A lovely place to observe art while going for a walk. Staff were absolutely lovely and the gift…read moreshop was filled with art themed treasure.

They had way better sculptures - large, landscape scale ones - in the entry area. More interactive. Minus the slanted house, everything acquired since Covid is pretty terrible, some even very cheap looking. Example, photographs... outdoors?! Attached to wood posts like cheap yard signs. Trellis with hanging fabric with cheap-looking patterns that looked like samples from Joanne's Fabrics... attached to structure that looked like playground set... not really developed. This idea of walking between hanging things has been done by countless others way better. A couple other sculptures were interesting themselves, but supports were so not thought through or developed. Looked like an afterthought, and attracted more attention or equal to the work. The "crystal" one was more interesting, but seems too precious to be outdoors. It's more of an indoor piece. Older works by Dan Graham, Jaume Plesna, Jim Dine, Joseph Wheelwright, Marianna Pineda are great. Smallest Kenneth Snelson I have ever seen... I counted 10 interesting works. 10. And indoor museum is closed for renovation. $14 entry, out of way location. Not coming back unless they dramatically improve curation. Look at New Orleans Museum of Art's sculpture garden for some inspiration. Storm King might be out of this league, but NOMA should be comparable.

It's a space with simple elegance and a rustic charm. This is a real boat club with members who join because they love sailing. The annual Head of the Charles and other regattas are big deals here. But it's good news that the space can be rented out for weddings and other events because it's really pretty cool. The bride and groom of the wedding we attended are both avid sailors and so this place has special meaning to them. I love that there is both indoor and outdoor space here so if you luck out and have good weather, your guests can go out to the expansive deck or down to the water's edge. We had a sunny, perfect late afternoon and so guests wandered freely in and out. You can hire whatever caterer and bar service that you would like which I think is a terrific option when hosting any kind of party. It's a great way to control the quality of the food and not be locked into anything you're not 100% sure of. I'm also told you can't charge for alcohol at this site and must have an open bar; to that I say: "Amen". I am not a believer in hosting guests at a wedding where there is a cash bar. You wouldn't charge people for drinks if you invited them to your home so it's never made sense to me to do it a wedding. So for events held here, it's not a debate: it's an open bar although of course you choose what to serve. There was plenty of room for both dining and dancing in two separate but totally adjacent inside areas. One side was the dining area and the other was for the cocktail hour and mingling, later for the live band and dancing. Although the Boat Club can be a bit tricky to find event though it's a Cambridge address, it is well worth considering if you're planning a wedding especially if you want a place that is unique.

A few things to note if you are considering this for your wedding- it is a working boat house, so there will be other people on the grounds and the docks during your event. We were made aware of this ahead of time and okay with this, but were not prepared for the lack of parking due to the rowers being on site. Other than that, the staff was wonderful to work with and Kate was great on the communication front. Highly recommend for any event!

The waitress (Lana) was over attentive and sweet and also flexible with everything we needed. The band was incredible and atmosphere/vibe overall was top notch. Went with a group of 6 friends for a fun evening out. There was a very large private event…read moreoccurring at the restaurant and they took over the stage and dining room for "a raffle" that staff stated would be no more than 15 minutes. The group was evidently a local business celebrating with apx 50-60 people so it quickly overwhelmed the dining room and created a very noisy scene. We decided to ask about patio seating and were informed that "the private party also has the patio" so we were basically stuck. After 20 minutes of the raffle with no end in sight we decided to leave for a different location. If you are planning to attend, I would definitely ask when making a reservation if there are any events occurring. I've never been to a restaurant where the private event occupied the patio, the private room, and used the main dining room without the restaurant insisting the group rented the whole restaurant for the evening. There were a handful of other diners including a family with kids attempting to eat dinner who were completely surrounded by the attendees standing around for the raffle.
