of service industries these days, but Frantz Automotive never disappoints. Don, Lisa, Darrell, and the rest of the staff are all top-notch, as is the shop's work.
